    Thank you. This vid came up in my self-study of modern lubricants The evolution of lubricants has given us such superb materials to work with. Diagnostocs has given remarkable abilities to get just the right lubricants in right amounts in time.
    What i like most and what i thought revolutionary is how this points out and now makes a lie of the common wisdom that we should use more because oil/grease is cheap insurance. Now too much is only better way too little. Or do i misunderstand?

    Grease my old excavator every day before starting the day. Still tight with very little play in joints. Greasing works.

      The bearings on an excavator are also operated at low speeds. Also it’s bushings not bearings on an excavator boom which is a totally different application

      Sure but the main idea is not to lubricate bearings on a time-based schedule but on a condition-based schedule.

    I mean yeah thats a high-tech tool but for the average mechanic.. is it necessary?

    • @SDTHearMore
      @SDTHearMore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jake !
      The notion of necessary is all relative to your economic reality. Is it necessary to apply this approach to lubricate an engine that operates 10 hours per year and for which the criticality is low? Probably not not. Is it necessary or useful to do this on critical rolling bearings in a metallurgical production where the production stoppage amounts to several tens of thousands of €/$ per hour? It's up to you to answer.
