I just bought the SoloStove Bonfire yesterday during the Black Frfiday sales event. Our daughter has one and we have seen her's in use while sitting around outside for a family get together. She has used her's for over a year and likes it; so we bought one. The price is very affordable and there are many accessories. I didn't find out it was manufactured in China until your video (nuts!). Very helpful and informative review, thank you.
Just bought the Solo Stove Bonfire for my wife for Christmas. We just did a large deck and I cannot wait for us to start using it out there. Great review!!
SUPER helpful video. My wife had already bought me a Solo for my birthday, but your video still helped me understand my Solo better, and you included some really cool info! Thanx!
Looking between these two I chose the BREEO, X30. The heat gradient on the BREEO itself is hotter, lower. Closer to your feet. Both may be designed to blow heat out the top, but the BREEO is heavier and holds the heat closer to you better. That is the purpose of a Fire Pit after all. Made in the USA, PA to be specific, just cinches it.
My wife and I are in love with our Yukon Solo Stove. I think what ultimately set our decision on this one was the size options and the fact that they're endless amount of accessories to fit our fire pit. But I do like the fact that BREEO is made in the USA.
Right there with you. The Yukon was the first Solo Stove that we purchased, and it's still the one that we use the most since our patio is 24' deep. It eats wood like it's going out of style, but we've been happy with the performance and are salivating over the new 2.0 with the ash dump feature. Lugging that entire Yukon over to the garden to dump it is my least favorite part, but we still use it weekly.
Got a Breeo for my wife for Christmas after seeing it was made in USA and we love to entertain and cook out so it seems a little more ideal for that. Also seems the grill can be used on any fire because you can just spike it into the ground. I got the larger model though as we will set in in one spot and leave it and want to have a larger fire. Hope it works out well when we go to use it.
@@bigz5262 I’m not really hurting, I’m just happy with my Solo. That silly Breeo thing isn’t sold in my country so how can I compare? Solo for the masses, not just the Yanks.
This comparison video is absolutely fantastic. Well done. I must add however...retired firefighter of 27 years....please.....please...do not use any fire pit on or near combustible materials..ever.
Yes I agree. I don’t know how they say you can use them on a deck. We used a solo stove on a gravel parking area and the wood popped and threw coals and sparks out. If it had been on a wood deck we would have needed water to put out the sparks.
This is a fantastic review! We used our brother's Bonfire Solo stove before we purchased our own Yukon stove. Frankly, I like the tough look of the Breeo better, but don't regret having gone with the less expensive Solo stove. For those who are curious, it is not flimsy and feels well-built. Just one more note, ours is the first version Yukon without the removable base. It is not a small hassle to clean it out. However, the new 2.0 model seems like the ideal solution. I would say the same is not true for our brother's Bonfire Solo stove. It made no difference to me that the bottom was not removable as it was quite easy to turn upside down and shake the ashes out.
Man Peter, I'm feeling your comment right now since I just lugged our Yukon 1.0 out into the garden to dump ash, and it was 3/4 full from our last burn of a bunch of excess cardboard. When that thing is full, it's a beast to carry. I'd so much prefer the 2.0 in that size. All the best!
@@TheBarbecueLab I got the Ranger 2.0 a couple of months ago and realize I don't like the new version for the smaller stoves. I think the best solution for anybody who doesn't want to try to empty out that Yukon 1.0 the old fashioned way is to use a Shop-Vac.
We went with the Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0, which will spend the majority of it's time on our patio near our grill. So, no cooking over the fire for us. It comes with a storage cover, a carrying bag, and a lot of accessories that previous units were separate purchases. I will say the exceptional heat (up draft) of the Solo Stove causes wood to burn fast, so I recommend using oak whenever you can get it. White Birch just burns too fast for me, but it starts a fire really well, so use it to get the fire going if you can.
Love my Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0! Ordered the surround table and cover. Next year is the Pizza Oven accessory. Due to my wall oven being 5K and on backorder for 6 months or more - the Bonfire with all the cooking options made it was simple
Based on the age of this video, they weren’t able to obtain the Breeo heat shield. It fits on an outpost rod which allows you to adjust the height of the shield from the Breeo unit itself. So you can fine tune the heat based on your seating arrangement. I've used the shield for my Y and it is great to change the deflection height based on the height of your seating.. And as of now all the different size Breeo pits have their own heat shield that fit each size pit.
I bought the Breeo last year based on the heavier steel and radiant heat from the body. Your thermal camera seemed to show that, and it really is enough heat to warm your shins as you sit around it.
@@TheBarbecueLab I love the Breeo product line, I'm really surprised they haven't come out with a deflector option yet. It seems like lots of people end up making their own or buying an aftermarket one from Etsy.
