    I was at a golf show in Las Vegas in 1975 and met a guy named John Ofer from Ohio. He had invented a golf club with driver length, 3-wood loft and a 1-degree closed face. He called it the 3-in-1 club. He sold thousands of them. All of these so-called hybrids are offshoots of that first experiment 50 years ago. His shop was close to Firestone in Akron, and a number of the pros used to buy clubs from him when they were there for the tournament there.

    Nice vid, thanks. Helped me decide to pick one of these up several weeks back. Six rounds in, it's a keeper and I no longer carry a driver. I prefer teeing off with a "normal" swing, which makes me the target market as mentioned. I find the Teton more consistent and easier to control than my driver. I find the fairway a lot more, and haven't yet sliced it into the next fairway over (knock on wood ;-). Generally I can count on at least 200 yds carry, up to around 230 on one of my better swings, plus roll...I can get more with my driver, but not very often and not often playable. Not so good with the Teton off the deck yet- sticking with my 19 degree hybrid.

      @bruhnvh 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DasViking I bought a new driver a little over a year ago and learned to swing it (lesson learned from the Teton: shorter shaft). I carry it further, get more roll, and can keep it in play, so I no longer carry the Teton full time. I still like it and enjoy hitting it, though...if a course calls for it, I carry/use it as my "somewhat reduced but still good distance" tee-off option. This past summer one of my rounds was with a friend who only golfs once/year (his swing is more baseball than golf), and I tossed it in with the set I loaned him. He was pretty consistent with it, keeping it in play on most every hole and even hammering several shots...he actually managed to out-drive me by a few yards on one hole. Youth and swing speed, go figure. 😛

    Todd, my buddies were calling me "short stick" when I first got my Teton. 195 carry with about 220 roll out . They were hitting 250 to 270 , but in rough, in the trees etc.. My Teton down the middle every time. I lost that nickname pretty quick when I beat them 4 to 6 strokes at the end of the day.

    Always hated driver, even after lessons with a PGA professional, I never liked it. I had great success hitting 3 fairway. It went just as far, if not further than driver. As a clubmaker, I know how to match shafts and clubheads to an individual. In the last couple of years I have tinkered with hybrids. I found (for myself), an unbeatable combination with a #2 hybrid head with a steel shaft. My swing speed is around 80-85 mph with this club and I consistently hit it around 200 yards, straight as an arrow. I absolutely love hitting this club. Now there is no driver or 3 fairway in my bag, so yes, hybrid off the tee for me!

    I’ve been playing about 1.5-2 years now and I enjoy the club. I shoot around 100 bc of my inexperience. where I have inexperience I make up for with athletic ability. I’m six five and built like a pro basketball player. I have the stiff shaft on the club and I hit this 220-260 in the fair way almost every time. Sometimes I duff it but that’s a maybe once or twice in 18. Most times I miss hit I find myself thinking I’ve hit a horrible shot only to find the ball 220 yards just off the fair way. A bad shot with a driver for me is usually GONE. A good shot is a massive 250-260 beautiful fade to A1 position. This club won’t help you id you have a really really bad swing but if you put the work in on your swing and get the fundamentals down this club could save you prob 5-10 strokes if you are a high handicap player.

    I've self applied similar rules for years and tend to use my 3-wood off the tee, especially early in the season before I've had much play or practice. I've found I don't give up much (if any!) distance, miss hits are rare even if my shot doesn't land exactly where I wanted it. Has anyone done a comparison of this Teton Hybrid driver vs. a 3 wood (not driver).

    Todd, this is a very interesting video for me as a senior player. I already use a hybrid on shorter par 4 holes. My driver is 12 degrees and I can still carry about it about 200 rolling out to 225 and those exceptional ones go about 250 total. My 19 degree hybrid is my choice for tee shots on tree lined and shorter par 4s and the total distance is 180 to 185. I have a 16 degree hybrid, but do not hit it off the tee; it goes about 200 but it is inconsistent. My question - how does the Teton play off the ground? The club is inexpensive so I will probably order it and see if I can hit it off the deck, but I would love to hear what you have to say about hitting this club off the ground.

