    Great video! I got my double sal a couple weeks ago, almost by accident, on the first try at a practice. I find it easiest to do from axel-halfloop, since I already have the right position in the axel, and I don’t have too much time to think about the sal. Now I’m working on getting it more consistent and trying it from different entrances. Good luck to everyone else working on this jump!

    Thank you Sofia !
    I’ve just achieved my Axel in a week thanks to all the detailed videos on youtube (I was ready for the axel, obviously, and could do most of the preparatory exercises).
    Now, there’s so much strength in my single salchow I can’t hold it anymore so I’ll just go for the double. Thanks for the example and exercises, this will help me a lot !
    (To any American skater that could be shocked by my comment : the rule in France is group classes, not private lessons. The level in my class goes to loop jumps maximum, the next class does axel and doubles like it’s a normal thing, so my level is in between and that’s why I’m learning them on my own.
    I’ve done that with most things due to the same reason. I just do them no matter how and get them corrected later when I reach a higher level group).

    Should you be able to do a double jump off ice before you can learn it on ice?

    When would you say is the right moment to start trying my first double? I have my axel pretty constant, but I don't have coach yet. Thank you!💜⛸

    • @Sofabar
      @Sofabar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you can do axel, then you can start doubles no problem! Hope you are able to find a coach, that is very important!❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Quick question: When is it too late to start skating for big competitions like championships or big goals that require younger starting points? (sorry if this question has already been answered)

    • @yenht_
      @yenht_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Johnny Weir is someone, who started when he was 13 years old but I've heard he mastered the axel jump within a few weeks or so... I guess unless you're a naturally talented skater you should be around 4-7 years old.

      @@gracechen2813 but you can compete in many Competitions and Championships for Adults, both national and international

    • @Sofabar
      @Sofabar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's never too late to start skating. However to go to competitions like nationals, worlds, Olympics, etc. The majority start around 3-6 years old these days. Before you could start later, but the level has increased immensely in the last few years, that people are now starting earlier. In some extreme cases already at 1 and half years old or 2 years olds. It's crazy! As the comment mentioned below, Johnny Weir started at 12-13 years of age, but this is an exception. A very rare one! With all that said. That doesn't mean you can never participate in competitions. There are many adult competitions and the ISU Adult Competition is very big! So don't be discouraged and give it a try. I'm sure you will find that you will love it! It's all about having fun and love for the sport! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
