Thanks for providing this great resource for Winlink! I found your channel while looking for info on how to set up an HF Winlink gateway at my house. I have a radio and Beelink PC that I can dedicate to the gateway. The major items I still need are an antenna (will probably be an EFHW), and beefed up solar system in my shed. I'm subscribed to the channel, and will start watching your other videos to make sure I have a solid foundation in Winlink, and have a clear way forward in setting up my gateway. 73! Lou - W7KFT

I would really like to see Winlink Radio Only, to Radio Only setups explained and tested. I'd like to see how the system will work with no or very sporadic Internet.

In terms of gateway computers suggest thinking of:
    1. Diverse out of band management capabilities, i.e.. IPMI over cellular for gateways supporting EMCOMM teams.
    2. Computers that can run off of the same power supply as your radio, i.e. 12vdc, although long term outages will require a generator of some sort to either power the hardware or charge batteries.
    3. Fanless designs such as what runs in many industrial networks - the weak point in many computers is the cooling fan. No fan - no weak point!

What was your little gateway pc?

Hi Wade, My gateway runs on a Beelink T4 Pro Mini PC. Celeron N3350, 4GB RAM, 64GB. It is a very under powered little unit for most tasks but has handled the task of running my Winlink Gateway. It sips power on 12v and only runs the RMS gateway software. There are newer models but this gets the job done for me. I purchased 2x of these so I have a primary and a backup unit. Here is an Amazon Affiliate link to the unit I have, or feel free to search for the info above on amazon or elsewhere. amzn.to/3XOZXIV 73 W6AH

@@WaveTalkers Thanks. Add about 50% to the price you see. That’s the Australian price. Lol. VK1MIC

@@WadeAbout yikes! The price on the BeeLink machines varies widely on a day to day basis it seems everywhere. When I got mine a year ago I paid about 50% more than they are now. So keep your eye out for a deal, I know Oz prices get a premium kick though so I feel for you. Also there are lots of other little microPC that will get the job done. Hopefully you can find one that will work and be reasonably prices for you. 73 W6AH

All those gateway pro’s and not a single one shared how to actually get setup as a gateway.

@@DinnerForEight each subsequent episode goes into the specific settings for the type of gateway to be set up.
