The Civil War has just started in 1861, and Union General Irvin McDowell, after receiving orders to drive back the Confederate Army led by PGT Beauregard, has set off from Washington D.C. to complete his task. By the banks of the Bull Run River, the First Battle of Bull Run, the bloodiest battle in U.S. history at that time, and the first major battle of the American Civil War is about to commence...
Virginian who grew up in Manassas here. I’ve walked every inch of that battlefield and know the area and history well. That was one of the best, most concise videos on First Manassas I’ve seen. Well done!
I've been in full history classes that were less detailed and more boring than this. Bravo!
This is exceptionally well done! Clear and useful visuals, just the right amount of detail, and flawless narration. I can't wait to see the other videos from this account.
Great job on this one, keep it up!
love how we get see the exact placement of regiments throughout the battle .Great work!
Very well done. Hope to see more of this from you.
Wow. Nice video keep it up. Can't wait for more battle videos like this.
Thanks, there are many more to come
Thank you so much for making this video, I've been trying to study the Civil war and the books do a very bad job at describing the battle, this vide has to be the best explanation of the battle I've seen so far.
Once again thank you and hope you make more such videos in the future.
It’s funny that the Confederate army was called the “Army of the Potomac” and the Union army was called the “Army of Northeastern Virginia”
Truly, fantastic work! Extremely happy to see someone my age creating quality historical content! I already have a historical maps channel collaborating with me on my upcoming documentary, but if you would like to participate- please let me know!
Great video
One more subscriber :D
At the beginning, I had a thought that the author might be too young by the voice. However, the video was so good that I kept watching. The terrain and a large map which were perfectly modeled are very big points for me :)
Thanks!
Good clear summary! Excellent! God's Love, Mountain River Valleys!
Nice. love it. Clean graphics. don't change a thing.
Well Done!!!!
My kids are asking you to make a video on the war of 1812 and the French and Indian war
Great stuff!
Thanks!
I love to see new channels like this pop-up; I enjoy the step by step history and battle formation. I hope you keep it up and I subscribed
Thanks!
I actually found this video on accident great job on a video keep it up
You did a great job with this I need to stop being sexist
Your map is incorrect as it shows W. Virginia as part of the Union in 1861. It was still Virginia until 1863.
i think you mixed up the names. McDowell's army was the army of the Potomac.
Actually no, not yet at this time. Funnily enough, at the very start it was the Union who had an Army of Virginia and the Confederacy that had an Army of the Potomac.
At Manassas Jackson commanded a brigade, not a division. It were the units of Early and Elzey who made the final push
Gettysburg
Both sides were poorly trained.
Great job !
