    Well organised, doing the same with Silver perch’ will go to barramundi eventually, I also have red claws as bottom dwellers in the IBC outside, finally I use rainwater only. great video.

    With no filter in the tank, do you just change the water a lot?

    Hello,
    Great setup !
    I am interested in starting up a similar system. How much space does this systems take? I will be having the system in west Africa where it is very hot, do you think I will need a greenhouse to regulate the temperature ?
    Thanks !

      Hi! one system is about 1,8x0,8m an about 90cm high. 1 fishtank and 2 growbeds with bellsiphons. where are you from? what's the temperature? if you use tilapia for your system it should be no problem. if your water gets warmer you always have to keep in mind that you need enough oxygen in the tank. use bell siphons and oxygen pumps!

      Stefan Saurer Thanks for the reply.
      I am from Mali, west Africa . I am more interested into tilapia, catfish and shrimp.
      The average yearly temperature is 30 deg celcius
      In the hotest months ( april may june ) it can go up to max 40 deg celcius .
      And in the cold months ( jan Dec ) the lowest is between 15 -20 deg celcius
      I want to start on a small scale, then grow to a commercial one.

      Stefan Saurer and also how many fish do you have per tank ? Do you have a lab for the eggs ? ( i watched a plenty of other videos some people do )

    • @stefansaurer4690

      tilapia (oreochromis niloticus) and catfish (clarias gariepinus) should be fine!
      I always try to keep the stocking density around 0,5-0,8kg fish/40l tankwater. I have several breeding tanks to breed my next tilapia generations. I'm working on a videoclip of breeding aquaponic tilapia at the moment, but I'm not finished yet.

    Do you treat the water with and add beneficial bacteria? Would they still be edible?

    • @organicfoodera
      @organicfoodera 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      only natural bacteria like in ponds, lakes or rivers. sure they are!

    How did you get the worms for the fish?
    can you share how did you produce them?

    • @TangBengYong
      @TangBengYong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are mealworms, just google them. Not the best for feeding fish though as they have hard skins.

    What type of tilapia are they?

    • @TangBengYong
      @TangBengYong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably nile tilapia (O. niloticus) as they have vertical stripes on the tail fin. These grow the biggest but are less tolerant of saltwater than O. mossambicus.

    nice video but is red tilapia with it

    • @TangBengYong
      @TangBengYong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Red tilapia are hybrids of 2 or 3 species, so they will not breed. Because they don't breed, they grow bigger without breeding and overcrowding the tank. However you have to buy the fingerlings as you can't breed them yourself.
