The fact that Boruto can understand when Naruto talk about his past because he actually witnessed firsthand.
It also makes it more heartbreaking once you realize that just like Kawaki, Naruto had become unhinged and almost killed Boruto when he went back in the past. The saddest fact is that Boruto has experienced what Naruto doesn't even remember and hence he is justifiably sceptical of Kawaki.
It is sad that no one, including majority of the audience, wants to understand what Boruto is going through in this scene. He was almost killed by his own father who doesn't remember the event, and now he has to reside with a similar guy who puts his mother and sister in danger. Despite having seen Naruto's monstrous side, Boruto still respects and sympathises with him, whereas, except Sasuke, no one, including Naruto, is really willing to see the worst-case scenario, especially from Boruto's point of view and experience.
@@hrickthegeek He only thinks that Hinata and Hima are in danger with Kawaki nearby... Naruto could just KCM blitz to their home if he had to, that's if there isn't a shadow clone there already... and we all know 1 shadow clone is plenty to handle anyone 😂

He knows what Kawaki is capable of and here, he isn't just talking about physical safety, he's also talking about the family's not-so-strong emotional bonds. Boruto's point is clearly proven in the follow-up scene where Kawaki breaks Hima's vase, bringing her to tears and then blatantly refusing to apologise until forced to do so by Boruto, that to for namesake.
If it wasn't for time travel arc, this kid could have been same.

I was a kid when Naruto first came out. Now I’m married with my own kids. Watching Boruto is SOOOO wild to me, I’ve never experienced a show that not only did I grow up with, but it grew up with me as well. The jacket hanging in the background, Himiwari’s drawing’s, hell the whole feeling of the scene got me choked up and holding back dad tears.

I actually love how mature this conversation was from both sides. Boruto wasn't just hating kawaki for the sake of it. He saw the guy literally punch a hole into another human being and proceed to blast him in half with no remorse and now that same person is in his home with his family, a person that he has no idea of he's a psychopath or not. Rightfully he's justified in his reasoning. However naruto is also told him that you should never judge a book by it's cover and also I love the fact that despite being his father he didn't try to force or demand boruto to change his outlook he simply gave him some insight on what kawakis situation is and let him come to his own conclusion

Why does everyone forget that Boruto knows what his father went through? Remember, he went back in time with Sasuke.
He almost got killed by him and yet is willing to sympathise with him and not push him away. Any other shinobi would have tried their best to avoid Naruto after getting on his bad, unhinged side.
As for Boruto's outlook, it goes on to show that Boruto's character is now stronger than that of his father as he not only forgave his father but also was justifiably sceptical of Kawaki because he knows what he can do if he goes unhinged like Naruto. However he is willing to help, just not at the cost of his family's safety.
Its ironic that when Naruto talks about the similarity between him and Kawaki, he is hypocritically not taking into account the potential danger Kawaki might posses to his wife and daughter.
I love it when a show manages to bring out the bad and often neglected sides of a fan-favourite character's personality.
Here, we see Naruto's hypocrisy ie. not taking his son's warnings seriously and actually bringing back his own story to unfairly justify his actions which are potentially harmful for his family.

FR if you have seen the movie you'd know that naruto actually uses several clones on a daily bases to assist certain parts of the village. I can just imagine naruto chilling in the office and once he releases the jutsu he immediately feels mentally broken after all that work😂😂
After so long,we finally met naruto s best clone.
Boruto’s a good kid, in all honesty. He instinctively understands the need to trust his friends and work as a team, he’s kind and generous when he needs to be, and he’s willing to learn and change his mind. Sure, his environment was far better, but that’s in no small part due to Naruto’s work.
It’s one of the greatest redeeming features of the show, the fact that Naruto’s generation grew up to be good parents, and succeeded where the generations before them failed.
This scene really makes u think about how old naruto is and how much wiser he has gotten and It makes me wanna cry.

