It's sometimes hard to hear this song.... Growing up watching my dad in the kitchen, drunk playing his harmonica and singing this song, he lost the love of his life, my mom... My dad never remarried. He lived 14 years without her until god took him too.... Sorry for not getting it sooner dad, I know the pain u felt cuz now I feel the same now that youre gone... R. I. my father passed away last august in 2019, this was the song that was played at the funeral for this was the very first song they danced to, I come back to listen to it and just think of all the good memories we had, and even though I can't find a true reason for why him, I just have to trust God's plan. We loved each other so much and I would do everything with him, and he told me that I was his favorite. I can"t seem to find purpose now but have to live life the best I can but am still so happy that he was my father for 13 years, even if that was short, He brought me so much joy and was so proud of me, but i wish i could hug him just one more time. I love hotwheels and he would always buy me a couple any time we went out and i put my favorite one into his coffin. I just pray for any one who has or is going through this and just know I love you.

The simple fact that you can acknowledge the complete internal emotional affect this has on people, especially your young self to make that kind of statement definitely proves you know a lot more than you're giving yourself credit for. My 36-year-old advice is to continue keeping an open mind.... don't forget this older, more sentimental, personal side of musical expression, always give new things a chance but never stray from whatever it is inside you compelling goodness and compassion! So many things will influence who you will become but if you stay true to what makes your soul feel good you will love you a lot more!

      Don't limit yourself.
Explore every genre of music, every era, every decade. You'll find shining gems in each and every category.
If you play an instrument, keep at it!! Even ten minutes per day, practice. There is a soul deep feeling about creating one's own music.
Interesting factoid: Evolutionary biologists cannot explain music, insofar as it having conferred any advantage to aiding our species' survival.
It is, simply a gift. I say a gift from God. 🎼❤️🙏🏻

My mother loves the rolling stones. I think about her every time im listening to this song and miss her when ever i do. Im not sure exactly what the stones wrote this song about but i connect it strongly with the decision to get sober as an addict. You always tell yourself youre going to break free of your addiction some day but you keep putting it off until getting clean turns into a distant dream and you hope some day it will happen. The line "I have my freedom but I dont have much time" also makes me think about how the ectasy you feel from drugs only lasts a short time and it always catches up with you. It also makes me cry because it makes me think about my youth and how im wasting my time stuck in this rut. When youre young you feel you have all the freedom to do what you please but life is short and none of us have as much time as we think we have. -Andi

Not sure what you're on but, if I was able to get myself off of heroin and methadone, you can get off of whatever you're on. What fucks us up the most, is the mental shit. That much I do know. But keep this in mind, the longer you stay on them damn drugs, the longer it's going to take for you to get back to actually really feeling and thinking normal. I remember someone telling me that and sure enough, the years I spent on drugs was the same amount of years it took before I actually felt like a normal person. It wasn't a bad thing, cuz I was already feeling normal but I was just proud of myself not just for staying sober but for the fact that I almost forgot I did that shit. Just know the mental thing is a real struggle, so remember that. You're gonna have that anxiety and depression for possibly about a year longer. But just stay strong, think positive and if you believe in God pray to God to give you guidance and strength to beat It. If I could give my life story right now, I should have been dead, no bullshit. So don't EVER, EVER doubt yourself cuz I used to say the exact same thing you did. As a matter of fact, I thought I couldn't live without the bullshit. I couldn't handle my brain sober. Yet watching some TH-cam videos on people getting off this shit and what they describe the emotions and feelings they go through. Cuz that's the thing that always gets us, it's the mental shit that comes along as our body's natural chemistry is adjusting back to normal. So hang in there stay strong because, you got this.💪

The only way to give up an addiction is to have a reality check.
Realize what you are doing to your mind and body internally .
Plan a day soon to make changes coz further down the line you will add 20 or more years onto life..
Ask yourself do you want to inflict this torment on yourself. It's hard before it gets any easier.
      . Get support.
When you've gone through battles you have the heart and strength of a Warrior.

