    If you freeze the meat (which I know can't always be done) then it won't squish like it did. You'll also be able to cut it as thin as you want without a problem. Be sure to put on a thin winter glove or kevlar glove and then a vinyl or latex glove on the hand holding it so your hand doesn't get too cold.

    We bought a meat slicer from Marketplace about 3 yrs ago for $60. Looks and operates the same as yours except there are no slice thickness numbers on the knob in the back. This seller happened to be friends of ours so I knew the machine was well taken care of. We need to buy replacement suction cups but we figured out ways of keeping the machine still on the counter. Certainly comes in handy for slicing up pork belly 🤤

    When I need meat for chips I go to my butcher and get the meat sliced Carpaccio style. We don’t need to pay extra for slicing the meat how we need it here in Germany. This butcher is behind the meat counter of my grocery store, I buy packaged meat but for meat chips I buy from the fresh meat counter cause I can choose the meat I want. Around Christmas they will have elk and then I get some sliced and make elk chips.
    I still have beef, pork and turkey chips.

      @@KetogenicWoman Truly! We have the benefit of meat shopping on base @commissary, so prices are lower, meat is highly inspected, & butcher's go above & beyond in service. It's part of honoring active duty & retirees, & it's a lifetime benefit. My issue is forgetting to ask! That's about half the time, & other times they are so busy, I don't want to ask. Hence, having my own slicer is prudent~ I really like the one you chose Anita. I got the same meat slicer a few months back. When I first turned it on I thought ''Oh no what a P.O.S.'' as it runs slow. No lol it's awesome! It doesn't have to run at 1000 RPM to cut meat and I'm not running a butcher cutting cold cuts like prosciutto on it so there is no need for the crazy fast RPM.
    I love your videos, truly since watching your videos I have been able to make my diet feel more like a regular diet again. I am full carnivore however I do allow stevia and dairy. But not a lot of either. I started making your version of the carnivore cheese cake. I just whip up egg yolks now with stevia and glycine along with clean ''no gums or carrageenan'' philly style cream cheese and heavy whipping cream. Its soooooo goooood! I just mix it in a bowl and eat it right out of the bowl now as a meal/treat haha.
    I'm going to try this next week since I have not done meat chips this way yet. I have always just smoked whole muscle meat, then sliced it and dehydrated it as jerky.

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like jerky as well but find it can be too chewy. For the chips be sure to thinly slice the meat across the grain, that way they will be easy to eat like chips. Jerky is made by slicing along the grain and that makes it chewy. Enjoy!

We used to have a budget model slicer from Cabelas, but the gigmo that holds the blade in broke down. I haven't found a vggie slicer that's wide enough to slice the Jicama at it's widest point to make big round taco shells so I use it to make beef tendon chips.
      If you like big food project that take all day then you could make beef tendon chips. You need to boil it to soften then fridge them to stiffen them up then slice very thin to then dehydrate and then fry to make chips. They'll expand to twice or triple their size once they hit the oil and I love watching that, it's so cool. They turn into rice paper or shrimp chips (krepuk)

    Anita, thanks for this review. I’ve been looking for slicer for a long time. Is your link an affiliate link? If so, it may be the way I go. it’s not that expensive. the money could be earned back almost right away.
    Also, do you have a link to the knife you’re using? Or, might you suggest what type of knife for me to get? I’ve been eating carnivore for over two years and my knives are terrible. I’ve never been able to cut a steak from a roast. I need to remedy that especially if I’m going to use this machine.

    How tricky is it to clean the area behind the blade? I would think a lot of bits would fly back there, and it looks like a lot of little nooks and crannies in there. It's true that they wouldn't touch the meat you end up with, but it would get stinky and gross if you couldn't get it all out.

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I didn't find it tricky at all! Once you take out the blade it's easy to access all the areas with a wash cloth. I haven't had to do anything fancy!

    So, I guess you actually thought you could fool people by speeding up the video to make it look like it was slicing fast. I will let the people know that this is not capable of slicing fast. I had a similar one that I just threw out because of 2 main reasons. First, of course, is that it cannot slice fast like you see at the local deli. 2nd, It is very hard to actually get paper thin slices, like in chipped ham. It is easier if the meat is still frozen. If the meat is not frozen, don't even try to get thin slices.

      You have a lot to celebrate there! There is nothing easy about losing 142 pounds, I know this for a fact! Give yourself some credit and some grace! There were times where I just stayed the same weight for awhile even months sometimes, because it felt too hard to keep going. During those times it took every ounce of effort to maintain my weight and sometimes I slid backwards and had some gain. But eventually I always came back around and got going again. That's why it has taken me 10 years to lose what I have lost so far. When my Dad died in 2017 I gained back 40 pounds and stayed at that weight for over a year. It was just too hard. But eventually I got back to work. It's worth it and all the little losses add up. It doesn't matter how long it takes, just keep working on it as best you can! And celebrate the fact that YOU HAVE LOST 142 FREAKING POUNDS! That is a whole person ! Well done!💗