I’m curious as well. Why? The Breeo is made in the US, whereas the solo is made in China. It also comes with adjustable legs, but with the solo you have to buy the stand as an accessory. And last, you can use 3 fuel types in the Breeo, only 1 in the solo. Also, if you’re putting a solo on a deck, you need to get the stand for it.
Excellent review! More consumers should make reviews as thorough as yours to make manufacturers make products that consumers want for the value of their hard earned dollars Even though I used my old fashioned retaining wall fire pit for decades the Breeo seems like the most versatile choice
Great review! I own a Breeo for being made only two hours from me. As far as people saying about fire size or heat. I can attest it can make huge fires. it’s a fire pit! Not a Lamborghini haha it’s going to get dirty.

This video also didn’t talk about the heat radius of each. That was my only issue with the solo stove. And based off construction, it would be a bigger issue with the breeo. Solo stove solved that with the heat deflector.
Love my SoloStove Bonfire and Yukon. Have had the Bonfire for about 5 years, left outside uncovered and it is durable! The new model with removable ash pan is nice - which mine had that. However…if I were to decide today I’d go with made in USA vs China period!

Be careful with the Solo Stove on the deck. The first summer I used it with the stand, it was fine. The next summer, it melted my Trex deck. I got a plant stand and put a square patio paver on it which I then put the Solo Stove on. This is working fine and I love that I can move it while using it. I love the Solo Stove. I just wish I knew it could melt the deck before it did so.
I love my Solo Stove. Great quality and so many accessories it’s not even funny. I guarantee, most couldn’t even tell the pit was made in China once you get your hands on one.
I have the solo 1. Definitely like version 2 for clean out. I have to dump my whole unit upside down. If the ashes get wet from rain, it even gets to be more fun.

The thing I've noticed with my Solo stove over the last 7 years is that it doesn't act like a rocket stove. I have seen two different Breeo stoves used for a few hours steadily and both seem to... *burn through* the wood rapidly. __ Everyone stay safe.
I love the options on the Breeyo Y....but the price is over $1900 canadian , for the stove, and firemaster bundle accessories...that's not covering the shipping cost, either. I will have to stick with the Solo Stove Ranger w/Stand and drop the $280 (free shipping) and make a DIY grill for it. Awesome video! We are leaning toward a Breeo. But I really do like the clean up ease of the solo stove. However, I think the better quality and made in the USA will tip the scales toward the Breeo. We currently have just some great cinderblocks as a fire pit surrounded by gravel that was here when we moved into our house. We definitely love it and host a lot of bonfire get together‘s at our house. But a lot of people seem to be sensitive to the smoke. So it would be nice to not have as much smoke.
Yeah, we started with a fire pit made from landscape stones that smoked like crazy, and guests would sit around the fire and get chased by the flames and find reasons to leave shortly thereafter. Once we moved to a smokeless fire pit, we never looked back. We love them!
We have the solo stove and the stove can be used with pellets, it just uses a different plate inside to allow the pellets to sit without going through to the ash pan.
Moving into our first ground level home we bought solo stove to enjoy the fire 🔥 I was to a point of depression simply missing a fire bon (Latvian lady). Kids can safely make their smores as the heat does go out up above, it’s not made for heating you so little kids can approach the solo stove super close. It’s made for enjoying the fire 🔥 and cooking something on it, like kids s’mores or steak 🥩 but it’s unsustainable for daily grilling, so we’re shopping for the gas grill now for the quick daily family meals cooking as when the solo stove rains out (Miami weather) it’s hard to get it on and we’re not covering it. It’s mostly used for the winter time when it’s nice to sit outside. It’s a fashionable atmospheric fire bon NOT a fire pit for heating you, that should be acknowledged. It’s great to pop at the back of the truck for Glamping trips and slow cooking. Our friends use this as their main grill but they’re an older couple with bigger kids and they don’t care to take longer time for eeeeeverything. For younger families this works for safe firebon but you’ll need another grill for daily grilling anyway.
Nice comment Do you think it would be sustainable for once or twice a week for steak grilling for 4 people? I want to buy a charcoal grill and also want a fire pit. But it would be quite cool to have one tool that did both
Great comparison video David! I like the versatility of the Breeo but like the cleaner look of the Solostove. I own the Solostove and absolutely love it. My vote goes for the Solostove because I have 5 grills on my patio which I would prefer to cook on. When it's time for a firepit, I've already done enough cooking and prefer to relax at the firepit. Great video!
Isn’t the stand an accessory that you have to purchase? Being made in America and having adjustable legs is what does it for me. Cooking is just a bonus. Only way I’d lean towards the solo is if I were an elderly person, or a fragile woman due to it being easier to clean.
