    I STAND AMAZED IN THE PRESENCE LYRICS
    I stand amazed in the presence
    Of Jesus the Nazarene,
    And wonder how he could love me,
    A sinner, condemned, unclean.
    Refrain
    How marvelous! How wonderful!
    And my song shall ever be;
    How marvelous! How wonderful!
    Is my Savior's love for me!
    For me it was in the garden
    He prayed, "Not my will, but thine;"
    He had no tears for his own griefs,
    But sweat drops of blood for mine.
    He took my sins and my sorrows,
    He made them his very own;
    He bore the burden to Calvary,
    And suffered and died alone.
    When with the ransomed in glory
    His face I at last shall see,
    'Twill be my joy through the ages
    To sing of his love for me.

    This is a beautiful song and would love to do this during corporate worship some time. However, I had a question about the line: "He bore the burden to Calvary and suffered and died alone." I'm not super well-versed on theology but I wonder if that's an accurate statement. From a cursory understanding, he did not die alone. The Father did not abandon Him. Two thieves were up there with Him. He was aware of John and His mother witnessing His death and even spoke to John. Roman soldiers were there to carry out the crucifixion. The crowd was there mocking Him. What are your thoughts about this?

      I believe it is just an issue of older phrasing styles. I read it as this: "He ALONE bore the burden to Calvary and suffered and died" As in, Christ alone bore our sins on the cross. Of course we can't be 100% sure this is how the author intended it, but it seems likely.

    The line that states he had ño worried for his own griefs is so untrue read the scripture He knew what they were going to do to Him
    He was so scared He was sweating drops of blood He was in emotional agony before it all went down
    That line needs to be changed
    He went to Father God in prayer pleading to take this cup from Him
    But not my will but yours
    He was asking can there be another way

      The lines you are referencing read: "He had no tears for His own griefs, But sweat-drops of blood for mine." The song is not saying that Jesus was not concerned about the torture of the cross (as it references the blood sweat). The song is stating the Jesus was not mourning his own sin (as he did not have any) but was mourning what would happening to him because of our sin. And yet he knowingly continued on to the cross
