One of my favorite vintage Hondas. They seemed to have a lot of power for the year and displacement as well. DOHC, Dual CV Carburetors, and Electric Start in the 60's was pretty high tech.
I was feeling kind of nostalgic for my years in California when I too once owned a Honda CL 450- a Blue one and my first 'bike'! I bought it used for $800 1975. I was a transfer student at SJSU and was getting acclimated to Highway 1 and every Thursday I'd take it over the mountains and along the coast down to Santa Cruz and back- great memory! I'll say one thing- bikes then, like cars still had chrome-everything and a great feel as I'm sure your does!
I bought that exact same bike new in Oct. '69 when I got out of the Navy, thought it was the best looking motorcycle ever made. A half year later I got to ride a Norton Commando, within a month I had a '69 norton Commando S and never looked back. I still think this is just a beautiful machine and I remember the joy I felt when I bought mine and rode it all over the front range near Boulder CO. This is a treat to see, it looks like it just came off the showroom floor, thanks for doing such a detailed video of it. Wow
@BOBBY LEE Hard to believe it was a half a freeking century ago, those were good times. My first ride (actually my best friends) in '61 was a Cushman Eagle, we rode over Trail Ridge Road on it back then at the age of 14. Honda Super Hawks were the rage when I was in high school, had no clue what the future held in the way of motorcycles, but it sure was fun witnessing it all unfold. Thanks for your reply.
I have K1 as well and it was sold/registered in May of 69 but how would one find out if it was manufactured in 68 or 69? Didn't they title/plate the bike based on the year it was sold, not so much the actual year it rolled of the line? IDK, but I have been told mine is a 69 as that is when my uncle purchased it. Beautiful bike!! Mine is blue and get comments all the time when I ride it/park it for coffee, etc. Fun to hear the older guys talk about when they had one back in the day in High school, etc. Good times.
Nice to see those altitude compensating carbs. BTW, have you ever read a Honda service manual from that vintage? They had a hard time converting it to English in those days.
We can't do business on FaceBook, however the bikes we do generally cost between $10K and $30K depending on what it is, and how it's going to be used. We don't restore bikes pre-1968 and are limited to Honda.

I am coveting this bike.
Good Job on the restoration!
Its missing the front and rear guard strips plus the preserve nature always wear a helmet sticker on the tank. The rest of the bike looks great.

I had the first CL40 in the United States. It had gold stripes on the blue tank. Didn’t they all have the stripes?
This is Not a as "Original" restoration, But it is very nice! 3:)
I want this bike
Hi,, the engine crankcase is being sandblast or vaporblast?
I have the same bike. What does a restoration usually run (ballpark) for a bike that is in good/very good condition?
+Mike Rose Mike, did you ever get an appraisal on what it would cost???
SledgeHammer Nope. Never heard back.
