- Major and Minor moon positioning is discussed by some hunters as some of the best timing to hunt. In this clip Dr. Bronson Strickland of the MSU Deer Lab explains why hunters can see an increase in deer movement during the minor times. Also we cover other aspects of this GPS collar study looking at an overhead or underfoot moon and if there is any relation to increasing deer movement.
18 minutes later to bed and 6 min earlier getting out bed seems like a huge deal. I don't get why he brushed that off
It's something, but my bucks travel times will vary by 3-4 hours based on temp, and their bedding and feeding patterns change completely in certain wind and rain conditions, so when I look at best times to go hunt, temp and severe weather are the overwhelming factors.
What do you think of this GPS Study?
He's great !
I wish conservation did this on public land or somehow get a count on how many deer per mile or acres.
i think it is a minor window.
Well, I have a lot more confidence in a trail camera setup on a feeder than this. Obviously you see the most animals at the feeder dusk and dawn. However, I consistently see animals midday when the moon is straight overhead. My favorite time to hunt is whenever I can but, if the moon is straight overhead during the first or last hour of light. That is usually magic. If it is the rut, everything is out of the window.
