Thank you so much for all of your efforts! I am a non-denominational Christian and I have been doing heavy research lately, not because I doubt my faith however, to expose the truth to others and spread the Gospel. Recently as well have been debunking Islam and my gf who was muslim as of yesterday pledged her loyalty to Christ. She came home. Which is beautiful. Not only did she see the evidence that I presented to her plus other finding from other sources, historical evidence, scientic evidence and her own spiritual encounter. Jesus is King! Jesus is our savior! Thank you again!

I really enjoyed this conversation. I'm not scholar, but I'd like to share some wisdom I've been blessed with. Searching for "evidence " of the authenticity of the Gospels will only reveal so much. I believe whole heartedly that God will not allow proof without belief. God's objective in creating us is to establish true love between Him, the Creator, and His creation. If God is proven, we cannot choose to believe, or more importantly, to love Him. It is comforting as a believer to see the archeological discovery of the places and times depicted in the scriptures. But do not hang your believe upon the evidence unveiled, or the lack there of. If in your heart you TRULY believe, He will show Himself to you. I look forward to the day of the Lord where we will all laugh on the side of glory. Until then, I pray God's peace and love to you all! Blessings!

I agree, but I don’t think that’s what the goal is here. The goal is to “have an answer” or to “be ready always to give an answer to every man who asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” Part of that “answer” is the historical arguments and such.

If that be right you are clearly entirely innocent of any kind or form of intellectual ability or accomplishment or you would recognise that" archaeological evidence " for" (sic) jesus is semantic gibberish and factual nonsense for there cannot be archaeological evidence "for"(sic) anyone; archaeological evidence for" (sic) is arrant nonsense, and semantically null - conveys nothing.
Archaeological evidence for jesus, my arse! those creatures are clearly halfwits, but that is to be expected with kinderlander.
Few but half- witted kinderlander would venture to suppose that the could possibly be"archaeological evidence for(or even of-which makes more sense, *Anyone*. There can_only be evidence for a particular assertion, proposition or thesis- not a particular person. Put the case or suppose that there once existed Fred, or Jon Doe. How(in terms of semantics or meaning) could there *Ever* be archaeological evidence of evidence either for or of either?
To anyone that is not an halfwit or imbecile , to ask that question is to answer it, particularly if whoever understands that hearsay can *Never_Ever* constitute, or amount to evidence it being forensically wightless and insignificant.
Must the supposed or soi disant christians(of course there*are_none* scrape the bottom of the barrel and go:"Ah the gospels mention a town or village and the time of day or any geographical feature * t-h-e-r-e-f-o-r-e jesus- the tacit assumption or premise being that otherwise there is not a single shred of evince that the fellow ever existed, which is certainly perfectly true. There is or are places called Jerusalem or Nazareth *therefore jesus is more than a bit desperate or strained, it positively_screams * the tacit premise that there is no reason to suppose there ever was such a creature; desperate cherry-picking of that sort positively bellows that that the existence of jesus is in doubt, but it also reveals a certain sort intellectual deficit leading to the utterly absurd supposition that the truth or validity of the proposition that the sum of two and two is four is entirely contingent on there having been a certain X that once declared the sum of two and two to be four.
If it is indeed that case that the best way to go from one to ten is via the intervening numbers it is is *screamigly_obvious* that the truth of that assertion is made out regardless of whether or not, whoever made that assertion ever existed (and regardless of the characteristics of whoever asserted that the best way to go from one to ten is via 2, 3.4,5,56,7, 8 and nine or if he or she ever existed, and only a complete imbecile halfwit or possibly kinderlander might suppose otherwise. If what X said or says is true why the fcuk does it matter or signify that there was or may have been an X. If a particular map is of assistance in my getting from A to B, why the fcuk might I give a shit whether or not the map -maker was a jolly decent chap ore even existed? However if the map- maker tells me that a one-eyed three-legged donkey-Criplon will win the Epsom Derby, I will not wager on Criplon wining that race simply and *Only because said map-maker turned out reliable maps..*Of_course there neither is nor could be any evidence that any being dead for the best part of three thousand years hsvingever existed because there cannot be any such evidence that*Anyone dead for nearly three thousand years ever existed, be they Fred Tom, Dick Harry Mary or Enid ; at that remove no witness could possibly be alive. Anything purporting to be or advanced as, evidence that cannot be tested can *never* amount to evidence because evidence that cannot be tested is worthless or weightless and the worthless or weightless can*Never* amount to, or constitute evince.

