When I was active duty military in 2001 after 9/11, I took my kids to Disneyworld for free, courtesy of Disney. In 2024, I would not take my grandkids to Disneyworld - even if they paid me. Disney is a husk of its former glory.

I got a reservation for Guardians of the Galaxy for 11:30am and still wasn’t able to ride it. Everytime I checked the app, our time was pushed for later. We gave up at 5pm
After years of Disney doing their best to suck all the fun out of a park visit for the average family, an economy in the doldrums, and nonstop flipping the cultural bird to a large majority of their potential customer base, I can't imagine why,
Too expensive, too expensive, too expensive! The park tickets, the cheap merchandise, the unappetizing food, character meet and greets, hotel and resort rooms, and lightning lane are all way, way too expensive! Disney offers nothing to their loyal fans except an empty wallet when they leave the parks. I would be willing to put up with The Disney App, if everything didn't cost an arm and a leg. In my opinion, Universal, even before Epic Universe, was eating away at Disney World because they respect their customers and are not willing to put them in the poorhouse to visit their amusement park. I have stated this before, Disney's plan is to charge an extra fee to ride their most popular rides (Tron, Big Thunder, Tina's) at all times and that will be the end of Disney. They have already become a second best option as compared to Universal and Epic Universe will be the final nail in the coffin for them.
They are doing their damnedest to try to get one time customers because there will be no repeat customers after getting fleeced like this
It has to get worse for it to get better for Disney.

The last time I heard there was an "attendance problem" at WDW, it was so busy at MK my family and I HAD TO LEAVE. We did nothing.....there was a 30 min wait FOR RESTROOMS. Buyer beware.....

I haven't visited Disney in many years, and I don't plan to return. I find their practices greedy and misleading, which is quite off-putting. Instead, my family is planning a trip to Dollywood.

Just got back from WDW. Not sure what others are seeing but crowds were pretty huge. Wait times were perhaps somewhat shorter but not appreciably so, especially during the week of Thanksgiving.
When the ineptitude is massive between Shareholders, Board of Directors and the CEO of Disney (Bob Iger), those graphics are what you get! What a sad end... to a symbol of childhood!

A friend went with his family recently and did not buy any fast pass or lightning lane. Everything was walk on except the attraction formerly known as Splash Mountain. They literally had no one riding but wouldn't allow those without lightning lane passes. No one was riding.

I work with guests and LL almost daily. The question I have about LLPP is what is the cutoff to where it sells out. I think Disney just pushed the sell out story to create demand. LLPP is a way for Disney to faze out most of their VIP Guide Cast Members.

Torn on this…. I’ve heard for 30 years that the parks are too crowded…. Well they finally get the prices high enough to get the park attendance at a nice place to be and walk around… now we say declining attendance is bad??? In the end, less customers , more spending by those who are there and enjoying no lines… seems to be win for Disney no matter what, they don’t need to worry about this
It doesn’t help that attendance is down when they cut entertainment, attractions, and staffing to make it still feel crowded
If you keep raising prices on your theme parks and Disney+/Hulu, no wonder people are leaving in droves. 🤷♂️🤦♂️

Disney World used to be the Gold standard of parks (thank you Walt), the Nordstrom’s of parks. Expensive, but unbeaten experience and service levels. Now Disney World is Walmart but Saks Fifth Avenue prices.

Disney is the only amusement type of park I can actually go on rides at in my wheelchair. I will not be going to epic universe or any Universal park because they do not have wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAV). I even wait longer than the standby lines for the WAV ride vehicle to come around. The themes at Universal parks do not even interest me. So no… Princess Peaches castle does not get me to want to visit that park. I’ll take Cinderellas castle any day!

There are several WAV vehicles at Universal but must be a manual wheelchair.
@@JH-hd3oy ok so they do have a few rides with a WAV but yes no powerchairs allowed and they even want you to switch to one of their own manual wheelchairs which I can’t do. Even the carousel & the Dr. Seuss ride they won’t let your own manual wheelchair on. So really they aren’t accessible like Disney is.

They're gonna tear up MK for a MUDPIT race track where the Riverboat sails. And in Hollywood Studios and demolish Muppetvision show for the Monsters land attraction. And Epcot is a complete mess of walls up. Rides not working. Test Track down til sometime in 2026. Resorts stripped of their elegant theming according to the structure, and Imagineers original theming. Animal Kingdom is destroying Dinosaur ride, and theming to teach kids about what used to roam earth. All 4 parks under construction. Ugh. . . . Lightning lane will never, ever be bought by me. I'll stand in line with the middle class grunts who've saved years to come.
I think Disney management when Epoc opens will argue that there will be an initial hit because everyone will want to check out the shiny new thing, but that eventually the traffic will normalize again. The question is, of the Disney loss of traffic is permanent, how long can they het away with that excuse.

