The enemy could build all those towers and make more army than yours because they were also at the in the lands of the eliminated players getting all the resources that you and your ally did not get. If you and your ally were taking those resources like gold and stone first, the enemies were not able to build as much towers and army.
Exactly, they would move their peasants with the army and take those resources and use them. They where able to make those towers because one, they didn't waste money on just building walls and two they built walls of towers which had interlacing fire to the point that you couldn't get past them unless you took those towers out first. There where so many opportunities for him to check attack purple early on and see what he was doing but he didn't do it.
