- Newcastle Gaol Museum Precinct
Take a step back in time and discover the era of Moondyne Joe, Western Australia's most famous bush ranger. Less than an hour here can transport you back 150 years!
Enjoy the authentic surroundings and original artefacts. Have fun enjoying the tiny cells, wander through the Old Police Stables and retrace Toodyay's colourful past - will you discover some secrets? There are a number of hands-on activities to try.
The Newcastle Gaol, Police Stables, 1907 Lock-up and the Wicklow Shearing Shed are part of a historic complex of buildings associated with law and order. The Newcastle Gaol was completed in 1865, replacing two previous lock-ups at old Toodyay (now West Toodyay) and the Convict Depot Barracks at Newcastle.
The precinct has public toilets and outdoor shaded areas for your convenience.
