Just FYI...In his version, the COMBINE command [he uses to create the threads in the nut] is located in the Mold Tools tab and easy to find. BUT if you have a newer version, the COMBINE icon is nested down in the INSERT/FEATURE pulldown menu (when in a PART, not an ASSEMBLY).
FINALLY. I FIGURED OUT THE SWEPT CUT.I was using this as a guide for another bolt, but the sketch used to cut the thread was to large. I'll go back and adjust the dimensions to get a better sweep cut groove.
Nice Tutorial not only because of drawing Bolt and Nut but also because of the extra animation. Thank You very much and I hope to see more of this great sruff.
Looking, looking for just this. Finally! I would not have figured this out and I need to mate two parts with threads (not nut and bolt). Very big help. Thanks so much.
Great video! Your teaching style is very clean, and easy to grasp. I like your calm demeanor and want to learn more from you. Hope to hear from you. I apologize if I did not get your name correct.
Thanks very much for the video. It is certainly one of the best videos I have ever seen of how to make a nut and bolt. I really appreciate the excellent tutorial. If you have any other tutorials, I would love to know about them, since I am a relatively new user.
At 06:35 , are the dimensions of triangle so important ?? I am the beginner level in the solid, and i watched many videos and everyone defined this triangle with respect to their way
My swift cut is not working , though the sketch is fully defined and i pierced the sketch with the helix as u showed , but when i click OK , for swift cut it shows "Rebuild error, swift operation failed to complete ". Please !!! suggest me , what should i do or how can i solve this out .
Great job...but I still have a question...after the helix finished, the screw i created with the "edge" at the end of the screw, not as smooth as you did...do not know why..that is confusing me, hope you can give some answer to me...thanks...
Hi, what video card do you have? I have a problem using Solidworks, after a few minutes trying to work my display driver crashes and solidworks is not responding anymore, i tried some other versions of catalyst on my pc but didn't work( I have ATI Radeon videocard with Intel HD Graphics). I read on Solidworks forum that most users have proffesional video cards, should i try anymore to use Soliworks?
If you cant find 'Combine' Right click on one of the tabs (i.e features, sketch) and select 'direct editing' it will show a tab and the combine tool is there
lost me completely on the triangle part of the helix and spiral, you didn't talk for about 2 minutes and no idea what you did when you clicked smart dimension at 6:50
Thanks man for such a great video. But could u tell me why u choose those dimension for the thread. I mean why 59deg and all the stuff. I know it is for thread but which dimension stand for what? so in real practice if I will do it. Thanks
Can you do the opposite and make the threads on the bolt stick out and the threads on the but cut in ? I'm making a representation of a torch for a project
Hi, When I create the notch ( Triangle ) and try to pierce it to the helix. I get an error message that says " No intersection found for pierce point." Do you know what could be the problem ? Thank you
I really enjoyed watching your video and hearing the dialogue that described each part of the process from beginning to end. I have a question for you, how did you record the video, and do so without hearing mouse clicks and/or keyboard noises in the background?
By now, Solidworks should really have a toolbar just for making Screws / Bolts, Nuts and Gears. It is cool to have instructions like the video here, but for 99% of the time people want to use standards and not waste time designing their own.
+10p6 Well I don't know what an M10 Hex head bolt is if it's not a simple stocked item? Or a Phillips Pan Head Screw 10-32 x 1" long. What else would you consider simple stocked Items . There is just about every type of Imperial threaded hardware out there.
Plus, for holes with threading, I mostly use the hole wizard. Doesn't make visibly nice threads but they sure are there... (there is a shading option to "show" the threads but it's not very pretty...)
Very Nice Job. Kindly, I would like to know, if we want to attach 2 plates with the created bolt and nut, is having threads necessary? Apparently, for fastening parts just we do mating!!! I am asking from analysing point of view not just drawings .... Thanks
thx for this video although I only have 123d so is there a method in 123d to produce a helix or thread you may have gathered Im new to all 3D workings and would apprec
Hi, great videos. I have one question. Is it the same operation when you go with your mouse and click the 'Select' and when the 'esc' button is pushed on the keyboard? Thanks
AMAZING...O.O thanks for this video! Just a question Mr. Zen! How do we resolve the problem about interference without ignore it? Can I make the surfaces coincident and then remove this mating or is it a dummy idea?
Hi, thanks for uploading a great tutorial! It really helps me a lot. But why I cant find toolbar for mold tool and surface in my solidworks? Btw, I'm using solidworks 2012. Thanks.
Just FYI...In his version, the COMBINE command [he uses to create the threads in the nut] is located in the Mold Tools tab and easy to find. BUT if you have a newer version, the COMBINE icon is nested down in the INSERT/FEATURE pulldown menu (when in a PART, not an ASSEMBLY).
hi, cristopher the option COMBINANE you can find in menu->Insert->Operation Tools, i hope it was usefull.
Thank you! I couldn't find it in my version
exactly!!! i found it.
nsert / feature
thanks mr.christopher
hi
can you help me please .
go to Insert> Features . mine was there :)
FINALLY. I FIGURED OUT THE SWEPT CUT.I was using this as a guide for another bolt, but the sketch used to cut the thread was to large. I'll go back and adjust the dimensions to get a better sweep cut groove.

