Stumbled on your video while I wad looking for mod ideas for my Wide Glide. My first bike was a Sportster and I've always liked the Nightsters and I can say, without any shadow of a doubt, your bike is the absolute SICKEST looking sportster (of any variety) I've ever seen. Your vinyl work and design scheme are great, I love your indicators. Overall a very well planned and put together bike, absolutely love it!
@Taylor M (no reply button on your post for some reason) I know, I had the same concerns, they're not listed as a fit for the Nightster, so I contacted PM and they guaranteed that the 6 piston calliper that I wanted was a direct bolt on (Part Nr. 0051-2917-BM). The 6 piston calliper needs a 13" rotor, but I think the 4 piston version is a direct fit on the stock 11,5 " rotor. If you have any questions, just drop PM a line via their website, they're quick to answer.
this is a really good looking bike mate well done i have a sportster here and its my first harley from 10 years ago and im going to do this similar style with mine for the custom looks
I had some big twins ,I have a evo softail now , but nothing sounds better then a sporty , twin cam. shovel, or evo, they just sound off the hook. and also Harleys always sound better with the idle up , I hate when there turned down.
Nice bike bro! You gave me so many ideas. If I were you I would definitely paint the engine black and put some black RSD upper fork covers on it to complete the look
The 883 I had gave me a problem back in '89. The starter dragged, and no one could ever figure out WHY the circuit breaker blew. Much wiser now, I advise EVERYONE who's considering a Sportster, to listen to the very one you wish to purchase before signing. . If it starts off the gitgo, you're good. If it makes a "chik. . . . " followed by a few second pause, your starter is dragging : ( I wish I had this little bit of info, before I got mine. .
Allen Rodriguez: It's not that hard, you just need a bit of patience. Cut off the excess bits with a dremel (the easy part), then reshape it with a heat gun to make it fit the frame properly (the patience part). If you're too easy with the heat gun, the plastic won't soften enough to reshape it, but if you're too eager with it, the plastic will go liquid on you. I pretty much worked a whole day to get mine the way I wanted it, but I still had to use filler on some spots to make it even.
Tony A: The new fairing is from eightball-custom.com I broke the old one and like you I searched all over the net trying to find a new one, but with no luck, so I settled for the one from eightball. Still like the evo one better though...
Where did you get the spoked wheels from? My 833n has had larger rear sprocket for longer gear ratios, 1250cc heads, stage 2 map + rolling road, screaming eagle high flow cone air filter, 4.5 gallon tank fitted and V&H short shots. She'll do wheelies it has so much torque beauty of a bike but I want the spoked wheels like the 48. Love the look of this!
Well, it's not meant as a long hauler, it's more of a fun/good weather/day trip/bar hopper kinda bike. As far as the forward controls goes, for me those are only a plus comfort wise. I'm 6'4"/194cm, so the stock mids felt cramped. I just pull over after an hour or so to shake off my numb butt :)
What can I say that already hasn't been said, definitely the best Nightster I've seen!! Love it! I noticed in the video you have the evo chin fairing which to date are out of stock and not available until 2017! :( (searched & searched) In your fb pics posted below I noticed a different chin fairing. Can you please tell me which one it is and curious if you would be at all willing to please sell the evo one? Thanks! Bike is badass!
hello! What a nice job you have made! Very good idea! Grips with indicators look fantastic! Could you tell me the website where did you buy them? thanks
Inspirational is the word I think when I watch this video. My hat's off to ya. May I ask where you acquired the front and rear turn signals? Thank you and,,,,well jealousy is the second word I can think of. Matt
Hi Fredrik, please let me know how it feels on the road with lowered progressive fork kit. i bought a progressive kit 2” lower on front forks and 11” shock absrorbers on rear (likee yours) but they are still in my sheed. i read many comments that the handeling will be affected after lowering. Second. let me know how you hide the elecrical wires. Looks very clean. PS: thatt is the most beautiful Nightster that i seen. Regards
Gabriel Munteanu Well, it's an improvement over the stock ones, but I think any shocks/forks with the word "lowered" on them means looks comes before comfort (unless it's air). This bike is definitely a case of looks before comfort/practicality :)
I have a home made side mounted plateholdet, attaches to the left side on the rear wheel axle (not installed on the video). The rear lights are the small black Kellermanns, combined light/brake/indicator.
How did you get the PM front caliper to fit? Is it the larger rotor? They are not sold to fit the Nightster with wire wheels. Curious cause I seriously need to upgrade my brakes
how comfortable are the Harley Drag Bars for longer rides? I was thinking about getting the RSD Clipons but although they are cool for some aggressive riding I can already hear my back scream. What I might try out is a pair of Convertibars they normally use on Sportbikes so I can eazily move the bars from clip on position to above Dragbar position.
Hey! Awesome inspiration. Question about the drag bars. Are these with or without dimples? Do you have cables running inside the bars? Also how good are the moto gadget grips? Cheers bud!
The bars have dimples, but I'm not using them, all electric wires are internal. I personally like the grips and they look great together with the bar end indicators. These are the billet ones, but they now sell rubber ones as well. motogadget.com/en/griff-taster/gummigriff-m-grip-soft/m-switch.html Only issue I've had with them so far was when the grub screws that holds the inner retaining ring vibrated loose. Put some thread lock on them and its been ok since.
Sweet Ride .Can you tell me where you got the Rocker Boxes ? I seen some on E Bay But I am reluctant to buy as sometimes China quality is poor. Thanks in addvance.
They're original RSD, so not cheap. However, it's only a cover, nothing strucal, so cheaper Chinese stuff will work fine, but from experience the colors will fade faster on Chinese bits.
