marty dav Yes, there can be a few people who play his style of tennis but they didn’t win 20 GS. His creativity wasn’t enough to win so many titles on tour, he had to be consistent at what he does and that has brought him the repute.
Federer said that 2009 was the first time that age and longevity of his career started to pop into his mind and the question of how long he'd play for. Imagine going back to 2009 and showing anyone this clip from 2019 a whopping 10 years later. Back then nobody played for this long, and it would be absurd to suggest somebody age 37/38 winning a masters title, making the final of a grand slam, and being number 3 in the world. Rafa and Novak are also redefining what anyone can accomplish in later years, but I get goosebumps thinking about how the most beloved tennis player ever continues to produce magic and remain near the top.
Worth bearing in mind that Ken Rosewall got to the Wimbledon and U.S. Open finals in 1974 at the age of 39; he lost both to a young, rampant Jimmy Connors.I remember watching the Wimbledon final.
Wonderful year it was for Roger. Way better than 18 since ao saved him from an awful season. His game is still unbelievable at 38, winning 3 500 and a masters 1000, reaching rg sf for a clay comeback and still destroying nole at finals ( sick he didn’t confirmed against stef) . It could have been even crazier if he converted that fucking mp in the Wimbledon final and against thiem at iw. Thanks Roger and let’s hope for 21.
2018 wasn't too bad honestly. Had 3 MPs on his serve against Delpo, and made it to another M1000s final and SF where he lost to Dojo on _his_ comeback. I definitely think the 40-15 in IW against Delpo F up his momentum that year... But, given all that has happened to Delpo, I'm not mad that he at least got his maiden M1000, despite how he got it.
And then he reverted back to the awful tactics that cost him already the first and got passed left and right. Instead of using the momentum he rushed every single point and got broken right from the start

As a Rafa fan I've gotta say It was a great season for Federer, he's had some exceptionnal matches, like the Wimbledon semi vs Rafa, the Nitto ATP finals group stage match against Novak, and even the Wimbledon final but I just think he's not as consistent as he used to be due to age. Personally I think he should have skipped the clay season like he did in the past 2 years, he would have been more fresh physically especially at the US Open where conditions are tough. I still expect great matches between the big 3 in 2020 especially If Rafa and Roger can stay healthy
I commend Roger for doing as well as he did in the clay court season. He hadn't played a clay match in 2 yrs and yet still made it deep to several tournament's, i.e. the french open. He didn't do too bad
