Lawn Engineer: Your comments are helpful to the viewers who only need to see the instructions straight from Simplicity's manual on how to level the deck on a Regent, but the problem is that none of those instructions actually work. I can't even access the (2) huge "15/16" nuts in the back for the front to rear leveling adjustment nuts. In addition unless you happen to own an expensive professional mechanic's business garage which has an expensive mechanical hoist and a large steel table which is necessary to be able to access the adjustment nuts, you are out of luck! I have the 23 hp, 42" fabricated deck Regent and it is 1/2 " too high in the front and it is 1/2 " high on the left side and will not go any further down to reach the level point. Also the lift lever has no effect at all, it does not raise the deck up or down when pulling or pushing the lift handle. Further, when the deck is at it's lowest point by the electronic switch on the dash, the rollers do not touch the ground by about 2 inches so the deck can not be lifted off the hooks in the front for removing the deck. Do you have any pointers?
    Thank you.

You have the raise the height of cut to make sure the rollers engage the ground to take the weight of the deck off the front hooks.

Your videos are great. @ 9:45 you mention rear traction not being very good. I have a hilly property, and many times must back up hill. My solution for the last 12 years is to just pull the mower deck up, and it will back up hill with no wheel spin. Also leaves less marks on the lawn by doing this.

You can put a level on top of spindle and measure down also. Thanks for explaining the concentric bolt.

You’re welcome. Yes, the spindle is a good spot to measure from 👍

The best leveling gauge on the market is sold at a John Deere dealership. I think I paid about $6.00. Saved me bunch of time when I owned a mower shop.

I’ll have to buy one and see for myself, thanks for checking in.

The ease of Deck leveling, compared to my Cub Cadet, is another clear win for the Simplicity. All of my adjustments are designed similarly to your front/back, with rods hanging from the frame. I struggle mightily with it every year when I exchange the deck and my snow blower attachment. Even after I level it, the actual grass seems to cut unevenly. Caveat emptor.

I have been continued to be impressed also, the price difference is worth it. I am not sure why they aren't more popular.

I have a Regent 38 also I purchased new in 2010 , very good mower, there not popular I believe because they are expensive and people today just look at price, we live in a through away society

Yea, I agree…how precise does it really need to be? If you’re not mowing stripes into the outfield at Fenway Park, I don’t see that a 1/16th or 1/8th…even 1/4”, is worth the frustration unless of course you’re nuclear ADD!
Still, it’s great knowing how if the situation should arise.
The tire pressure information was most interesting and helpful.
I’m sure I over bought for my home…but the truth is, at the time I didn’t own a tractor, not a real tractor…just a lawnmower tractor and I needed the beefy steel tail fin to attach my log splitter to pull it. Any other lawn tractor was just cheap stamped sheet metal and bent down immediately under the weight. Not the simplicity.
But now I have a compact tractor so, I’m thinking of selling the simplicity and picking up a cheap actual lawn mower tractor.
    Time will tell.

Wow, it's so nice to communicate with a sensible person with common sense! There is no way both blades are exactly on plane with each other. They are mounted at two separate locations on a deck that is not precision machined.
It's funny that we are on similar paths but different directions. I had a John Deere 1023e with a 54" deck before the Simplicity. I used it to do some wildlife foot plots on the side but that venture ended. Anyway, I got rid of it because it was not the right machine to mow my grass. A large flat property would be fine but too much scalping on my uneven terrain. I guess I'm trying to say good move on not trying to mow with your compact tractor.

      Wish we’d had talked before!!🤣
The tractor is a gift from my wife…I keep because of her profound sense of compassion for my addictions 🫢…I also butter her up in order to get more tractor time!!
One of my many projects, is to build garden paths through the back acre of our property. I’m hoping for a root cellar out there too. Have you ever taken a crack at a root cellar. I’ve got a basic idea….I think I’m going cinder block construction and cover with excavated earth! Any recommendations?
      I won’t be mowing it however!!🤣

@@keithrayeski6417 nothing beats a tractor with a 3 point and loader for getting things done. Maybe she likes the projects you accomplish with it 🤣.
I do not have any experience with a root cellar but it sounds like a great idea. I can’t seem to find time to garden and can enough to need one. Cinder block walls make sense. The roof structure seems like it’s the most important part, what are you thinking about doing there?

I strongly suggest using something like the HD Switch mower deck leveling gauge. It is currently available on Amazon for approx. $10 USD shipped. Why go thru all the trouble & not do it correctly.

Oregon and Stens make a deck leveling tool which works very well. A simple tool that is about $8.00. To me it was well worth it. Arm goes under the deck to bottom of blade and the measuring scale is on the outside.

@@TheLawnEngineer Why measure the deck? You MUST measure the blades..both front to back and side to side.