I think it is the prices, and the predatory pricing strategy Disney has landed on. You can go there, buy the very expensive park tickets, but then you ALSO have to buy Genie+ and LL to TRY to get on the popular rides - and not even then are you guaranteed a spot. To keep on top of Genie updates, someone has to spend the day focused on their phone. You can't get restaurant reservations at any of the nicer restaurants - a complete pot shot - the nicer restaurants are fully booked before your 2 month window even opens up. We've tried twice since the Covid years - experience was miserable. Couldn't get on rides, all the old quiet spots are gone now - replaced by fast food and shops. Just not worth it.
Probably doesnt help that they dont have a proper tie in to Moana there and wont have anything like that for Lilo and Stitch, at least at Paramount Park you can ride Shadow the Hedgehogs Nithmarecoaster. right after going on Aangs hang-glider...oh wait.
People are boycotting Disney for years after they went woke. I live in Fl and when we go to that area we don’t go to Disney. My daughter took her son and said it was an horrible experience and left after 6 hours.

you never seam to get it. They do not want the huddled masses of johnny lunch pail and his family of six, they want wanda caviar and her one child or maybe wanda and her partner. If your not rich they don't want you. They are going to keep making it more expensive and difficult for poor and middle class families until they stop coming. Lower attendance is the goal, not a problem. The disney you loved is gone, accept it.
Universal loves coming in second place to Disney, Moana 2 just got $54.5 million on Black Friday which means it earned $140 million in three days. Wicked in the same timeframe for its opening weekend only managed to get $114 million. In addition, yesterday was the fourth biggest day in theater history, for a grand whopping $108 million, most of that weight being carried by Moana 2, Wicked, and Spartacus the Sequel.
I just moved to Orlando with passes to everything, and I'm loving the normal crowd levels. I hope they stay this way...
I had an Econ class that included an exercise where we calculated the maximum revenue for a football game. The answer never came to filling the stadium. Charging more for smaller numbers earned more than charging less and filling the stadium.
It didn’t factor in concession sells or the effect on the game and reputation of the program.
Not saying that’s what Disney is doing but shouldn’t assume the higher price point with smaller crowds is a net loss
As far as my experience:
I had to watch videos to have a clue on how to navigate the system.
MGM was a ghost town walking to Galaxy’s Edge. Was a bit of a disappointment though my son loved it.
The crowd was older and rougher.
Waded through racks of gay pride merch to get to a Mickey Mouse shirt I wanted to buy.
We had more fun at Universal. My kids love Harry Potter. Saw more families and even a religious group of kids. Easier to navigate. More affordable

Splitting a trip is too expensive with how the tickets are priced. It has been true for a long time. Best to go on alternative years or trips.

Therr is nothing to do. Over the years, that took out all the little shows, took all the little things that made it special. The rides that are left are looking old and run down.
I never played any of the games on nintendo, gameboy, PS5, etc that epic universe has made into a park. So that park, dark world, and the other park I wouldnt go to EXCEPT Harry Potters World. So that ticket price park would be a 1 time thing to do. IF i could get the $$$$ to go again, I'll be at WDW during Epic Worlds opening.
It’s such a shame I’m so mad about them taking rivers of America out our entire family has not renewed our passes for the upcoming year which makes us all so sad but not gonna support the current direction the company is choosing to take. No fun in the fun park anymore

I believe it wait times are inflated. Just there mid November and 30 minute average seems fair, but there were attractions like Flight of Passage that had 100 minute wait times but was maybe an hour tops?

I used to know someone in accounting. She said the word was the execs would say they wanted to get the per guest spending to $250/day. This was back in 2018. They probably want even more now. How is a family of 4 supposed to spend $1,200 (assuming $300/day) for a 3 day trip totaling $3,600 before room and flight? Disney is nuts.
2 weeks in the Disney's Wilderness Lodge with plane seat upgrade now costs the same as a world cruise on P&O and 4 day grill cruise from southampton would get me 21 day cunard cruise for the 20,372.80 United States Dollar the disney site quoted .

Why does Disney still have a reservation system?
Think only annual pass holders need a reservation before 2:00 pm. Not sure why that is but regular ticket holders do not need a park reservation since January this year.

Yes the parks keep disney in the black, able to make their garbage woke films..what Disney's trying to do is have as few people as possible in the parks but still make the same money as if they were much busier..fewer people paying much more fees means less employees to pay, less trouble at the parks..and they have to take souvenirs, parking, food and lodging into account..we were season ticket holders for Both parks, LA and Orlando..I haven't been in 10 years and I'll NEVER attend ANYTHING DISNEY AGAIN!!! if I want a park I'll go to Universal, they not quite as bad, yet, as disney..
