I would KILL to have this kind of memory recall. It must be so helpful to have another person alongside you during your entire memory forming life so you can strengthen these memories during discussion. I'm 24 and I have issues recalling things from high school and college. They talk about these things with such CLARITY. Obviously these are pivotal moments in their lives, but jeeze, I can't imagine recalling song lyrics I wrote on a paper plate. Outstanding.

I really respect you all for delving into such a personal and complicated subject. This resonates deeply with me as someone who grew up in a baptist church my whole life with a father who is a preacher. I haven't even finished watching this yet (I will) but I know that when your views start changing and you begin questioning certain aspects of almost inherently held beliefs, it can be difficult in many ways. Besides the disappointment/judgment you may start experiencing from family and friends, it can also seem as if a war is ongoing inside yourself. As a 31 year old who has experienced some travel, various schools (doctoral student), and just meeting so many different individuals, my belief system has underwent big changes with no 100% definitive conclusions in all aspect. In other words, this is something I still grapple with in many ways. Wrapping up this extremely long comment, again just wanted to say kudos for being open to talking about such subjects and I truly believe that the majority, if not all of your fans will be open and understanding that everyone's beliefs deserve to be respected and diversity in this regard is what makes the world great.

I find that a lot of people from the South who are TH-camrs or other internet people don't talk about their lives growing up re: religion and what not (whether for fear of backlash or whatever else), and it's nice to be reminded that you're not alone in this environment.

Thank you for telling your story. I was raised southern baptist in middle TN so I completely understand where you are coming from. I fully understand how difficult it can be to tell this story. While I no longer believe many of the things I was raised to believe, many of the ways I was raised inform who I am today, just as you have said.
I know it isn't easy to tell this story but I applaud you for doing so. It is clear that you love and support your crew, and many of them are LGBTQIA. Your fans love and respect you, and if they're anything like me, they will respect you even more for telling this story (and I hope they all understand why you were reluctant to speak on it. I know I do). Your respect and thoughtfulness to your crew and your fans is not diminished because of where you came from, and I would argue, that being who are you is made all the more impressive, considering where you are from.
Thank you for this personal look into your adolescence and I look forward to continuing with you on your journey.

Also just being fans of you guys for the past like 8 years (which is wild) it was so dope to get more of an insight into your lives and what made you guys the people you are today. So thank you for making this!!

I've had a long history with religion and I'm not a fan of proselytizing. That being said, it's incredibly interesting to hear about the other side of religion from two people I deeply respect. It's so fascinating to me to see how big of an influence religion can be in people's lives. Thank you for sharing your story with us. :)

i grew up watching rhett and link, and as an adult grew apart from their content, i would always check in on them and whatnot, but finding this podcast has actually been a wonderful experience. i feel like i am getting to know the people i wish were my dad better, instead of hearing awful stories about my own father that make me ashamed to exist. i just love their positivity and kindness

#earbiscuits You guys and Kevin Smith, I could listen to tell stories forever. My dad is a Baptist Minister here in Kentucky, so I was raised in much the same way as you guys, and I am the lead singer of a rock band which I started doing to confront my own social anxiety disorder. Loving this revelation and greatly looking forward to the next episode! Your inspirations, influences, reflections, and personalities are all invaluable components of what make you, YOU, and your fans adore you. Origin stories are fascinating. Keep fighting the good fight and being yourselves.

Wow, THANK YOU for sharing this part of your lives. Highly anticipating the next few Biscuits. I'm sure lots of questions will be answered in the Biscuits to come. I can't wait to hear about where your spiritual journey has brought you to at this point. What does your family in NC think about where you're at now (spiritually)? Your wives? And what spiritual foundation are you providing your children? Very curious about your children, especially since thus far in your story having the foundation you had for your childhood seems to have effected you in such a positive way.

You guys are surprising me a little with how you came from evangelical to where you are now. I grew up very religious and had to go through some trying times for my religious views to eventually change into what they are now. I guess I'm amazed that you morphed away from similar views without going through the shorter process that I did.

I didn't want to post this comment with the long rambling more meaningful one I posted. I could listen to them talk about anything. As a Canadian, I really love their voices. They don't have the accent as strongly at times, but amazing voices.