Man your bike looks terrific every day more! I just bought the kellermann like yours, any advices for how to wiring them? Do you have equalizers on? I've the same bike, thanks
If you have a Nightster you'll have a “taillight converter unit”, you won’t need that any more. You will use 5 cables from the Harley harness: Ground : Black Running light: Blue Brake light : Red/Yellow Left turn : Purple Right turn : Brown Kellermann cables: Ground : Black Running light : Grey/White Brake light : Grey/Red Turn signal : Grey Hook them up and add a resistor parallel to each indicator if you want to avoid the fast flashing rate. I think I used the 7.5 Ohm ones.
Fredrik Joberger Thank You Fred, i was getting crazy with all that wiring! I've a 2009 Nightster too and i agree it's a prefect customizing model. Now time to chop that rear fender off...
I got a front spoiler for my 2008 Nightster too, but the hex bolts that bolt the bracket the frame seem to be too bit... I think they're 3/8 16 x 3/4 inch. Do you know what the right size is for the bolts you used for your front spoiler?
Did you get away with existing control cables when you fitted the drag bar or did you have to replace them? Very cool machine, love the rear fender work. Really nice line with that seat. Looks like I'm off to start spending some cash.
Used stock lenght to begin with, but recently changed the clutch cable to a couple inches shorter. It's got to make a quite brutal first bend down from the grip, so a bit shorter than stock is good. No problems with the throttle and brakes though.
Question? How does your cam cover work without using the other alignment stud? Do your cams move out of alignment? Or, did you figure out a way to not use the other camshaft alignment stud? Looks great; but, I wonder if it's good to the cams to cut off the alignment stud off of the cam cover... Your Bike is beautiful; let me know how you mounted your camshaft cover... Peace, Stiletto :)
Stiletto : I read up about it before I did it and so many had done it without any issues, so I just went for it. There's even aftermarket covers now that don't have it, like FigureMachine and similar. If I remember right it's more important on earlier Sportsters when the tolerances were less precise. Mine was a very tight fit with just the front stud and so far so good. Still thinking about getting the VulcanWorks billet cover though, which also uses the rear stud, but it's around $500.
Very cool. I purchased one, like yours on eBay, a while back. I thought maybe you had a secret to mounting these without the second alignment dowel. I've wanted to mount the one I have. I talked to Aaron Wilson, at Hammer Performance, the person that I like to get performance advice and parts from, and I decided to not install it, due to alignment issues. Hammer performance and NHRS will take a stock cam cover and cut it down for $95. I just purchased another cam cover on eBay, that I plan on sending to Hammer for modification. Aaron Wilson recommends that you keep both alignment dowels on the cover for precise cam alignment. He claims that without both alignment dowels you risk the chance of the cams becoming unaligned and causing damage to your cams, oil pump drive gear, and crank gear. But, I do like the way it looks without the lower alignment dowel, the best. But, I worry about damage. I have SE 575 Cams and Spring Kit. Check out Hammer and talk to Aaron. He said this is especially important if you have a performance modified Scoot, like mine. By the way, I love your Sporty, it's bad ass... :) Peace, Stiletto :)
You've done a FANTASTIC job with this bike, man. I just bought a 2007 Nightster and am basing a lot of my custom work on the overall look of yours. I'll have a some noticeable differences, but I want this streamline look. What size tank lift did you do?
Sharp ride! Where did you relocate the ECM? I’m guessing in the battery box.. if that’s the case, are you hiding any fuel management in there like a Power Commander too? I’d love to see how you have it set up. I have an ‘09 Nightster and I’m fighting with hiding all the electrical bulls**t.
Good work on the bike. Yeah I was looking at the rizoma front pulley and rizoma pulley cover I saw them paired together looks sick. You said in the video you needed to make modifications to the front pulley I saw that the rizoma front pulley was for the European bikes only. Guess my question is what modifications to the pulley did you have to do and how hard was it to do yourself. Again great looking mods on the sportster well done sir. Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Just so everything is clear; there's no Rizoma pulley (as far as I know) they only sell pulley covers, one inner and one outer. The one I have is the inner cover. The Rizoma cover is supposed to fit inside the front pulley/sprocket and since the US pulley has one tooth less than the Euro version, the inner diameter of the US pulley is smaller, so the cover doesn't fit inside. Solution: use a lathe to increase the inner diameter on the pulley and reduce the outer diameter on the cover, so the parts can fit together. The material on the cover isn't thick enough to only tweak that, and you don't want to "eat" too much on the pulley either, so you'll need to do a bit of work on both. ...or just buy a Euro 30 teeth pulley :) Some pictures here: i1147.photobucket.com/albums/o555/FredPhuket/HDRizoma3_zps5a550f3e.jpg i1147.photobucket.com/albums/o555/FredPhuket/HDRizoma2_zpsde0b761b.jpg i1147.photobucket.com/albums/o555/FredPhuket/HDRizoma4_zpsdf4c1715.jpg

Agree, Nightsters are great, real fun to modify.
Only one thing I'd add to this bike personally and that's a headlight mask just to give it a mean face but this is sick I love it!!
Nice job, cool blinkers, that's a sweet example of what a nightster can look like.
Very nice, I ride that same year Nightster! Just getting started on the modifications.
This is probably the coolest sportster I've seen on the internet.
THIS is what a sportster was born to look like.
The 200 rear tyre would finish that off lovely 👍🏽 may have to convert to chain drive
The rear Fender Looks fantastic!
I love all the details. Totally how I’d build my sportster if I had the budget. Great job.

The material on the cover isn't thick enough to only tweak that, and you don't want to "eat" too much on the pulley either, so you'll need to do a bit of work on both.
...or just buy a Euro 30 teeth pulley :)

Fredrik Joberger yeah I saw those too didn't quite know how I felt about them. I like rizoma cover because it looks like the rear sprocket.