the best bolt and nut animation tutorial for beginers , thanks a lot my freen.
Looking, looking for just this. Finally! I would not have figured this out and I need to mate two parts with threads (not nut and bolt). Very big help. Thanks so much.
What do we do without you?
lifesaver!
Important tutorial! clear to understand and easy to follow the steps. Thank you!❤🙏
very clear and thorough process. Tooling engineering fascinates me greatly.
GREAT JOB! I appreciate the animation, as a lot of tutorials do not go that far. Thank you.
John Meisenheimer Thanks for your sincere compliment!
Great video! Your teaching style is very clean, and easy to grasp. I like your calm demeanor and want to learn more from you. Hope to hear from you. I apologize if I did not get your name correct.
Wow this was great! It was so hard to follow stuff like this in Class but I followed this 100% . Really appreciate the work!
thanks a lot bro.... you saved my life u r the best. i've seen many tutorials of this but yours is a lot better :)
Short and sweet tutorial. Really liked this one. Thank you.
Mac 78 Thank you!!
Thank you. The thread making tutorial was GREAT !! great job
Thanks very much for the video. It is certainly one of the best videos I have ever seen of how to make a nut and bolt. I really appreciate the excellent tutorial. If you have any other tutorials, I would love to know about them, since I am a relatively new user.
I learned a lot today, very great job
Thanks this helps! But only challenge is getting the specs right to a 5/16-18 UNC thread.
At 06:35 , are the dimensions of triangle so important ?? I am the beginner level in the solid, and i watched many videos and everyone defined this triangle with respect to their way
Thanks for the good tutorial. You make it really easy to follow.
Nice tutorial!! most i like is the animation even though it is basic animation, i really learn a lot. thanks
great job, this was my first use of solidworks, and i done it, i like your calme way
My swift cut is not working , though the sketch is fully defined and i pierced the sketch with the helix as u showed , but when i click OK , for swift cut it shows "Rebuild error, swift operation failed to complete ".
Please !!! suggest me , what should i do or how can i solve this out .
Nice tutorial, well run, so clear and precise narrative. Thank you!
Thank you very much Carlos, you just need to subscribe, we have a lot of other fun projects in the future. Stay connected!
simply superb.... Really Amazing.....
awesome way to get thread from bolt to nut, thankyou so much Sir. #Solidworks Zen
Great job...but I still have a question...after the helix finished, the screw i created with the "edge" at the end of the screw, not as smooth as you did...do not know why..that is confusing me, hope you can give some answer to me...thanks...

Excellent Lesson my friend! thank you
Hello there,
I don't understand the part of video from minute 17.00. why did he put for the seecond time the screw mates?
If you cant find 'Combine' Right click on one of the tabs (i.e features, sketch) and select 'direct editing' it will show a tab and the combine tool is there
A very Good work. I really appreciate.
where did you find, or how did you calculate, the dimensions to make the bolt?
lost me completely on the triangle part of the helix and spiral, you didn't talk for about 2 minutes and no idea what you did when you clicked smart dimension at 6:50
He exited smart dimension before selecting lines
Hi, I'm missing the mold tool bar shortcut and I'm using Solidworks 2011, how do I access it?
That was Brilliant! Easy to follow and draw. You have a new subscriber here :)
Thanks man for such a great video. But could u tell me why u choose those dimension for the thread. I mean why 59deg and all the stuff. I know it is for thread but which dimension stand for what? so in real practice if I will do it. Thanks
Nice tutorial!
Great video.
Bravissimo.
Thank you for this great video. I have learned lots.
Good Job!