I've known for a long time that Augustus ordered a census in 8 BC. Also, that Herod the Great was King of Judea at the time of Jesus's birth. This works well with the Bible that Joseph was told to take Mary and Jesus away until it was safe to return, which came in 4 BC when Herod died. As for the Slaughter of the Innocents, I heard that a study was done, and given the size of Bethlehem in that time, there were probably only about 5-8 babies that would have met the criteria for Herod's order.

good work: some additions: no reason to believe that Jesus would be buried in Nazareth--he was thrown out of Nazareth for preaching that he was God in the synagogue (the 'I Am' speech)--and thus, he moved on to Capernaum and lived among the fishermen there (nothing says that he went back to Nazareth to live); Jesus and his family clearly had strong family ties to Jerusalem--Elizabeth's home is in Ein Karem (suburb of Jerusalem), Jesus best friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus were from Bethany/Bethlehem (5 minutes outside of Jerusalem); there is some evidence that the Mother Mary was orphaned at an early age and then went to live in a monastery in Jerusalem (as an orphan would), until she was of an age to marry (clearly, the family was not estranged to Jerusalem); the Garden Tomb is far outside the walls of the ancient city (too far away)--but it does show us what the area of the Sepulchre would have looked like (even to having rock outcroppings which looks like a skull)--which is hard to imagine today, with a large cathedral built over it and since it was destroyed over and over again throughout history (plus, the Sepulchre is inside of Jerusalem walls today, which it was not at the time of Jesus life--all makes it very difficult to recognize as the true tomb, which history shows it to be)(like, no garden today--anywhere to be seen); plus, the Jews are above all Historians/scribes--they wrote everything--they preserved history on scrolls, papyrus, even rocks--and they were almost always largely truthful and accurate (as history and archeology is bearing out)(they did what they could to protect this history: see the Dead Sea Scrolls)--they still do the same thing today even--it is what they are born to do--and they do it well...; also, you have at least three Christian Churches that have an ongoing custody of many of these historical sites (ie the Orthodox church has a cathedral built over the prison of Jesus before crucifixion) (the Catholics/Franciscans and Armenians also have many sites--ie the Franciscans have built a cathedral over Peter's home site in Capernaum)--it is not just one part of the church but three different ones whom have been responsible for keeping up with sites and preserving them (so, they are not all just backing each other up--there have been discussions and differences over the centuries)...you have to look at all of the parts together in order to get the complete picture...dts/usa

This event associated with the census is also mentioned by Luke in his book Acts of the Apostles:
“After him came Judas the Galilean, in the days of the census, and he succeeded in making the people follow him.
    Acts 5:37
This same census is the one mentioned in the Gospel of Luke, "when Quirinus was governor of Syria", and also makes a reference to an edict of Augustus to carry out population censuses in the Empire.
"This first census was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria."
    Luke 2:2
"It happened in those days, that an edict was promulgated by Augustus Caesar, that everyone be registered"
    Luke 2:1

So, kind of wondering why it wasn't mentioned that all "world wide" censuses under Augustus, as you can easily look up in Res Gestae Divi Augusti were conducted of Roman citizens, not the general populous? Or that Josephus mentions that due to the census and resulting taxation in 6 AD, numerous uprisings happened due to the Jewish outrage against this particular form of Roman subjugation, which would seem odd if the same thing had happened to the population just a few years earlier with seemingly no incident? Or that we know Qurinius was actually posted in Galatia, in central Asia Minor, far from Israel during the time that the first census mentioned occurred (8 B.C.)? Any of these make fairly short work of the idea that the census Luke 2 is referring to is actually the same thing as the accounting of Roman citizens from 8 B.C.

    • @photoionized
      @photoionized 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@tiermacgirl For your questions. 1) no such history exists, the only records show that either censuses were local in nature or involved counting the Roman citizenry across the empire, 2) sure, there were plenty of revolts -- Josephus talks about a Messianic revolt in 4 B.C. under Publius Quinctilius Varus who was governor of Syria at the time (he and Saturninus before him bridge the 8 B.C. date mentioned by the way), resulting in 2000 crucified Jews. This however, is the only revolt stemming from taxation Josephus mentions. 3) The Roman province of Galatia is two provinces (either Cilicia or Cappadocia is between it and Syria) and a couple hundred miles from Syria.

Could someone please help me understand the dates (year). Historical events like the destruction of the Temple or Claudius becoming emperor would have dates according to the Roman calendar in operation at that time. The birth of Jesus is said to have happened 6 yrs before what the present calendar is based on. So accordingly an historical event like the destruction of the temple (which has a recorded date according to the old calendar) is said to be 70 AD which would be 37 yrs after the death of Jesus. However if the dates of Jesus's lifespan are off by 6 yrs then the temple would have been destroyed 43 yrs after his death. And similarly Claudius would have become emperor (41 AD) 8 + 6 yrs after the death of Jesus.

20It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.
21But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

This is so dismaying. If these ad hoc and tenuous "claims" were being made for any other religion the xian would scoff and walk away, but since it's their inviolable faith, these claims must be true. The fact is that archaeology does not and cannot attest to the veracity of any of the stories or events in the gospels. Put another way, just because we have archaeological and manuscript evidence for some of the places and people referenced in the gospels-proof we would have even without the gospel references-it does not in any way prove historicity for Jesus, his family, his disciples, any of the supporting cast, his crucifixion or supposed resurrection. Believing so is tantamount to believing a guy named Jay Gatsby and a gal named Daisy Buchanan had a real love affair in 1920's Long Island and then was really murdered by a mechanic named George simply because the novel happens to reference real people and places Titus makes dubious statements that are demonstrably false as well as misleading. As is typical with apologists, once you put in the information they leave out, their arguments crumble. This is EXACTLY why Xianity is falling apart, why people are de-constructing and leaving the faith: The mendacity and the audacity is exceeding the veracity, and people are on to it.