@@NothingButSilicone True, you do need to purchase the stand. I just prefer the clean look of the Solo. All that matters is that we can both enjoy the benefits of our choices in stoves. Enjoy!
Hello sir, Love your video thank you David. After watching your video, I will get the Breeo made in good old America. One other important factor is adjustable grill rack. B safe out there.
My grill and smoker are for cooking. My firepit is for fires. The Breeo line is twice the cost of Solostove. Solostove has more accessories like the heat deflector which is amazing on the colder nights and their Surround accessory for saftey of kids, dogs, and adults who may have had one two many. I'd also add that on this video, I am much more impressed with the flame of the Solostove than I am the Breeo. I've had my SoloStove Yukon for almost two years. I've added the heat defelctor and surround as my major accessories and in my opinion, there isn't a better way to have a fire.
I don't have the kettle hanger or the kettle, so maybe if I pick that up in the future I could cover it, but left it out because I have no experience with it.
This seems like a real no brainer. I’d never buy something just because it’s a bit easier to clean. The Breeo has the advantage in every single way, unless you’re Chinese.
I own both solo and breeo. I got the solo first and breeo the second time. I like the look of the breeo but happier with the solo. The breeo is not as smokeless as the solo, therefore if anybody is on the fence like I was, just go for the solo… trust me
The best and cheapest is simply the inner tub from an old washing machine. It is steel with a ceramic coating so it will not rust and it has little holes all the way around it to let in air. It works very well and is free.
@@kimelicombustion makes smoke. If it’s hot enough and you aren’t using wet, not well aged wood, there will be less smoke. It’s physics. Fire ==> smoke
YOU FORGOT TO MENTION KEEPING WARM IN THE COLDER MONTHS!! Solar stove kills on this one especially with the HEAT DEFLECTOR!! IT'S A GAME CHANGER! There are videos using HEAT GUN.. The difference is amazing. You got some heat sitting about 5 ft away to your face with these stoves.. down by your legs it would stay pretty cold. SOON AS YOU PUT THE HEAT THAT FLECTOR ON AMAZING.. it through that heat towards your legs and your feet up to 250 so you can even back up further!! While keeping the face and the body a little bit warmer are about the same without the deflector. Pretty awesome and you didn't mention that
Great detailed and thorough review 5⭐️...nice job...I'm not even in the market right now for either one, however, your review was so interesting that I watched till the end😝 maybe cuz I'm a Chef and your review shows a high level of culinary competence. Go American Made!🇺🇲
I have the Solo Bonfire 2.0 and while it is a great fire pit, I would call it "less smoke" and not smokeless. When you start the fire there is smoke just like any fire. As the fire progresses and gets to the stage where it burning hot and efficiently that is where the secondary burn occurs and the there is even much less smoke. As the fire burns down and is not burning as hot then the smoke starts to increase again. So over the life of the burn there may be a period where the fire is maintained and there is what they call smokeless, but overall there is still smoke.
BREEO looks more interesting to me BUT....I know from years of using a camping twig (wood gas) stove that the taller the burn chamber, the better the burn and the less smoke generated.
I feel like the secret to this design isn’t the design or holes but the fact that it’s in something. The only part of the breeze that touches the fire is the very tips of the flame where normal fires or fire pits are more open so they blow the smoke around on everyone where this one the smoke just goes straight up.
I have the original Bonfire and see no reason to replace it but I wish it had the built in height adjustment and was rated to use pellets....ways around it but otherwise its been working great for many fires
Not sure about that. Doesnt burn as hot, fire was noticeably smaller with the same amount of wood. Stains much easier, that was there before he even cooked food on it. Looked impossible to clean too. Yes its more practical with some things like height and handle but to me the Solo Stove looks like the better product. Rather buy the extra accessories with it.
Breeo seems to be more thought out and fuctional. Solo is great too but more form over function. Both seem like great options for consumers, so I guess we all win with that one :)

You absolutely CAN use pellets in a Solo Stove. Not sure where you got your info.
We own a Breo and it’s awesome. Made in the USA for the win.
Good to hear! We've been impressed with the Y-Series during our testing, but we love hearing other people's experiences. Thanks for commenting Steve.
We have the solo stove and the stove can be used with pellets, it just uses a different plate inside to allow the pellets to sit without going through to the ash pan.
Yep. Back when we shot this, that accessory hadn’t been released yet, but we have one now.
Nice comment
Do you think it would be sustainable for once or twice a week for steak grilling for 4 people?
Enjoy!
Breeo makes a standard pit version not designed for cooking. It has a smaller lip and costs slightly less.
Excellent review thank you
This was a fantastic review, and really helped me out!! Much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Very comprehensive video. Thank you.
