    Spilo, I’ve been watching you since June 2021 and I’ve never come across anyone who is this good at teaching complicated OW concepts in an understandable manner. It’s really something that makes you stand out far FAR above the rest. An additional reason why “repeating” the concepts is so common is also because those are fundamental to OW and most people tend to look past or undervalue them.
    Keep it up man, you’re doing great

    FINALLY someone who explains how to play Brig properly. Brig is such a complex and resource-focused hero and she always gets boiled down to "bodyguard the support".

    • @organicdog5648
      @organicdog5648 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      His brig guide helped me a lot. I find it helpful to remind myself to play defensively until someone get aggressive. When one of my teammates try to feed, walk with them, pocket them, and stay alive. If one person feeds they are trolling but if the team feeds its a strats. I think about "who is feeding" all the time and walk with them, but if nobody is feeding, I play defensive.
      Theres also more to it like surviving, occasionally packing critical tanks and supports, holding angles on highground even when noones there, backing out when need be, letting an un-save-able teammates die etc.
      But in general I find it easy to just stay with the team until one of ur dps/support walks away and trys to go for an off-angle to get a kill. I act as a bodyguard for anybody whos on the flank. It really enables my team and forces the enemy team to use cooldowns and change attention away from tank so the tank stays alive and can walk.

    Awkward's "Damage Damage Damage" on support mindset is what helped me climb out of silver up to Plat. I know Plat is a joke, but I don't play that much so it feels like an accomplishment to me.

    • @Siks7Ate9
      @Siks7Ate9 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Plat is allot higher than the average rank in ow2. Apparently the average rank in ow2 is something in between silver and gold I believe.
      Besides getting out of silver as a support is a accomplishment on itself and you got better at the game. It doesn't matter what rank you are, if you play to improve and you improve you already won the game. Now you play to beat your own highscore :)

    It's so important to not be entrapped in the mindset of being a "heal bot." It doesn't mean healing is not your focus, but it's when to heal and when to do damage. Support players that know when to switch to damage can push back their opponents, finish off a kill, or do ticks of damage so your teammates can make the final blow. This is something I have learned playing other support heroes besides Bap, Moira, Lucio, Brig, and Zen. With these heroes, damage is already ingrained in their kit. But I was being a heal bot with Kiriko, Ana, Lifeweaver, and Mercy. Specifically Kiriko, I could be looking for more opportunities to do damage to help my team. Pushing back an aggressive DPS opponent is key.

I’ve known to apply pressure and heal teammates in between and always put yourself into good positions blah blah blah, but whenever I get someone low on the brink of death I get frustrated when they fall back out of sight. I tunnel them and push completely neglecting my teammates then they die which then causes me to die.

    Idk if this is too basic to be useful in such an in depth video but the fundamental priorities of support are:
    1. Keep yourself alive >
    2. Keep your other support alive
    After that comes everything said in this... lecture😂, I like to keep that in mind if my mind is racing mid game.

    • @Siks7Ate9
      @Siks7Ate9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with 1 not with 2 lol. If I know it will cost me too many shots to get my other support to safety I try to get them to get value by healing them so maybe they can get to safety themselves if a cooldown comes available.
      If my mercy flies into the entire enemy team on accident I'll heal her enough to check if she is close enough to valk or has it. If not I'll heal her until the none hitscans stop shooting at her and she is certainly dead.
      Like yes I should heal my support buddies but I can't make them immortal is what I'm saying for a extended period (suzu). So at a certain point they guaranteed dead and I stop trying.

    The thing is, miora and Brigitte are both opportunistic. You shouldn't initiate the fight and poke who you can between heals. When a dps is exposed, hop on any exposed dps and push them back and help execute low health targets.
    Breed chaos (by keeping team up), become chaos when everyone is distracted.

Now I see that the Pharah escaping is actually a bit of a win for me, since she won't do anything to my team for a while, so I've successfully pressured them to leave the fight.

      Don't even bother, with the newest de support he will be even more shit than now. You blade a target? They get pulled away during it they have a invulnerable shield that allows them up to 30 meters of invulnerable distance away from said blade. You blade, well what if I just throw a petal elevator underneath the target as you pull the blade or put 1 at where you are ending up with your dash? Your entire blade will get screwed over. That or your own lifeweaver just pulls you next to her as you are blading to troll you. Ontop of that you can have a petal sitting there forever untill they use it to get away from it and immediately throw a different one because the cooldown was already 0.

