Another way to do this where you can export as a single grouped object is to raise the text slightly, just by 0.01mm. that's enough for the slicer to treat it as a different colour but not enough to actually add another layer to the print.

Nice trick. =) Thanks for sharing. 💯👍

Thanks for keeping it simple. I received my P1S about a month ago and I can’t stop printing. I thought I enjoyed my other printers, but the P1S is so fast, and simple. That being said, I’m still learning the machine.

Always a pleasure. =) The P1S is amazing. I will keep sharing as I play too. Printers sure have come a long way since my first one back in 2014!

That's interesting how the color-fill gives you that strange, incomplete look that then clears up when you slice it. Thanks for the tips once again.

I agree. I’m still learning, so if I find something more slick I’ll share. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks bud. I printed a 2nd one with the raised letters and it was 5 minutes faster. The filament swap really slows it down.

I can't wait for you to discover dissolvable supports and dissimilar materials (PLA/PETG).

Agreed! There are not enough hours in the day right now!! =-)

Yeah the slicer paint feature is what you need. It'll take your work to the next level. That should be an upcoming video hopefully
These designs are great, but they could easily be done on a regular printer by pausing and swapping filament.

Slicer paint is slick. Agreed on the simplicity of these projects, but a user had a question so I jumped in there. =) Cooler stuff will be around the corner.

Good afternoon, I admire your videos, what you do and teach people this is wonderful.
Please tell me how to convert stl model to STEP format so that there are no triangles, so that the model becomes solid and can be worked with in engineering programs?

I have not worked with STEP files yet. I have heard that Fusion 360 can make them though. Thank you very much for the kind words too. 👍

Thank you. I was wondering how that paint feature worked.

I’ve wanted to accomplish a similar task. Imagine a screw hole in a cylinder that I didn’t make so I don’t know the dimensions of the cylinder. I want to make a plug in the side to cover the hole a different color and make the plug fit the curve. Have you done something like this yet or can you?

    • @HLModTech
      @HLModTech  หลายเดือนก่อน

If you are just going to fill the hole you do not need to match the screw. In Tinkercad just make your plug to cover the screw hole area and export both parts. Here I am changing names, but the idea is similar to your screw hole I believe. th-cam.com/video/reUesJ0rafc/w-d-xo.html

Thank you for the reply. That’s not exactly what I need help on since that is an easy flat surface. I tried to keep the scenario simple but what i really want to do is take giant yellow lego fig model head (cylinder) and add his eyes (plugs example) and mouth as black. I want the eyes and mouth to follow the outer wall of the head smoothly and not stick out at odd angles. The eyes and mouth are images that I’ll convert to stl unless I can draw it easy in tinkercad

Do you use Tinkercad at all? Check this out. www.tinkercad.com/things/fN49WPt5wvJ-lego-head It is not my design, but that would be really easy to paint the same way I did in my video.