I needed to say this somewhere. I know this song was actually supposed to be about but it also inadvertently lines up with something totally off the wall different and serious as a heart attack with my life. My interpretation of this song helped me cope after my mom’s suicide. I am 20 years old and my whole life my mom had dealt with manic bipolar depression with suicidal tendencies as well as digestive issues so bad that she basically couldn’t hold down any food towards the end. Her bipolar issues made her lash out and be more self destructive and bridge burning than one could possibly imagine. When I was a baby my parents separated and my mom had my brother with some other guy and they had a custody battle and her mental issues caused her to lose. As the years passed she’d make friends, lash out one day, then lose them. We moved 16 times through it all so that made it worse for everyone. It was extremely hard getting by with her constantly yelling at me. It was hard to see the good things when they were all trapped in that cloud of bad. I knew how much she cared about my sister and I and she proved time and time again that she’d move mountains for us, but at that same time lay into us verbally on bad days when we didn’t know any better. It always stayed like that and her physical health kept getting worse. She went through a lot of relationships and finally it worked out perfectly with my stepdad. Around the time I was a junior in high school I was in a toxic relationship and the girl broke up with me at my birthday party. My mom really did everything in her power to help me feel better because I was in a dark place and she knew the feeling. The bad thing about when her manic bipolarity kicked in, she’d always hurl insults that cut to your core. We got into this fight and usually I’d just take it with a grain of salt and not talk back bc deescalation was the only way to deal with it but this fight was very bad. “it was no wonder why your girlfriend left... you’re not really depressed.... You’re the source of my depression”. I knew she didn’t mean any of it but it’s hard to understand how a mental disorder makes you say those things. She was only feeling worse and worse. Luckily I found a new girlfriend in an unlikely place and we have stuck together ever since, but my mom’s disorders were getting worse and worse and that led to the divorce proceedings with my stepdad. My mom and I had a falling out last summer and she literally showed up to my work and made an entire scene. I moved out and stayed at my grandparents for a bit. She eventually realized how heavy handed her actions were. She apologized and begged me to come back. I told her I accepted and would visit but I couldn’t come back because it was a really bad environment. Then she grew really attached to my dog who was still staying with her. I guess she saw me in him. Unfortunately a perfect shitstorm hit and he got cancer really bad and they ended up having to put him down. I didn’t even get to be there because I was out of town, but she was so broken from that. She begged me again to come back and I have to tell you that was the most difficult decision I ever made in my life. I said no but I’d still visit. Every visit after that she wouldn’t really talk to me and she was adamant that I hated her when really after everything we’d been through I loved her and I was only doing what was best. As the divorce went along she eventually found that she was going to lose everything from it. At this point her body couldn’t even digest food like her body was giving up as fast as her spirit. I was in my college class when I got the call from my sister telling me my mom told her goodbye. I raced to the house but it was too late. I won’t go into details but it took so much out of everyone. She didn’t even talk to me in the last 2 weeks and didn’t even say goodbye or that she loved me. I knew she meant it but maybe she couldn’t bring herself to talk to me. I know in my heart how much she loved me. We knew she was going to leave us but there was no stopping it. When I sit here at night and think about all the good with the bad and the fact that I can’t escape the thoughts of the last days and the funeral I turn to this song. The Rolling Stones have no idea how much this song envelopes the whole dynamic I had with her.
I sing this from her perspective: She always made sure I got the things I needed and I had a good Christmas. She was there with me through the hard times, even though she fought with me she didn’t mean it. She depended on me more than I knew at the time. Her mental demons couldn’t drag her away from the fact that she would always be with me.
    “I watched you suffer
    A dull aching pain
    Now you've decided
    To show me the same“
That was my decision to not return home. I still regret it but looking back I still don’t know what I would have done to stop it if I knew, because it was still going to happen.
    “I know I've dreamed you
    A sin and a lie
    I have my freedom
But I don't have much time”
In her efforts to get me back, she tried to smear my name with my grandparents to get them to kick me out so I’d have to return, but they still knew better. It was childish but it was another one of those bipolar decisions out of desperation. She knew she didn’t have much time left with me because she knew she was getting worse, so she wanted what time she could get out of me. I regret not visiting more, but I didn’t know it would happen that soon while there was distance between us.
    “Faith has been broken
    Tears must be cried
    Let's do some living
    After we die”
Faith broken in that she took her own life even though she had formed a deeper connection with god towards the end. It left me feeling empty but it had been a long time coming and there is bittersweetness in that she is no longer suffering. Do some living after we die makes me pray that I see her again in the afterlife and I can finally speak to her when the abundant grace of our maker has restored her with a new body and cleared the demons that tormented her mind. I love her and I miss her and this song puts everything into words better than I ever could.

