    It's like they locked the Korg engineers in a dark room with a Wavestation, fed them industrial strength acid and didn't let them out until they came up with a new toy. Just look at the faces on those guys when they first play it. Pure joy. I was already a Wavestation fanboy, but thus thing...just wow.

    Also....the Wavestation wasn't exactly easy to program. I can just imagine how death-defyingly mindbending the Wavestate must be. To anyone who pooh-poohs one song on a keypress....you have to program it first. And if you can get it to play a song on a keypress...you'll deserve it. Believe me, it doesn't just play songs without an awful lot of blood sweat and tears.

    • @HotStrange
      @HotStrange 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you watched any of the reviews yet? The majority of the controls have dedicated knobs and the menu diving is pretty minimal all things considered. I mean yeah it’s still gonna take some work but you phrased that as if it’ll somehow be harder than the original Wavestation.

    • @johndavidpeer3107

      Yes, it literally does.

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When it was designed and trialed, a DX7 was literally sat on the bench behind it for half a year lol. Along with the original WS and several others. I suspect you haven't a clue what you are talking about; it objectively surpasses the m1/x7 and although I was sorry to see them go, I simply haven't got the room to keep them.

    • @Jason75913
      @Jason75913 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HotStrange Ultranova is truly minimal on the menu-diving, this thing is relatively typical-workstation-tier from what I saw in the loopop vid. At least it is not D-50/D-05/MOXF level of awful.

    • @HotStrange
      @HotStrange 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Licinius Varrus I guess we’re gonna disagree because I think the d-50 is one of the greatest synths ever made. But the WaveState is very much a real synthesizer and is honestly more powerful than the majority of synths on the market right now. It’s almost stupid how much it can do.

    I ended up buying one - had it now for a few months. And yes, it is still a VERY complex synth to program. The dedicated knobs etc do make some of it easier, but there are endless pages of menu diving. It's possibly even less intuitive than the Wavestation IMO. Editing patches while playing is definitely easier, but programming your own patches is...interesting.
    Very happy to have bought it though...a superb synth, incredible depth and a real beast. Surprised at how old school it can sound too - the Wavestation was pure digital sounding, the Wavestate can sound very fluid and analogue when you use the oscillators, MS filters etc, then mix the fat sounds alongside its more digital nature and it shines. And the FX are a standout - so big and powerful I usually end up dialling them all back for actual mixing.
    It's harder in some ways than the Wavestation but it's infinitely better too. I haven't used my Wavestation once since I got the Wavestate. It really is a beautiful thing.

    The vector joystick makes it MUUUCCH more useful! I can play amazing evolving sounds on D33pmind 12... but to be able to turn on and off the leading edge while the trailing stuff is uninterrupted is a key advantage of this board over that. -- plus when did I ever hate digital? But those programmers at Korg need to realize they shouldn't drown almost all of the patches in reverb and chorus.
    Yes, I know you can tweak and re-save, but when you're scrolling through patches, it makes them start to sound the same.
    There are lots of bright and punchy waveforms to be had on this synth - but you're going to have to work to coax them out!

    God that’s sexy. I honestly prefer it to the Hydrasynth and Argon8 from what I’ve heard.

    • @crimsonweather
      @crimsonweather 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hydra is v overrated, yes , looks good, v nice features, but raw sound is not good, Argon8 raw sound is wonderful ,I am also still choosing between Argon and Wavestate

    • @itsnopez
      @itsnopez 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crimsonweather I'd like to hear the Argon in personal. Does sound nice but I'm a proponent of glitchy, plinky, plonky sounds and not sure that's really designed for that. At least haven't heard anything so far to indicate that's the case.

      I have all 3. Argon8m, Hydrasynth and Wavestate. To me the order I like them is hydrasynth 1st, korg wavestate 2nd, argon8m third but with that said they're all awesome!

      Synth Player
      It’s only cheating if you’re lazy. You can go in a change every little setting, every little sequence and have them al play off of each other like a semi-modular synth.
      This is be a welcome addition to my 0-Coast, Zoia and overall Ableton set up.

    Those smiles 😁, I can relate!
    I preordered early January, just received last week, and have not stopped smiling since.
    Been playing synths, and other keyboards since the mid 1970s, and the Wavestate is the best thing so far.
    Would like to have a 4 or 5 octave version, with expression pedal inputs, but the 3 octave is nice because it fits in with other stuff nicely.
    Also, it's easy to plug in bigger keyboards, with expression pedals that I can assign in the mod matrix.
    For new owners, I highly recommend this tutorial from Loopop.