    • @USGOLFTVshow

      Todd, I bought a Teton. Teton only goes about 10 yards further than my 19 degree hybrid. It is definitely more consistent and straighter than my Cleveland Halo Launcher 16 degree hybrid. I did replace the grip as it was way too small. I’ve played three rounds so far and I will report back later. The Teton does hit okay off the ground but it does need a decent lie. Teton cannot be hit from the rough unless it is less than 3/4 of inch deep.

    • @2Eaglez
      @2Eaglez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      After about a month with the Teton decided it is not for me. Can hit my 7 wood or my 3 hybrid about as far off the tee and can hit both of them much better off the ground. I can see where Teton could help some players, but for me it just didn’t go as far as my driver and on those tight par four and long par 3 holes, my 3 hybrid or 7 wood is a better tee option as both launch high and land softer.

      golf PGA teacher hits it far(I lent

    I have been really struggling with my driver lately. I don’t have issues getting loft with my fat face driver, but I have hit low to the left and right. I typically get maybe 3 really good drives out of 18 with my driver. I ended up with tendinitis in both my shoulders a few years ago and now it’s quite manageable. I just don’t have the power behind my swings like I should. I really like my hybrids and have really consistent shots with them. I never use my 3 wood so I even have a 3 hybrid in my bag. The Vixa is super hot off the face, which for a lot of amateurs it can be a little harder to control. I also hit the Colt Sprinter much farther than the Teton. If you are looking for a game improvement driver, also try The Autopilot 14, The Moonwood, The Monza, the Teeless, the x59 Smart Draw, and the GX-7. Mark my word, smaller heads with more weight are going to be the "new" technology. 10.5 degree drivers with head smaller then modern 5 woods.
    i have some Palm Springs stainless steel 3 and 5 wood with steel shaft. I can consistantly hit them 200 yards off the fairway. The 5 wood head is so small i think my irons have a bigger head.
    The "new" stuff is so enormous and lightweight there is no feedback whatsoever from your swing. I golfed a lot in the 90's, and then stopped due to work for almost 15 years. I HATE the new stuff. I retired the "new" Bridgestone driver I had and bought a Powerbuilt Persimmon off ebay for 40 dollars.

      @@garyfinkbiner6252 Hey! I finally got an email from Golf Knack. They sent out my Teton, and I actually have an email from UPS with a tracking number and a scheduled Tuesday delivery. Again, this is from a July 1st order (i.e. so they shipped on July 13). Hope you have some good news from them as well Gary!

      @@rayjones1455 Ray, they just scheduled mine for July 16. I hope our clubs aren't broken like a lot of people complained about

      @@garyfinkbiner6252 I'm getting mine on the 17th! I will post back here with my impressions. Please do the same! While I am trying to keep my expectations low, I am really looking forward to seeing how the club hits.

    This club is really awful. Unfortunately I bought one. Cheap feel. Heavy head. I have hybrids in the form of 9 and 11 woods by Callaway. They are unbelievable. Really can’t recommend the Teton hybrid. Rather use your 3 wood. Don’t waste your money on this club. Our local pro suggests eBay. Probably the worst club I’ve ever owned. Just not worth the money US$280 including postage. A total waste of money.

    It reminds me a lot of my 2008 Cleveland Launcher 1 Hybrid (15º loft, deep face, hybrid-length shaft).

      @@USGOLFTVshow Still have, and use it from time to time, since only one of every 10 3-Woods-Off-The-Deck don’t end up in someone’s back yard. For me the Holy Grail was a low lofted hybrid. Also had the older Sonartec 15* 1 Hybrid (difficult to hit), but the Launcher worked better. Too stubborn to give up on the 3 Woods, though.

    I don’t believe your swing speed and distance with Teton looks like 80’s mph and no way 200 plus yards . I hit my driver carry 200 plus yards with ss 93mph but on 180 with Teton. Come on be honest your a good salesman but you stretching the truth. I have played many rounds and best is 180 yards. Let’s see if u answer me

      Mike, appreciate the post. If your swing speed is 93mph, you should be carrying your driver well over 200 yards, more in the range of 230-240 if you are fit correctly. Keep in mind the Teton is for those will a little slower clubhead speed who also need height and accuracy to their shots. Hope that helps.

    Do not buy this golf club if you are a 10 handicap or less. You will consistently hook the ball. It is designed for golfers that slice the golf ball.
