My wife raised her daughter in Montgomery Village along with their grandma in the early nineties. They've all done amazing in life and had absolutely no regrets. Why? Tennessee is actually a nice group of folks who CAN look past things and see the human inside. At least that's the way I like to see it. I'm proud of where I live in good old friendly Knoxvegas 🙂
This right here!!!! I am a south Knox girl for life and we aren't bad people! Just because you live in a certain place or area doesn't make you a bad person.
I lived next to Montgomery Village until recently. I got broke into twice, the 2nd time they took everything of value to my kids and myself. It's went way downhill since the 90's I'm assuming.
Not everyone can afford a $200,000 home. I respect people for not where they live or drive but their goodness. Thankfully they have a home and that’s what’s important.,
The left turn off Jourolman Avenue @ 1:01 - my mom's side came straight from that "hood". I love being around there. People are always outside to hang and talk with. Not like where i live now, everybody has the door shut, staying inside. There's actually a sense of community in the places this video shows.
@@hoodsnhollers maybe you could pull up the map app of your choice and turn screen recording on while you’re driving, then just sync up the starts and have the screen recording playing in the corner?
The overcast sky really added to the mood of this. You got my old hood there it was rough back in the day aint no better now probably. Sweet camera work bro I feel like im riding a carpet down those roads so smooth
Every town and city in this nation has "hoods" Knoxville TN has them too..It used to be even worse..Much grassroots effort continues to improve the blighted areas..we are ALL equal in God's eyes..what else even matters?
Please add more Knoxville hoods videos. I was born and raised there but have been gone for decades. Omgosh, and the pink dogwoods in bloom is a bonus. Love seeing these. Great filming. Aloha from Maui, Hawaii.
Thanks! I’ll definitely be posting more places I’ve done in Knoxville. I’ll also post new material that people ask to see. As I was replying to someone else I felt over 17 minutes was pretty long as it is and most folks tend to like shorter videos.
@@hoodsnhollers I actually liked the long version. I like to guess where you are to check my memory. Sometimes I even slow the speed down so I can read the street signs to recognize. Thanks for the fun.
I too would love to see more Knoxville videos!!! I was Raised there but I’ve been gone for a loooooong time!!!! Now living in West Texas. I would never return to East Tennessee but I do enjoy these videos.
Crazy... I'm from the other side of Knoxville (the west, wealthier), and I don't recognize any of these places. Probably because I actively avoid heading further east than Papermill.
It's a hard knox life for us! I see you rode through beaumont, western heights, walter p, and more. These are considered suburbs!! Lol!! Knoxvile is a great place to live, but we have a parts of town like anywhere else!!! Alot has changed over the years!!!
I lived across from Rule as a little kid. We got a bullet hole in our car once (early 90's). After that we always ducked if we were outside the house in the car when another car drove by. I think it's a lot better these days.
Crazy my uncle has a mansion in Knoxville, rich neighborhood, fancy homes, crime up in the five years there off Clinton Highway. He carries two guns on him 24/7. And afraid to use them.
Knoxville have alots history there, alots old building still there . You don't sees alots trash and bottles laying around the streets in hood. Wantyou do LAFOLLETTE TENNESSEE , alots history there also.
ahhh yes my home. at 16:49 i lived right up there street there on Chickamauga ave for many years when i was a kid. me and the neighbors kid would play all over that place and there used to be a basketball court behind a church near there. me and my dad would go there and he would run pickup games while i watched. they took down the goals tho supposedly too many fights broke out there. but i never seen any it was always friendly sometimes got a little heated over "fouls" but nothing crazy. my grandmother still owns the house, i'd really like to buy it off her one day. many good memories in that spot. good video man keep up the good work.
My neighborhood I live on Vermont right around the corner from there I bought the house 21 years ago my husband's renovating it as we speak nice neighborhood though I said it's the hood they had nothing ever bothered us.
I think right there just kinda proves what I been telling people. Using the word ''hood'' is simply just another way of saying neighborhood. There's good ones and bad ones just like anything else. I've met amazingly nice people that were very positive about life in even the worse of conditions.
I went to the zoo recently from just a few cities away. I was appalled at the state of Knoxville.... To the point of wishing I had brought a weapon. Lucky, I did. 😉👍 East TN isn't where you want to commit crimes.
Did that. There will be a part 2 including all the other ones I’ve done. At over 17 minutes I felt this was long enough and most folks like short videos.

I was flying to texas in the early 90’s and ran into icing and the worst ice and snow storm in years. Was forced to land in Knoxville. Got stuck there for days…. It was awful back then. We had no car so we had to walk everywhere. Scary place. Never wanted to return.
I m born and raised here i wanna say its really not that bad then i think about last year and some young guys I lost over the past 5yrs so i guess its kinda of bad
Would be alot better if you tapn with neighborhood and talked about areas your showing.its gets wild around here you missing out on alot of good stories
My old high school. Rule High Golden Bears class of 1989. I still live in Lonsdale and there is a lot of good people that live there. You almost got my mom's house on Tennessee ave but barely missed it.
Look at all that run down junky area ! All that and they keep wanting to build more ? Those places are all over and then they get run down and dilapidated .But wonder why? You never know when one of these projects are going to come up .. Have you ever seen that many in one area? Talk about crime? Did you see the houses across the street? How would you like to have a home and then have to look at this all the time. That's too many in one space. All those people can't be from Knoxville . Look at all the homeless and people living in the streets.. Kinda makes you wonder if they would rather be there than living in a place that looks like a prison . Yeah Tennessee can do better than this if they just would .. IF they're gonna have affordable housing , they need to be kept up and keep up .Who ever did this video , you showed it well ! KNOXVILLE , Tennessee didn't used to look like this ..What happened ??

I have a hunch Tennessee hoods are a little different then some of my local CA hoods lol

As presented here, these neighborhoods look pretty clean and nice enough. Compared to bad parts of major cities like Philly, I'd live here all day.