Me ayudo bastante en mi trabajo, muchas gracias!!!
I helped a lot in my work, thank you very much!!!
do u happen to have any tuts on how to make fighting games, such as dbz. and could u show a tutorial how to make it? Please?
Good job! very helpful. Thanks a lot!
Man awesome shortcuts
Amazing video I learned a lot
Thank you
Can you sketch a gimbal for mobiles?
Sir,How to assembled multiple nut ,washer & spring washer with bolt in a tap hole without selecting each components.
nice to have this tutorial.
great video ty.
how do you find 4.513 at 8min22 ???
beautiful video. Thank you
Can you do the opposite and make the threads on the bolt stick out and the threads on the but cut in ? I'm making a representation of a torch for a project
This was so helpful!! Loved it!
good job, I enjoyed this lesson and your instructions are really easy to follow
This lesson is shit
The great video. Thanks for good job.
Could do with explanation for why he chose certain dimensions such as 1.7321!
Hi,
When I create the notch ( Triangle ) and try to pierce it to the helix. I get an error message that says " No intersection found for pierce point."
Do you know what could be the problem ?
Thank you
That was really good. Thanks!
There is some interference on 18:20 of the video. Is it because you did not properly set the relative location of the threads on the bolt and nut?
Thanks a lot!!! Helps me a ton!
At 1:15 you define the size of the hex across the points. Why? All nuts are sized across the flats. Incredible.
thanks mate. u r amazing. my teacher sucks at college i really need help lol
Good work!
Can you make a 3/4-16 UNF threaded bolt please?
can you put these files somewhere to download?
Hello Zen I tried today but when I use the linear motor the nut moves on the wrong side, and if I use a rotary motor it works.. Help
combine command is not located under mold tools.
thanks, the video tutorials are very interesting,
I really enjoyed watching your video and hearing the dialogue that described each part of the process from beginning to end. I have a question for you, how did you record the video, and do so without hearing mouse clicks and/or keyboard noises in the background?
I have a problem on the 2:52 when I flip side to cut , it doesn't select the out side of it . it select the same circle only in the back :(
That was just awesome! Thank you
plz upload unigraphics NX video tuitorials or suggest page plz......
Thanks for your good tutorial
Fantastic. Thank you!
very thanks for you tutorials, your work is incredible!!!
hi,,i just want to ask you...how you set the size of shaft before you make a thread for exmple M3 screw
in this tutorial you just use 10mm for diameter..is it mean its for screw with 10mm radius??
Hello, you will have to find a hardware spec sheet. This isn't exactly accurate, it was more intended to show how to create a screw.
By now, Solidworks should really have a toolbar just for making Screws / Bolts, Nuts and Gears. It is cool to have instructions like the video here, but for 99% of the time people want to use standards and not waste time designing their own.
+10p6 There is an entire toolbox for a wide range of items.
+Don Putt I know, but not for simple stock items.
And all of the toolbox features et all have been available since circa 2005. On all levels of SolidWorks.
Instead of using this method we can use cosmetic thread???
+Santhosh B Yes, that's what is used in SolidWorks2015
¡EXCELLENT tutorial! Thanks a lot. Best wishes.
having a problem in Pierce relation, at 7:50. cannot resolve it, please help

Thank you, so detail and help a lot!
very useful, thanks a lot.
Great tutorial. Thanks very much
No it's not! It is wrong.
youve done well .

but how to make clearance of .01 mm between bolt and nut
Woow amazing and excelent
Hi, thanks for uploading a great tutorial! It really helps me a lot. But why I cant find toolbar for mold tool and surface in my solidworks? Btw, I'm using solidworks 2012.
Thanks.
what is the configuration of your computer? (hardware)
Thank you SO MUCH!
Nigel Groom Your Welcome!
How do you fix the interference?
which version of Solid Works do you use?
Thanks so much.