You did a great comparison job on these awesome pits. I will decide which one soon but a few more video watching of your point of view first. 🥩🍔🍹
Glad it was helpful!
Hello sir,
Love your video thank you David.
After watching your video, I will get the Breeo made in good old America. One other important factor is adjustable grill rack.
B safe out there.
Thanks John, you certainly can’t go wrong with the Breeo. I absolutely love the Outpost Grill. Thanks for watching!
The best smokeless fire pit is clearly the one that I already own.
Looking for new system I like the brio unity sales going on
Thanks
I want a breeO, great thorough video
Thanks Ari, all the best!
Great review however you didn’t go into some of the other Breeo accessories like the kettle hanger which I use a lot for soups and stews.
Solid review 👍
Love my Breeo! (different model from your review)
Thanks for the review! Nice job
Thanks for the comment ElectricSponge, all the best!
Neutral....non biased....and very well done.
Thanks for watching!
Great review. Thank you.
I own both solo and breeo. I got the solo first and breeo the second time. I like the look of the breeo but happier with the solo. The breeo is not as smokeless as the solo, therefore if anybody is on the fence like I was, just go for the solo… trust me
My choice is the Solo Stove Bonfire. It works great and is the perfect one for my needs and situation, and use. Thank you for your thoughts...
Breeo was our pick. Portable BBQ with control.
Otra diferencia entre las dos es que Breeo no hace envios a Europa, soy de España y no puedo comprar Breeo, aunque lo he intentado
Solo Stove by a mile. Returned the Breeo. The cleaning alone wins for me.
The cleaning is a game changer for sure.
The best and cheapest is simply the inner tub from an old washing machine. It is steel with a ceramic coating so it will not rust and it has little holes all the way around it to let in air. It works very well and is free.
but is it smokeless?
@@kimelicombustion makes smoke. If it’s hot enough and you aren’t using wet, not well aged wood, there will be less smoke. It’s physics. Fire ==> smoke
Four $2 pavers from home Depot can replace the $50 to $100 stand and work the same if not better.
Is there a fire pit that is made from 316 stainless to better handle salt air?
Pretty awesome and you didn't mention that
I have the Breeo X30. I love it.
I have bought three Breeo units for myself, son and son in law just lift a breeo and a solo no comparison quality vs cut cost breeo every time
Great detailed and thorough review 5⭐️...nice job...I'm not even in the market right now for either one, however, your review was so interesting that I watched till the end😝 maybe cuz I'm a Chef and your review shows a high level of culinary competence.
Thanks for the review! Solo Stove 100% Maybe in the 1950s the U.S. had the best manufacturing but China has surpassed them a long time ago
Right, great logic. Let's support Communist China products over made in the USA. Clown🤡
Only if quality control is monitored by foreign owners. Otherwise, material compromises are too common.
I do not agree with that statement.
Agree fully plus the lifetime warranty with solo is nice
@@Silversamuri876 thanks for your input Xi Jinping 👍 👏 👌
Hell yeah Fishers Indiana represent.
Thanks for watching J G!
Not true especially with the breeo
You sold me at the brats and corn on the cob! 😃
Which one would you choose
Breeo for the win! Love that it takes charcoal and so many cooking options from sear plate to grill gate, etc.
This is great thank you so much
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching
I have the original Bonfire and see no reason to replace it but I wish it had the built in height adjustment and was rated to use pellets....ways around it but otherwise its been working great for many fires
I think you need to buy the Solo griddle and put it on top the Breeo grate. 💁🏻♀️
Sounds like a fun test...
What brand is that grill brush you're using on the cast iron pan? Great review, thanks!
Thanks Thomas, the grill brush brand is BBQ Dragon, and here's a link to the brush. amzn.to/3R4XsxX
Breeo made in America, Lancaster PA. Sold. Gladly pay the premium for a better product not made in China.
I guess if you want to pay twice the price, Go for it. Most people that would use an item like this does not have money to waste.
@@ront8496 thanks Xi Jinping!
It’s too bad that Billy Bob doesn’t know how to weld. Not all Americans can make quality products.
Steel is probably from china🤣
Breeo seems to be more thought out and fuctional. Solo is great too but more form over function. Both seem like great options for consumers, so I guess we all win with that one :)
What are you using as a torch to light them? Looks really cool!
That’s the Grill Gun, and if you check the description, there’s a link and a discount code down there. It’s my favorite way to light a fire.
@@TheBarbecueLab ah man that was so cool i had to tell my camper friends about it!~ looked like a colemans propane on there
edit: says propane in their link
I looked at both and chose the Yukon 2.0 based on cost, not going to cook, and looks.