    I disagree on take that Moira is Kiriko but worse. She has few things going on for her that enable her to be more self-sufficient than Kiriko.
    1) She self heals when damaging people, which helps a lot in duels. 24hps is almost a Zen orb pocket, which we know how nice it feels on Genji or Tracer.
    2) You can use orb to increase dps OR to self-heal yourself to a very strong level. Kiriko can disengage just as easily as Moira, but she can't keep up much with damage when gets shot few times. With Moira you can position yourself inside rooms like Junkrat and abuse healing orb to be near unkillable
    3) Easier mechanics means that while she lacks burst damage of headshots she is infinitely more consistent. Try to duel Genji as Kiriko and Moira and tell me that Kiriko is superior at dueling him. She's just not. Headshots are inconsistent, especially on projectiles. You can two tap people that are in melee range to you easily because at this point it's like hitscan but with big hitbox, but past few meters it starts to become really hard to do.
    4) Easy aim = you can fully focus on dodging stuff. Abuse crouch spam and strafing and be annoying as possible
    5) Good effective range. 15 meters allows you to play pretty safe and hit people reliably. At this range Kiriko would struggle to hit stuff, especially headshots which are the only threating thing in her kit. You kill people with rightclick if they don't receive heal. You don't kill people with 5 bodyshots on Kiriko lol. You will die 3 times before it happens
    6) Fade not being tied to allies means you can play deep in the enemy backline and escape not only to your team but to near healthpacks and extend the uptime on flanks
    7) Purple orb can force snipers or other stationary targets out of comfortable spot and discourage flankers. Kiriko doesn't have anything in her kit to do that other than trying to land headshots across the map
    Overall Moira is just better duelist than Kiriko. I agree that you need to leverage her survability and mobility and focus on distracting enemies and dueling people, but to say that she is just worse Kiriko feels wrong. Her kit is way better at fighting people 1v1 than Kiriko (outside of point blank range). Try to fight Moira as Kiriko on deathmatch and tell me how it went. Or try to fight Genji as Kiriko then do it on Moira. With Tracer I feel like Moira still has better chances, but Kiriko can one shot her with melee + hs, so i guess there is something good for her going on. Kiriko has better mobility and team oriented cooldowns, but her damage is so much less consistent. And as a GM player myself, I can aim. It's just not reliable enough.
    I unironically like Moira to be played as a third dps, similar to flankers like Tracer. If you have dive tank you can go full deep with them and throw orb + suck the life out of their target. It's much easier to confirm kills when Ball + Moira are dpsing than to do it alone. And thanks to Moira absolutely self-sufficient Kit, you can easily be around positions your Ball wants to slam.

      @iSuckAtGamesGG ปีที่แล้ว

      idk about u but i've won more fights against genji than i have on moira, granted i rarely play moira but i still think kiriko is better against genji. i shoot him in the head, he deflects, then he runs or i kill him. in fact i've won more fights as kiriko than i have on moira because when i play moira if i dont have the dmg orb nobody dies. kiriko feels like she actually gets kills unlike moira

    Great video thank you! Question: 95% of the time I have the least deaths in the server, but other players still have similar stats as me even though they've died more -- how much more aggressive should I be? I feel like I die too much when I try to maximize my APM because of average mechanics. 5+ years of play and that's still my problem. I can only play a few hours a few days a week, so mechanics have never been amazing but I have good game sense. Maybe I need tips for how to improve mechanics with not a lot of time to play? I'm gold, plat, and diamond across the three roles if that matters

      Edit: my best advice is probably at the bottom cous I thought of it late and on phone so it's a pain to move my bad:P
      My advice is to try to see what you can get away with, it all depends on what the opponents run for heroes, if they have 2 snipers it's generally not worth it to peek them unless you can create a entirely different angle and deny them sightlines onto you. For example if you can rotate towards the door on junkertown A as attacker and keep healing you're entire team while not having to peek the snipers at all it may be worth it as it allows you to shoot people in the back when they get on cart.
      Like yes it's a unorthodox position but how will they kill you as a sniper with a wrecking ball as tank? How will ball kill you when he has to deny cart progress and their supports play on the highground? They can't deal with you from that position.
      However that also depends on if they have a brawl tank that will absolutely destroy you when he is close by. It also depends on the rank you play in. Generally I try to be fairly aggressive until it gets punished.
      Ofcourse you have to keep in mind that certain fights at certain points on the map are very important to win (like at the end of kings row second when you have a ult advantage) you don't want to be dying and losing the fight while investing allot of important ults because of the time it takes to walk to that point of the map so try to be a bit more conservative/safe during those fights.
      It also depends upon your ability to duel as a support, if you are confident you can win the duel against a genji and he can't 1shot you because he lacks the mechanics you could play in dash range and make him feed into you. That will give your team the advantage and allow you to push up further for example with less risk.
      In terms of mechanics, I think spilo would recommend tryhard FFA (in the custom games tab) it's free for all deathmatch.
      Personally in ow1 when I realised I was stuck in silver due to never getting peeled for as a support and thus eventually dying i spend 150 hours in quickplay playing ana only until I got 3 MVP cards with 92%+ on fire in a row with a combined death count of 5. I then climbed to high plat in a week. Purely because I got very good at dueling and survival without any form of help from a teammate. That made me able to play more aggressive or just have more impact in general because I could live longer.
      If all you do while living longer currently is heal against sniper comps for example is that worth it? You teammates die from headshots not spam damage so applying more pressure would be more beneficial because eventually they will hit a headshot you cannot outheal. For example if you play near a corner and you know there is a sonic at that corner just walking closer to that corner might change the hanzo's crosshair placement even though you never go around said corner. If the widow just shot you jiggle peeking at the corner will maybe mean she now holds her crosshair at that corner instead of someone else even though you will never peek again.
      Things like that are so small but can be very beneficial. You are priority number 1 to kill as a support so every time you bait them there is a high likelihood they will take the bait.

    I completely disagree about your views on Moira. I'm a Top 500/GM Moira main (Kiriko secondary) and Moira isn't a worse Kiriko at all. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, you can do things as Moira that you can't do as Kiriko and vice versa. Especially in regular ranked play, Moira works just fine. You can easily pressure the support backline from afar with Moira which you can't do as reliably with Kiriko. Moira has burst heals and sustained high hps that can be applied to multiple teammates. Kiriko has a 1s invul with okay single target heals although no burst and burst dmg if hitting crits. It's all about how you utilize the kits that makes you better or worse. Moira is definitely more difficult to pull off in higher ranks but why would anyone pick the easy way out with Kiriko :p

    I was a high masters support main in ow 1 but in ow 2 I struggle to climb and it feels like I can do whatever I want and can output almost inting levels of value. I feel like I'm going mental every game until i int like 1 or 2 fights and lose lmao... but on tank i went from being like high diamond player straight too t500 but nobody wants to q w my tank or recruit me for a team cos they call me a troll :(
