I struggled with too many clean clothes at once that folding became too big of a task too! My solution was smaller loads. I was always filling my machine as full as I could, but then I had a mountain of clothes to fold by the end! So now, I only fill the machine halfway way. I find my clothes dry better and it takes only 5 minutes to fold when they’re done! I’m happy to do a few loads back to back, as long as I make sure I’m folding the clothes right when they come out of the dryer :) Sometimes folded clean clothes still sit around in my living room for a day before they make it into our dressers though, I’m still working on that one
Sometimes when i am overwhelmed it helps to write lists. Include things that you do everyday anyway - get dressed, brush teeth, eat breakfast. The list looks super long, but crossing things off really helps to calm my brain.
I haven't watched yet (ust about to!), but your first 10 seconds explaining the fake bug behind you...I FELT THAT to my core as a work from home mama who has to be on camera a lot😂😂😂 THANK YOU for being so REAL and relatable!!!
Feeling so seen with this video. I no longer fold my pajamas, underwear, or cozy clothes. Cuts down on the amount of folding I do. Having a clean bathroom counter top is a must for me.
Just knowing many of us have the same challenges helps me a lot. One of my shortcuts is to have a similar meal on certain nights each week, for example Thursdays I do a pasta dish. It saves me some of the thinking 😵💫
I've always wanted to get into a weekly dinner rotation like you're describing, but haven't ever given it a try. I want to! Super smart way to combat decision fatigue.
I appreciate you for sharing cause GOD knows I've been struggling over here and don't even have children!🤣... Great tips overall especially the laundry concept!
Being In the THICK of postpartum (8weeks) with my third boy I needed to hear this today! The kitchen is my non negotiable, I cannot function without a clean kitchen!
Blair, it's like God knew I needed this. We came home from Greta's hospital stay and new T1D diagnosis to a house in a complete state of chaos. (Which is obviously understandable, but not going to work with our current overwhelm.) This video calmed my heart so much. And the laundry tip for one cycle at a time start to finish - why does that feel like a light bulb moment?! 😂 That's going to be our new rule.
This was so healing. For me growing up people didn't run their dishwashers until it was full, or only a few times a week to "save water". It took me six years of having my own house before I realized I PAY THE WATER BILL! RUN THAT THING TWICE A DAY IF I NEED TO! It was sooooo freeing to realize this. Having dirty dishes in the sink or on our counter was stressing me out so much!
Oh my goodness, this video is so perfectly timed. I’m not a mom yet but my sisters have three kids each that I help with, and I live with aging parents including my Dad with MS and man, I needed to hear this right now!
Needed this video! October felt like treading water between working full time and illness (both my baby’s and my own 😅) we have been in survival mode, not exactly thriving mode. Making a list of things to do in a day does make me feel accomplished, and having something as a reward for completing a task (like a show, a beer 😂, or an outing) I think I have to learn to give myself (and my husband) a lot of grace too with our host. Take on a team mentality of “we can do this together” it’s hard to me to keep that in good prospective when the house is a mess and I’m stressed out
Kitchen is clean and closed before bed. Laundry is done for the night. Pre make lunches and breakfast sandwiches for the week on a Saturday or Sunday early morning- so all we do is pull and go in the AM during the week. My husband and I are both nurses so we have similar schedules and we work 4 days a week so on those nights sometimes it’s a frozen pizza with a salad and a Diet Coke. Breakfast for dinner. rice/hamburger bowls with a drizzle of our favorite sauce on top. Spaghetti with sauce and I fry up some ground hamburger and incorporate it into the sauce quick. Another quick one is stir fry steak pieces in a quick soy sauce with corn, rice, lettuce and carrots on a wrap or over a salad. But our favorite is sometimes the chik fil a or Wendy’s drive through. ❤
A Roomba has been a game changer for me. when the floors are clean and pet fur free everything looks better.and I don't have to vacuum myself. (It even gets under the furniture.
I have to sweep everyday (we have a very sheddy dog) and have a clean bathroom and kitchen island. I'm okay with a little bit of clutter but not with grossness.
So great! I feel like motherhood has totally changed us type A’s and man is it a learning curve. Luckily, I’ve enlisted my teenage stepson’s help. His chores and our must dos are unloading the dishwasher and taking out the trash. I do not take his help for granted and tell him every chance I get!
Blair, I so very much enjoyed this video! Your story reminds me so much of mine!! I was a perfectionist and for almost 10 years before kids and kept a perfect home while making scratch made food! 😅 Add 4 kids to the mix and I’ve had to adjust my sails and learn a skill set to my homemaking that is totally different-more relaxed. Your tips are so good! We have just moved to a new house last week and I’m in survival mode. I will remember the main things to keep us functioning in the meantime and that I am not alone! 🤍🤍🤍
I heard this on tiktok a while ago (I think from KC Davis?), that every room has the same categories: trash, dishes, laundry, things that have a home, things that don’t have a home. When things get rough, I focus on the first three categories in each room. If I have the energy, I’ll put things away that have a home. For things that don’t have a home, I’ll gather them and put them all in the same spot. When I start to feel better again, I work on finding things a home. My type A personality is balanced by my type B husband who lovingly reminds me that we own things, they don’t own us. But man, with a one year old, my label maker is collecting a LOT of dust.
Love the dinner ideas! I also almost always have homemade meatballs in the freezer for busy weeknights and super easy to add to the spaghetti (and taste way better than store bought lol)
I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment with my oh-so-desorganized (god bless him) husband. Sometimes I feel very overwhelmed because it’s a small space so his clutter and mess bleeds over to “my side” and I feel like I can’t escape that chaotic environment. When everything is out of order, my priority is always the kitchen. If the kitchen is spotless, all dishes put away, the stovetop is clean, the microwave is shining, and the countertop is cleared out and wiped down… then I feel much more at ease and feel like I can slowly start to tackle the other areas. While I’m progressing and starting to pick up the rest of our space, I will sometimes go hangout in the now clean kitchen to catch my mental breath and then resume the cleaning. 😅
We have cleaners come every 3 weeks to do the deep cleaning, eventually we may move it to every 2 weeks. It’s the best day of the month 😂 laundry and dishes are #1 priority in our house too. Our whole marriage my husband has done dishes and I have done laundry. This was the smartest partnership decision we’ve ever made, because we both own our job 100%
Blair, do you (or will you) have a discount code for the Aura frames? Thank you for making these videos. I really enjoy the variety of content & how relatable you are.