Questioning the census has always seemed ridiculous to me. Just logically: Luke we know was authored by an educated man particularly concerned with anchoring the story of Jesus in history. Therefore, even if he was wrong about Jesus, even if he was making him up, there would be no reason to fabricate a census story. It adds little and could only hurt the story if inaccurate in any detail.
Finally, the odds that he, someone educated, local, and totally committed to being believed, would get a detail wrong because it APPEARS to conflict with Josephus, who was not local, not contemporary, and certainly not as concerned with the goings on in this far Roman province, are laughably remote.
Folks questioning this one simply don't want it to be true.
And this doesn't even hinge on the truth of this Gospel as a whole, just some reason.

Even if someone could prove that a certain Jesus did exist, “ which would be impossible to ascertain 100% “ it would still not prove that he is a God or the Son of a God, there is a heck of a chasm between proving the existence of Jesus and a God.

But when you objectively look at all of the evidence that clearly states that Jesus indeed did rise from the dead, that fact coupled with the prophecies that He fulfilled you definitely have a person that is the Messiah. Go listen to Gary Habermas’s bulletproof evidence of Christ’s resurrection and, if you can humble yourself, your eyes will be opened to the truth of all.

    • @joeycan6801
      @joeycan6801 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jimmock1155 With all due respect, the only so called “ evidence “ you have for a “ resurrection “ is the Bible, which is no evidence at all, it’s all based on hearsay, and would be thrown out of court in 5 seconds, one cannot use the Bible to prove the Bible. Extraordinaire Claims Require Extraordinaire Evidence, and unfortunately theists failed to provide extraordinaire evidence for their claims. If I write in a book where I say that I had a flying horse in my stable, does it mean that it’s true just because I wrote about it ? No ! But if I can bring you to see the horse physically then you would believe me, that’s extraordinaire evidence for my extraordinaire claim. Other claims for example are the stories of creation, Adam and Eve, the flood etc, etc……

The ignorance of some religious people is amazing. No one disputes that someone named Jesus was a real person and, a religion was created around him. What is in disputed by realty is that he was supposedly raised from the dead.

Some people dont want to believe and nothing will convince them. But God has provided enough evidence in Nature , the Bible, history, archeology and thru the Holy Spirit that they will have no excuse on the day of judgement.

Really good questions were asked in this interview. I think it was a debris clearing consideration of some of the archaeological discoveries associated with Jesus! Thank you gentlemen. The stones still cry out as another archaeologist once pointed out. Some choose to remain "stone deaf" while others have their hearts of stone brought to vibrant life. Answers usually take digging and yes, faith can be excavated! The geography fits (having been to Israel I can attest to this), the cultural situ fits, the Gospel stories fit and the archaeology fits. There are yet other discoveries that come to mind in addition to the ones mentioned and I look forward to digging deeper into what appears will be an "X"ellent read! Hmmmm... An "X" does indeed mark the spot! :) ... Blessings!

The documentary, before the wrath, was basted on archaeological evidence from Galilee . Weddings there were different than any other places in Judea and Israel. The groom and bride , both drank from a cup of wine . She slept in her wedding gown and her ladies stay awake at night, ready for the father of the groom to go to his son , telling him to go get his bride.. the shofar was blown to wake the village and they then went to the outside gates of the town. Anyone left outside when the doors weee shut didn’t enter. The rapture of the church will be the same way . Only the father ( Abba) knows when he will send yeshua.. almost all prophecy are fulfilled. Ezekiel 38&39, Isaiah 17, psalms 83 are coming as well as revelation 13 … 2 Timothy 3:1-5 are so prevalent today as well as Isaiah 5:20 . It’s no coincidence that so much archaeological evidence is being uncovered about scripture and yeshua.. maranatha!! I’m ready to leave this fallen world and ride back with Jesus for armogedon, after the 7 yrs great tribulation period

I saw that movie too, how the wedding of the Galilee was different from others. That's why Yeshua explained it like that to his disciples so they would understand his message to them. That he will drink of the cup when his father God tells him to go and get his bride the church. The disciples understood what he met by that explanation. 🥰

    Misleading title
    Zero evidence for Jesus provided
What this shows is that the author(s) of the gospels had some knowledge of the general environment of the region. Just like Conan Doyle had knowledge of the London where Sherlock Holmes was supposed to live. The fact that Sherlock's address (221B baker street) is an actual address with a house does nothing to prove that Sherlock actually existed
And the PHD actually shoots himself in the foot with the statement that "christians lived in the area continuously and so knew where everything was" .... So they should have known where Jesus house was , how he looked like, when (what year) he was born, where his tomb is (which contrary to the claim in this video has not been established) and many other details ... And yet none of that is documented, strange is it not ?
