- ℹ️ I finally bit the bullet on getting a drone, a Mavic Air, and took it to Madeira for a few days to stretch its legs. Here's two minutes of the best bits, along with some time lapses from my Lumix GX8.

☁️ The weather wasn't that great for the last couple of days, and it was all very windy, but I was at least able to fly in some amazing spots, and learn an awful lot.
✋ It's incredible how slight the movement actually needs to be once on a timeline to have the desired effect. Moving the drone, for example, up and strafing while tilting the gimbal up (and even rotating at the same time) will take lots more practice!
⬆️ I've uploaded this as a Cineform .mov, and I think it's a touch better quality than an h264 upload.
🔷 I still want to do some proper image quality tests. The light was very challenging for such a small sensor. The slight 'mushiness' on the 0:06 clip comes from me adding in directional blur to ease the choppiness caused by all the speed ramping.
😱 To my horror, the timelapse at 0:48 suffered from colour variance flickering. I tried LRTimelapse, but it was ultimately the Flicker Free plugin by Digital Anarchy that smoothed it out as best it could.

Ian in London Thanks so much for the kind words Ian. It was soooooo windy when I was there, so I was scared to send it too far. If you do go, Pico Do Arieiro, Rabacal, the peninsula and rabeira da janela were some main locations. My friend tells me late summer is a good time to go.
