"The melody is the most thing that will stay in the minds of the people who listen to you. No matter how many notes you can play, you can't let them forget what the song is." George Benson
Hello Yakov,Although for the last two years I have been studying Upright Bass, I still take such pleasure in viewing your lessons. You are a gifted teacher; clearly explaining and demonstrating the applicability of the concepts outlining the theme of each lesson. You are also very encouraging and have a way of instilling reassurance no matter what a persons level of technique may be, suggesting: "simple approaches in the beginning are fine", which in turn I'm sure helps to yield a building of confidence. I save your lessons as a reference for when I want to play my guitar, although my attention has been focused on UR Bass the last couple of years; what you impart conceptually, is applicable all around. And finally, it is a delight to listen to you play. Glad to see and hear your back!
Yakov, you're the best! I follow you since many years and I bought many lessons from your website. I learnt all from your guitar-class. Many thanks from Roma, Italia, and Merry Christmass to you and your family. And if you are not catholic, well, Metty christmas with the little "L" :-) ciao, AndreA
Hi Andrea! thanks for this comment! I'd love to see you in person - have you consider joining my retreat in Italy? Less than one hour from Roma- courses.gypsyandjazz.com/courses/italy-2018 Best regards Yaakov
geat!!! I wish I could but I have to work Jacov. Well, just drop me a line when you arrive in Italy, okay? I will read your message, Have anice staying, ciao, A.
Hi Yaakov For a newbie to gypsy jazz soloing this is pure gold! Thank you. Having the melody in your mind is a definite help. Hope you don't mind if I reuse some of your terrific phrasing though!
Wondering if you could revisit this piece and perhaps include the Bridge, which is one of the most interesting parts of the song. Seems incomplete. Not being rude. You're a fine teacher and I've bought lessons from you in the past, but leaving out a major part of the song seems odd...could you help us?
This is one of my current issues, to always sound the same, even every chorus kinda sounds like the one before. Do you have any other advice on how to get a little more free? Thank you!
+Perpetual Motion Well - the better you know your fingerboard, The better your technique is, The less you need to think while playing, The more you enjoy the moment of playing- The more interesting your playing is! Seeing the melody with in chord shapes is really helpfull Stay with one tune for a long time - learn it in depth Feel the freedom for the first time and then you'll want to feel it on more songs as well. This is what my this course is all about: courses.gypsyandjazz.com/courses/tu-djaial
Hi Yakov I have always been a big fan of your course and the reason I loved your old site was that it was not forcing me to invest a lump sum of money at once but I could spread payment by buying modules one by one. I am very tempted to buy your last course but in the future could you consider a multiple option payment such as spread over three months. I understand it is your living and I also appreciate that it is a great offer but $99 is not always spare for some people. I know that u can set up direct debit on PayPal if you look into it.Anyway. Just a thought.
+Samuel Loth Hi Sam I understand you I aim to do both - But I can say that now, when I re-edit the lessons of my old site - I find it much more methodical and accurate to add a few lessons to one larger learning movement - I can them assure that the student has learned thru all the path I am thinking of. Sorry I couldn't help for now but I'll definitely put that in mind.
It would be awesome if you explain the other section of the song 😊
Maybe someday!

The Bpart wouldn't help teach that subject... But here are the chords. Hope it helps-
