I bought a used BCS that was only used once and ended up in storage for over 20 years. It had the 6hp. ACME motor. The first thing I had to do was replace the fuel lines, change gear oil, and engine oil. I had a hard time finding parts for the Acme engine, like a carb rebuild kit but after a good ultrasonic cleaning, and a new carb kit installed it fired up on the third pull. Has worked really well. Recently I found out the hard way that the Acme engines have a plastic bracket bolted to the flywheel housing the magnets for elec. system. old plastic cracked and magnets exploded tearing up the coil. I have since found a new kit that includes a new flywheel and coil for Acme. All metal and better than new.
Same here the 720 BCS was stored for 20 years, I took apart the Briggs And Stratton head and valve to decarbonized the inside, the motor runs fine but the BCS cone clutch is stuck solid. Never heard of ACME engine, I will look it up. thanks
On the older tiller, also notice the directional tred on the new tires are running opposite directions, the left, from the right. -One of the tires was installed reversed on the wheel. It looks like someone gave it a very surface DIY novice sprucing up for sale.
Acme was the Italian equivalent to the briggs, and what was put on all BCS tractors before Briggs and honda. that had a 23mm tapered shaft and had the weird bolt pattern as does the BCS. That way they didn't need the adapter kit they used today for the 1" shaft on briggs and honda. Kohler makes a direct replacement for the old Acme setup as they bought out Lombardini, which is who bought out Acme. the old ACME motors ran very well, and are easy starting. The Only drawback was the original flywheel, but if a person puts the new flywheel kit on it before it wipes out a coil it'll last as long as any of them.
4:04 My 710 is experiencing the same problem being stiff with the pto clutch. It is used what is the reason why it does this and is their way to fix it?
Hi it supposed to rotates, if the previous owner never had to rotate the handles because he did not need to (like switching implement tiller/snowblower) does handles seize really good. Used penetrating oil and moved from left to right until you get more play. Repeat until you get the full motion….dont force too much, it will just bent the shaft. On the one in the video, it was so seized up, I would had to take the whole thing apart, so I just used it has a tiller
@@JoeBakerOutsideTheBox I figured it out it's a common problem. All the bcs has this. There's a sleeve pin inside the ball joint. You have to grease it every so often if you don't it'll seize it's got a grease cert on it. Thank you for your reply. I wasn't sure if I was gonna get a reply from people on TH-cam. So I emailed BCS. And they told me what the reason was
$800 If it was top shape ready to work, otherwise deduct all possible repair, new tires, tune up...etc. are the attachement in good shape? Engine part sells for fair price (Briggs, Honda, Subaru, Kohler) but parts from BCS are really expensive...good luck
What do you know about the BCS 205? I'm looking at one for sale locally. He's asking $695. Thanks for posting this video by the way, I've got a few things to look for.
Hi I dont have experience with that model but I had 215 for a while (about 5hp like 205) My 215 work fine for tilling a small garden, my only complaint was the speed selection wich was slow and extremely slow it was annoying to go from the tool shed to the garden 100 feet away. Its also limited in other BCS attachement but otherwise great little machine. Ps: make sure the clutch is not seized
MY FRIEND.. MY BROTHER I HAVE ONLY ONE QUESTION FOR YOU THAT.. HOW DO KEEP THIS ENGINES AS LIKE NEW AND CLEAN STILL AFTER TWEETY YEARS AND FOUR YEARS ALSO.. EVERYONE MUST WANNA KNOW ANSWAR OF THIS QUESTION BCOZ EVERYONE CAN TAKE CARE OF THEIR MACHINES AND EQUIPMENTS AS LIKE YOU AND THATS PLEASE ANSWAR MY QUESTION PLZ...
Look in my channel for unstucking a clutch, depending on the price and what needs to be done, I would choose used over new. Not just to potentially save money but also I like the ergonomica of the older one...if you can, try both new and older one
I have no experience with Grillo, but from the specs and their history, It seem a really good choice. Specially the Diesel Kolher...maybe the only thing would be part availability where you live.
Seem a little high for a 13 year old BCS, there is no real way to know if the 6.5HP engine really has only 50 hours ...a brand new one would cost you about $1000 more wich included a warranty on everything. Not a good deal in my eyes mostly I think the 6.5hp is bit underpower
+MARIAN CIPRIAN Sabou Regular gear oil should be changed every 2 to 3 year, synthetic gear oil 6 to 8 year. The most important thing to do is to check and top up to the proper level. Dark colour or hazy cloudy gear oil should be change.
@Kuv Koj i priced a bcs with the attachments and they wanted $12,000 and the dr field and brush mower with 42'' mower deck, brush hog, chipper and the blade and snowblower $4,000
@@JoeBakerOutsideTheBox too much to go wrong with newer tillers ,, in my opinion ,,,, I read this morning about simplicity tillers , they are really cool !
For a commercial operation, the high initial cost you paid for the machine durability and reliability is well worth it...the machine with proper maintenance can last several decades and they keep their value if you decided to resell
But what about the long list of things that go wrong? For the price that sure is a long list. My Troy Bilt Horse is 40 years old and I have 250 bucks in it and zero problems. Why would I pay more for problems? At least on half an acre I don't need a bigger tiller.
I totally agree with you and feel the same way about my Simplicity 50 years old tiller. BUT not everyone can find a good old machine in decent running order (newer Troybuilt and others are not built strong anymore) so BCS tiller is an excellent choice for serious gardener and small scale commercial grower if you can afford it.
