- This Omega KDC-10 Tanker has been a regular visitor at Prestwick Airport in Scotland over the period 2015 to 2022.
The chicks are usually USM F-18 Super Hornets but even the Canadian's have used this mother hen to drag their CF-18 Hornets in leui of their Polaris and C130 Tankers.
Footage taken from each of the main spotting areas at PIK, the mound, The bridge, Monkton field and "The Walloper free zone" opposite the top gun esque Control Tower.
I reckon I have the following dates:
1. 21st August 2015
2. 29th April 2019
3. 5th June 2017
4. 16th June 2017
5. 17th June 2017 - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Really great video fabulous watch Jim 1👍
Good afternoon from nearby Troon. Good to see this unusual traffic; always quiet but never dull at Prestwick. I'll wager the chicks came in with flickering bladder overpressure lights! Thank you Jim for the feed; we don't know each other but I've seen many of your videos!
Hi Robert - Thanks for your kind comment and keep watching - much more to come!
Hello and thanks!
Want to let you know that the image was jumping around a lot. Not sure why, but made it hard to watch.
Thanks again!
Oh, I do wonder why, anyone else having issues?
Hi Jim. How do you find out what and when these aircraft are at Prestwick. Been down a few times but it's just been pot luck. Thanks in advance.
There is an excellent facebook group called "Scottish Aviation Photographers" which has a daily headsup thread for PIK, GLA, EDI, Aberdeen and Dundee. Ask to join that and tell them Jim sent you!
KDC10 ..ex dutch KLu air force aka
T-???or not
The RNLAF had DC10-30's, similar to the USAF KC-10A. This -40 was purchased from JAL in 2006 and converted to a tanker.
@dcgriff82 RNLAF have bought insecond hand DC10-30CF from Martinair cargo. Later converted in KDC10 around 1993 ,i think.
Martinair planes were the first civilian DC10 converted in Tanker.
USAF KC10 was built in assembly line for brand new tanker.
@dominiqueroudier9401 This is correct regarding the Ex-Dutch KDC-10's. This rare -40 was bought from JAL,by Omega. Also correct on the KC-10's. I worked KC-10's for 17 years as a USAF mech. The Dutch birds shared our tech support and were supported by our supply spares system.
@dcgriff82 thanks for info, mate. Was a former "kero"gas station attendant like many other ground crews. Working only with Mirage F1C-200. We have had 12 C135FR ( 1 crashed in Polynésia) and 3 KC135RG. Now all sold to METREA, à civilian tanker operator, replaced now by a doyen of A330 MRTT ,brand new, later 3 others civil A330-200 Will be converted in MRTT in à couplé of year.
Many foreign air force thought it s better than KC46 Pegasus !!!
