Bro this is one of the GOAT modern roguelikes that stays true to oldschool roguelikes like netheck, retaining item identification, bless/cursed/uncursed testing, viscous traps, clever item interactions, and varied enemy types and status effects that greatly alter your tactical approach. And...it has multiplayer through steam. Beautiful game
Not only online multiplayer but local as well with a 4 players splitscreen! That's so freaking good for inviting over your friends or play with your brother :>
Nice, this is one of my favorite indie titles. I think you’ll like it a lot. The game is pretty clearly balanced for a full party of 4 so playing it solo can be tricky. But turning minotaur off in the settings can help even the scales. Or, if you’re a little more advanced, you can pretty consistently kill the minotaur even on floor 2/3 which gets you a free flawless gem.
@@jackingwads7513Minotaur only spawns via RNG or when you go to a certain secret level, you can get lucky and barely get any minotaurs at all, plus there is a chance that a ZAP Brigade will spawn on the floor entrance, these are powerful human soldiers capable of killing the Minotaur if you help them, you can also recruit them if you're a human or polymorphed into one. Usually after a Mino floor you get a floor full of enemies to catch up on levels, and secret levels have a decent amount of enemies to level up with
The charm didn't actually wear off. The skelly you charmed had a sword and the two skellys that killed you had axes. You could see your charmed skelly attempting to avenge your death for a split second before you revived 😅 Edit: typo
You should for sure look into the mechanics of the game a touch and get some friends together to play with you. I think you will REALLY enjoy this game once you know what's happening. I look forward to your next video on Barony!
I had been wanting to get this for so long. I also finally picked it up during the Winter Sale and just started playing today. Very fitting I decided to take a break and check out some vids and sure enough, you had the same idea. I really like how they seemingly took a traditional roguelike with the mechanics, but they turned it into an FPS.
Famous last words "It's Santa!" 🤣 Am under the impression that after being killed by the skeleton, your enchantment on the skeleton ended. The orc also doesn't look green any longer after you were killed.
I'm so glad you tried this game! This is one of my favourite roguelikes, easily sinked 400 hours into it so far. Definitely notice some problems as you get in on the hours but hey what game does that not happen? I hope you enjoyed it enough to play it again in the future again, with friends or not. It's quite long though so... maybe a good stream game?
Please return to this with friends some time (after tutorials… they help, they really do). I’m not good at the game so watching someone competent play would be great 🙏
Clocked 2k hours in this game and love to help out newer players. Let me know if you'd be interested in doing a run with me :) Thumbs up for Retromation to see.
The game is not as difficult as it is fairly luck based. In fact, i found it very simple. You need to walk with a torch or just pray that the moment you start running, you don't touch any of the many instakill traps. You also must hope that a mini-boss doesn't block your path early on and that you get decent gear for your character + hope the minotaur does not stop you from grinding too often. Once you get past the difficulty curve of the first floors, it's just a matter of paying attention and it becomes fairly trivial. The additional campaign is more of an optional victory lap, you really need a great build to stand a chance. Luckily the game has settings to disable the harsher mechanics.
I'm probably in the minority here but this game seems frustrating to no end to me.. it seems to lack the most basic kind of quality of life featues to be of any kind of fun .. 😢
I feel like that with a lot of souls-like games myself tbh. This isn't one, but I mean some ppl enjoy that, while I look at someone repeatedly banging their head against a wall and go "that doesn't seem like fun".
I mean, the game allows you to desactivate some of the "unfair" part of the game if you want an more chill game. Once you learn how the game works its honestly really fun and challenging. But I can understand for an more casual public this game can just be certainly stressing and not fun at all.

clutched algernon as his very first encounter, what a hero
Definitely a great Roguelike to return to, even with friends!

first rule of any mistery dungeon game if your facing any group of horde of enemies, funnel them in corridors or doors

Wow this looks way different from when I played
Don't care + didn't ask
@@Loquacious_JacksonAsshat
Cool thing happened at the start actually.
Sometimes instead of a mob a special one appears which in this case the white rat named algernon.
This game looks great! I can't wait to see more runs of it! I hope it becomes a daily or at least weekly series

Heck yeah, a Barony series would be fantastic! I love all of the references to Nethack in this game.
This game is a blast, def want to see more of it. Fun and scary solo, madness with a group in the best kind of way.
love how last time i played this i open the door of the starting room of the dungeon and i die to a rat in 2 hits

Dude!!!! So excited to see you try Barony!
Wow you had a dungeon boss straight from the beginning thr ratt boss. You did well surviving that 🎉
I got this one near launch but haven't played it a ton. Great to see you play it.
I’ve been waiting for you to finally play this. I hope you play more 😄
Famous last words "It's Santa!" 🤣

Would love to see a series of this!
I would love to see a series on this. Maybe even rope in a friend or two for it.

Imagine fighting Algernon AS SOON as you walk into the dungeon 😂 I was laughing so hard
And then funny bones 😂 this game is so cruel
The fact that he killed the rat boss on his first play thru oppp
awesome! ive suggested this a few years ago. a very solid game! id reccomend with friends too, its quite fun and chaotic

Fun looking game.

this would make a great series. you should play more.
Please return to this with friends some time (after tutorials… they help, they really do). I’m not good at the game so watching someone competent play would be great 🙏
I'd watch a little series on this :)
Loved the end hahah. It seems that if you are not human everyone hates you hah. Happy new year.
Wow you kept getting mini boss spawns (Algernon and Funny Bones) for your first runs haha. That’s brutal
Anybody else notice how hard the music is going on the piano. Lol
This video was very very entertaining
why didn't you check out the rest of the tutorial area?
Happy new year Reto. Do you think this might a new series to start off with the new year?

It's Santa!
I really want this game :)
Ah, yes, the boulder trap paranoia game!
Very fun game, but always listen to your surroundings
I love tis game ❤❤❤

If you chose wizard we would have had sans.
i love this game but man i always get my butt kicked i think the farthest i ever got was like floor 5 or 6 🤣
Did you know other games like barony?
Delver is similar.
I'm probably in the minority here but this game seems frustrating to no end to me.. it seems to lack the most basic kind of quality of life featues to be of any kind of fun .. 😢
Roguelikes are designed to be unfair and reward player knowledge.