@@crashpal it's funny, in the episode where Naruto fought Neji in the original Naruto (RIP Neji), Neji actually said something like that, i.e. that the Shadow Clone Jutsu was his 'specialty', only for Naruto to inform him that he actually failed the academy entry exam 3 times BECAUSE he couldn't perform the basic clone jutsu (which is supposed to be LESS powerful than the Shadow Clone Jutsu)
and the Shadow Clone Jutsu was meant to be a Chunin or Jonin level Jutsu from what I remember
People say the anime filler ruins boruto, but I feel like this scene is strengthened by the fact that boruto has time travelled and met naruto as a kid. He genuinely knows what naruto has actually been through and as a result, the realization is all the more impactful.
It's actually so chilling when you listen to how boruto describes kawaki and realizing that's how the villagers literally thought of Naruto, which just stings even more when boruto realizes that's exactly what his dad went through.

The people that don't like Boruto weren't complaining about the time travel filler. In fact, I think people liked that more than any other part of the show. The filler they complain about is the whole episodes spent on finding the perfect potato chips

In general though, I’m okay with filler because is that not the goal naruto was trying to achieve? A peaceful village? It always made more sense to me narratively that boruto needed these SOL moments to show the success naruto brought upon as the hero of the previous generation.

Behind that laugh are tears. It still hurts, and always will, but he can't change what's happened and even kinda understands why they'd act that way now. Yes he wanted attention even if it was bad attention, but at the end of the day he was an out of control brat no one wanted around - his behavior _did not_ help. Kurama was only part of the problem people in the village took issue with.
What's amazing about this is Naruto's wisdom. He litteraly said " I was a little brat who couldn't control himself but also had the power to destroy the village, I understand why people were afraid" He has matured to the point where he understood the view point of the villagers back then. The people who put him trough so much pain he understands them just amazing.
Boruto has developed so much as a character it’s insane. I loved how he remembers what he learnt about Naruto’s backstory during the time travel arc and he acknowledges his father’s past here.

Naruto personally asking boruto not to be “one of those people” towards kawaki is one of the saddest and most wholesome things I’ve ever seen, these shows are literal masterpieces
The level of maturity in Naruto's words when he says "Now I understand why they were scared", is incredible. Also props to boruto's great character development.

Even after all this time, he hasn't lost his touch. Naruto once again has shown he has a very good way with words. It actually brings some tears into your eyes.
Someone need to reanimate Minato and Kushina so they can see what a wonderful parent and person their son has become.

Man, whether you like it or not, this series is pretty darn good, Borutos character and kawakis have been getting that good treatment. I love this series, it has really redeemed it self to be a good naruto sequal. And people say that boruto ruins narutos reputation, when in reality, this show really shows appreciation to naruto. I love boruto as a character even more, He's got so much good development, and he's pretty relatable now. Keep it up writers, you are doing the best!

This episode’s dialogues were one of the best.
This conversation was probably my favorite part of the episode. Boruto’s concern for his mom and little sister and also his maturity, Naruto’s relation to Kawaki, the Sasuke Retrieval Arc Squad nostalgia and Naruto’s jacket!
It's been some time I felt this kind of emotion in Boruto. Naruto opened his heart not only to Boruto, but it honestly felt he opened his heart to us viewers as well, like we were there in that room with them. Naruto's line "If possible, I don't want you to be one of those people" really hit me in the feels.
Boruto's character development after the time travel arc is astronomical! Mah boi went from being Arrogant brat to straight one of the best shonen mc! Boruto's Greatness!

@@charcoal200 I grew up on OG Naruto but Boruto is more interesting than Naruto. Naruto for the most part is the run of the mill Shonen character who isn't very bright but have op powers with a heart of gold and determination which pushes him through his inexperience. Boruto is different being a naturally gifted Ninja whose more calm and calculating than Naruto but Also shares some of his traits without having the same background.
One thing i have to say about naruto is that i hated his stubborness, it wasnt very realistic to me unlike boruto, but i guess sasuke has the same opinion as me

Naruto wanting to watch over kawaki and understanding what he is going through is great for how it is painful and lowly for their situation and not easy at all.
I imagine if Kawaki does try to flee Konoha, Sasuke will intercept him and say something like "I don't know who you are or what you've been through... but trust me when I say that you don't want to do that, believe me; I know firsthand!"

I haven't watched Naruto but this scene still hit hard. They've done a good job at making the viewers find out about Naruto's past together with Boruto. This is why you don't skip arcs, like the time travel arc. Everything in this show is important.

Ya know I'm kinda glad they change the chapter for this episode. As much as I would love to see Naruto flex on Kawaki with his Six Paths Sage Mode, a wholesome reflection between Naruto and Boruto is very welcoming.
