    my grand parents had one like this or maybe a TK6L, i still have a few of their taps they recorded during the 60's and 70's and still listen to them from time to time on my Revox A77
    good old memories

      I'm sure their tapes sound great on your Revox. It's amazing how long recordings can last on magnetic tape.

      @@SoundsVintage they do sound pretty good for their age, some of the recording contain radio programs and it's amazing how this little Grundig was able to do such recording, nothing amazing but still pretty good

    Excellent presentation! The tonbandkoffer I have always wanted but have recently forgotten about. I knew it would sound fantastic when I saw the specs in the catalogue some years ago. Thank you for the presentation, I will be on the lookout for one.

      It is a substantial machine, built to do a job and do it properly. It is surprising to me that Grinding didn't design it for 5" reels. Maybe the extra weight made it unfeasible. I hope you find a good example for your collection.

    Sounds very nice, wow and flutter appears to be better than most portables I've seen on your channel. Although this machine is less portable ;)

      This machine really does the business. The engineering inside is excellent.

    I wish I could get my TK-6 working. As soon as I took the back off to check for a problem, I noticed a multi-ganged leaf switch with some wires near it but not connected. I could'nt find a schematic anywhere. :(
    It sits on a shelf looking good. (and slowly bending the shelf. LOL)

      This machine has a lovely sound in real life, not sure if my camera portrays this. It took a while for me to repair it. Turns out the mains transformer was faulty. I hope your shelf survives.

    Will you cover the Craig 2106 eventually?

      I have one of those, the 5” version of the Super 212. Nice recorder made by Sanyo.

    How much was 65 gns in real money?

    • @SoundsVintage
      @SoundsVintage  ปีที่แล้ว

      A guinea meant an amount of one pound and one shilling (21 shillings, £1.05 in decimal). The value of £1 in 1962 is approx £27 in 2023.
      So 65 x 27 = £1755 in todays money.