Great point. I love lists!!

No matter how hard I try 😂

This is by far one of the most inspiring and encouraging home life videos I’ve seen. THANK YOU 🎉❤
Being In the THICK of postpartum (8weeks) with my third boy I needed to hear this today! The kitchen is my non negotiable, I cannot function without a clean kitchen!
Congratulations on your new little love!!! The kitchen is also my non-negotiable.
I really needed this video today😊 thank you Blair!
You are so welcome!

loved this encouraging video! If I can get a handle on dishes, laundry, and dinner each day I feel it's been a good day.

Totally do the same thing with the kids pajamas. I don't zip the sleepers becasue we have to unzip them to put them on anyways!
A Roomba has been a game changer for me. when the floors are clean and pet fur free everything looks better.and I don't have to vacuum myself. (It even gets under the furniture.
I love your channel! ❤ these a great tips!
I needed this, thank you! It has definitely been that season of life for our family.
Us too!
I have to sweep everyday (we have a very sheddy dog) and have a clean bathroom and kitchen island. I'm okay with a little bit of clutter but not with grossness.
Same. Stuff here and there is fine even though I don't love it, but it's gotta be sanitary. Especially the kitchens and bathroom.
So great! I feel like motherhood has totally changed us type A’s and man is it a learning curve.
Luckily, I’ve enlisted my teenage stepson’s help. His chores and our must dos are unloading the dishwasher and taking out the trash. I do not take his help for granted and tell him every chance I get!
You are so right! I'm so glad your son helps out. We're starting to work on our kids helping as well! Mama isn't doing it all!

You are so not alone! Congratulations on your move--hope settling in goes well!
Thank you, Blair. I'd love to see more videos like this, including your cleaning routine. I don't have one and need one.

KC Davis is the ultimate guru on this topic, love your thoughts on her method. My label maker is also dusty 😅
Love the dinner ideas! I also almost always have homemade meatballs in the freezer for busy weeknights and super easy to add to the spaghetti (and taste way better than store bought lol)
SO much better than store-bought. I should do that, it's a great idea!

My priority is always the kitchen, too!!! Thanks for sharing your perspective

That is awesome!!
Funny enough, laundry is always at the very bottom of my list. I postpone that as much as possible. Maybe that means I have too many clothes. 😂
My must do is a 5 minute pick-up and dishes. Also, I invested in robot vaccums!
Lol! The bug intro 😂 thank you for that bc I 100% would be sitting through the entire video trying to analyze that.
Hahahahhaha. Honestly a ridiculous but very on-brand situation--talking about keeping the house in order with an enormous dung beetle in frame
I have lived by the delay wash ever since I heard you talk about it years ago!!
Oh I love that! It's so helpful
Blair the intro 💀😭🤣