It's too bad my son could not see through my pain and how much I loved him.
His head was filled with God awful lies about me and I was out numbered and defenseless.
I am 61 and he is 31 the last time he spoke to me was very hurtful and I guess it made it easier for me to let him go. I could not fix what I did not break. That was over 10 years ago.....if he only knew the truth.

Energy is neither created nor destroyed. I believe this applies to human consciousness, aka, our souls. I don't "know" any more than anyone else what happens when our bodies die, but, I have a feeling it's going to feel familiar, and comfortable, and like, oh yeah... I remember being here many times. Have you ever been having an intense dream, but when you wake up, you can't recall what that dream you were in mere seconds ago was about?? I dunno, maybe that's what death feels like.
All that having been said, I'm so sorry for your loss. May her memory be as a blessing. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I couldn't play this or any song around my father especially since my mom passed away because this was 1 of her favorite songs. My father was a very difficult man to get along with. When my mom passed away my father didn't want my help and didn't want me around (I was 50 when she died). I tried to help this stubburn man who i watched get very depressed and mentally deteriorate for almost 10 years. My mom passed in November 2009 and my father locked himself in his bedroom for 1 and a half days and i used a screw driver to open his bedroom door and found him dead from a heart attack in April 2019. My father was a very stubborn man and you could not play music around him and he would also complain to my mom about listening to any kind of music and my mom loved this song but she played it anyway, even though he was a hard man i do miss him but i miss my mom more and i'm gonna be 64 in the beginning of September..R.I.P. to my mom and my father 🙏 😞

This is a beautiful song and I find this to be one of the best of all time, and stuck to me emotionally so long. When I was 15, my friend died of heart troubles that he suffered with his entire life, then catching up to him at after 15 years of age. This was his favorite song, and he loved horses, even though that wasn’t what the song was about. Before he died, he said that he hopes that when I join him we both will ride the wild horses, dying minutes later. It hurts so bad to remember, but I love this song, makes me think of him more like a brother.

Marianne Faithful attempted suicide when Mick left her. When she woke up he told her thought he had list her. And she told him " Wild horses couldn't drag me away".

2021 and this song still melts my soul! To find that ONE, TRUE, LOVE after being hurt and let down so many times. Just to love and be loved before going to that Great Stairway in the Sky! What a Feeling!! ❤️♾😍

I began to cry as I was reading your comment & as your word's touched my soul I began to realize why this song was sent to me through messenger. My Love died on February 17 in my arms & my heart was hurting and for some reason I started looking through my messages & this song had been sent to me on the 19 the of February by a friend of mine that I haven't spoken to in a quite awhile. I asked him why ? He told me it was vision or something like that & he just couldn't explain it but he had too send it. I know without doubt my Joe had a part in that & comment confirmed it. Clarity is such an awesome Feeling or an experience that we've all have had. Even after Death wild horses couldn't drag my Joe away. Thank you

Music sparks those dusty memories laid in the back of your mind.. perhaps you will only think of them a few more times before life ends.. childhood memories long forgotten ignited with a few words n melody.. then you think about where you are now and everything in between .. never imagining back then that this is how it all ends

This song is just insane. Whew
A master class in “less is more”. The lead guitar just chirps in here and there…but it’s just perfect, isn’t it.
