one of the most sensible and accurate videos I've seen. I have done considerable work over the years with leather and this video shows the true artistic use of carving and dying plus construction by true craftsmen. Maybe I should have started by working on bikes first. Great job and great video.
This is the exact video that got me in to leatherwork. I still watch it every now and then and I actually know exactly what Ivan is talking about now :)
you are so gifted with talent. i just started learning how to tool. hope one day i could be half as good as you. i don't ride or know any one who does but i'm so inspired to learn more. maybe one day i can make one. thank you so much for information. would be grateful for any info on tools and stamping. you are awesome!
Been doing leather for 6 months just started buying tools love it don't know why but you put the design in the leather (doing simple bracelets) I want a kit and seat pan for an 08 street bob great job your a master!
brilliant video, straight forward without the bullxxxt, clear instructions, loads of ideas, guidance, and reasoning, i can say making a seat like these takes a LOT of thought because i have just "today" put a fully custom made (curved seat plate, slot bracket, seat lock posts, from scratch) without patterns or dimensions, with a 4mm thick 11once veg-tan leather and 2 layers of an old shrunk tight wool jumper, tooled, this is my second one that i am still not happy with and a LOT of time has gone into both, My time, thought and mistakes would have been halved if i had found your video first, my first was a centrepiece like your 2nd one, and the new one I've got full seat size top and bottom with about 10mm lip i used my sewing machine on the pointed half put the plate and jumper/cushion in that and was going to copper rivet the back curve until i found i didn't get any washers with the rivets so i used my machine ( 2, leather size 200/25 GROZ-BEC needles and a job for tomorrow setting the sink/timing on my 211G166 Singer) i was a few inches along my 2nd row of stitches so i can take it off and add that row later, " then used dark brown EDGEcote instead of russet dye" Plonka, that's what happens at 10in the morning when you've been up all night doing it" another lesson learnt, it was looking good with a tooled Suzuki Custom "S" logo in the centre of a tooled button diamond quilt effect, that should be golden brown the same as my large heavy duty 43cm x16cm 11once tool roll that looks great, just needs buckles/closers when i find the right ones or customer would like, your video would have saved me half of the work, so might not have mixed finishes also, SO A BIG THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT MAKING IT SO WELL, HOPEFULLY my mistakes will be smaller next time, cheers, ,,, do you no how i can reduce the dark edgecote?
Damn, you guys are awesome! Really laid-back and cool about showing others how to build a skill-set! I really do appreciate the time that you've taken to show us this procedure. I'm just learning how to tool leather, specifically to do chopper work, and this was great! Again, thank you! Maybe I'll see you guys around the circuit one day. Beautiful job, Man!
man that is some excellent work. The video also worked really well you guys get pretty good angles and do a good job explaining things as you go, i feel like with what was shown in this video i could make a good attempt at my own seat.
Excelent job as with all the seats Ive seen you make and make it look so easy I built my saddle bags tank bag and tool bag and ruined an expensive Oak tanned leather side trying three times to make a seat then dave it up and bought a mustang seat thats really nice but its not what I wanted I still do sheiths holsters and other thing but havent built uyp the nerve to try again!
Beautiful work. When using a tooled leather seat, is there any way around getting the seat all scratched up from sitting on it? Or at least stopping large indentations?
skyview13 sorry, just realized that there are comments on here. If you’re still interested in more info get a hold of me and I’ll tell you what I can about what I do and why
to começando a fazer bolsa de couro bordado, mas só to encontrando ferramentas na intrernet. ai,.fico sem saber pra serve cada peça. vc pode me pegar um couro e me mostrar o que cada ferramenta faz? e o nome de cada? por favor me da uma força. agradeço desde já.
can i share a tip with you and followers, greaseproof paper is great tracing paper and quite waterproof, cake decorating styluses have different size balls on the ends and very cheap for a set of 4 double end pens,

Beautiful work. When using a tooled leather seat, is there any way around getting the seat all scratched up from sitting on it? Or at least stopping large indentations?
James Vella once it’s dried and finished it should hold up pretty good on it’s own. Are you having a problem with that?
Do you glue the top seat to the foam also. What keeps the leather to contour to the foam? Great work your very creative.
