Thank you for this reaction, it's certainly not his best and an unusual introduction to the quirky genius of Hua Chenyu, his later performances are far more polished than this one from early in his career, I'd have suggested you start with something from Singer 2018 like "Child" "Qi Tian" "I don't care" or "I am what I am" But if there is one thing about Hua Chenyu he is not boring and you never know what you will get musically!

This is one of my least favorite from his performances.... not sure who recommended this as a first watch. Anyway I think he is purposely making the sound dissonant for the songs purpose at the start. 95% of his other stuff is lightyears ahead of this in my opinion.

It's not just a song to Hua, it's an experience. He pulls from his personal early childhood trauma(s) for many, if not all his songs. Vocally, this song might seem awkward, but it's supposed to. Hua will sacrfice vocal perfection to stay true to himself and the lyrics of any song he sings.

Your comment is welcome as a viewpoint different to people who "get" Hua Hua. Lots of us are from the West, and fed up of "same old same old" on repeat. Hua Hua is unconventional, and we never know what we shall get from him. THAT is exciting for many of us. The fact that many of us have been exposed to Traditional Chinese music (and love it) is down to Hua Hua's habit of mixing genres within his Compositions or Music Arrangements. He sings Rock, Rap, Reggae, Pop, SynthPop, Electronic, Ballads, Broadway, Traditional Chinese and has done Beatbox and Symphony too. THAT is exceptionally alluring. To find (and I'm going to use this word)...a musical GENIUS... not in the West, which we grew up with. But in China... should be something to be proud of. Equally I understand Chinese people grew up with different musical tastes, and Hua Hua grew up listening to Radiohead, Muse and Linkin Park... so more "Western" in his approach to music than most Chinese singers. I also loved Hua Hua and Uncle Feng's mutually respectful relationship, regardless of age gap. Stay true to YOUR taste. We respect you, as you were respectful in your views. 🤗
Hua is not your conventional singer/performer. He is an emotional performer so at times he can be off key and tends to "exaggerate" words. However he really can sing beautifully and emotionally. I really appreciate him as a unique composer and performer. If you follow his 2018 Singer series, you will get a good appreciation for his talents. If you want to see emotional with better vocal, you should watch Fake Monk, Dad I'm home, Us. You will need screen filter to keep from possibly getting blocked. Hope you will react to more of him.
This song is a Cantonese song and he can’t really speak very well on this language. Please react more on his songs. You will notice that he really can put the emotion to the songs.
I have been reduced to tears by some of his emotional performances. I think his Singer 2018 "I am what I am" is a beautifully quiet performance, with a punch. Same as "I really want to love this World". But I'm a Rock Chick from 1960s. I love his rocker songs. And that Sunrise Concert was such a superb concept carried through.. to perfection.
Hua is known for being out of tune when singing live. Having said that, his shows are known for being grand with his showmanship and great production values. I haven’t been to any of his concerts, but I can imagine his audience enjoying the experience there.
The red is to reflect the name of his fans.. Martians. (Red Planet). Lots of red in his wardrobe to. This is one of my favourite 20 Top Hua Hua Performances. And actually vocally not one of his best. 周深聲音比較像聲樂家 華晨宇聲音高音比較緊 但兩人歌路真的截然不同 我覺得浮誇給周深他肯定唱不出原唱那種撕裂低沉那種感覺 周深也不適合唱搖滾類型的歌 畢竟聲音比較屬於美聲 每個人都有適合自己的歌路 沒有誰比較好的問題
