@Manuel I'm a Note 9 user, and it's just a perfect phone. You got the S Pen, a decent camera and everything. It's more affordable too since it's an older phone. The display is still fantastic. And oh, headphone jack.
It feels more like a flagship phone than the newer flagships from the rest.

I appreciate the fact that you used a note 9 for demonstration. It's daily driver as well (upgrade is almost due and im almost condidering letting it sit for a while because I love it so damn much) and I've been looking for something like this for my phone to use steam link while at work.
Heads up! Had mine a few months. The left side of the controller breaks. It has something to do with the ribbon cable in the flexible part.

I am still angry that my Razer Serval lost support so quickly after I bought it and I can't properly use it in Android 10, especially on my Steam In Gome Streaming and PSone emulator, if it worked in those two and nothing else I'd still be fine with it. It uses bluetooth and it should be native on most games.
That's it, just wanted to vent out frustration with Razer controllers on Android. Now I'll watch the video.
Whats the problem with pad? Its possible that you don't have inbuilt support for gamepads other than ps4/xbox in your android 10 OS, so you have to install custom rom/kernel
Why not use an xbox one controller and a phone mount adapter, pretty much the same thing
@@Biggie_Monk I think the point was that he bought a razer controller to do that and it doesn't work for him. Not everyone has an xbox one controller lying around.
Razer has a history of bad support with their devices. Just like the project Fiona.
Mine still works fine. The problem with it is that it requires the old Synapse software. Synapse 3 won't recognize it. Which is still pretty stupid, since i have to have both versions of Synapse running at the same time.
actually, if you have an nvidia graphics card, use moonlight, it s like twice as good as rainway and work on every type of connection

For anyone genuinely interested. Android controllers are basically HID devices, you can get a similar experience, even slightly better by going with manufacturers that actually cater to Android gaming like iPega or Gamesir for a lot less money and better quality than this, they don't have type C connectivity though, but, the input lag is negligible in 90% of cases.

On top of cloud gaming or game streaming, I’d love to see more IOS/android games have a cross-buy option with consoles and PC. Modern phones are on par with a Nintendo switch interns of performance, so why are gamers not giving more reasons for more substantial games to be on the phone. Phones a a few smart moves away from doing to gaming what the iPhone done to iPods, and homogenise my portable devices. I would totally carry around a Bluetooth controller to game on the go.

Works great for emulators and xbox cloud gaming. Zero input lag like those bluetooth ones. Great product!
I have this and it's great! I have a thicker phone and it was easy to modify the rubber underneath!
I've used a bunch of android specific controllers like this (ipega, glap, etc). And for $99, just buy a Xbone Controller or a DS4 with a cheap foldable phone holder for almost half the price and twice the quality.
And you'll maintain access to your charging ports, no deadzones issues, it won't block your speakers, and it has rumble for specific games or PC game streaming. My DS4 has become my main android gaming controller
Yup I have an Xbox controller with a $14 clip and it feels like I have the ultimate handheld.
But with that being said I see the appeal of these controllers. Like if the razer Kishi had the same button feel, triggers, and thumb sticks as an xbox controller it would be well worth the $99 at least to me. But from what I gather from the video that's probably not the case
This exactly. I use my DS4 for times when I want a controller... usually emulating old playstation games like Vandal Hearts or something, works fantastically.
the 8bitdo N30 is surprisingly good, it's what I use for emulators on my phone.
The DS4 doesn't work for me. Seems it requires android 10, in which I will never get support for considering my phone is a Samsung Note FE I bought around almost 3 years ago

You can enable home screen "Rotate to landscape mode" By holding on your screen to open the home screen menu, then pressing home screen settings and scrolling down until you find the option. This will allow your home screen to rotate like an iPad!

@@Deinorius its direct xonnect trhough usb lort. Virtually no latency. Im so mucj better and accurate. The analog controls are godly good. It reaaly feels like a slightly smaller xbox controller. Best investment ive done for myself with the amouny of games i ca play for hours per session. Plus cast it to my tv when im home. Homemade switch.

I've never had issues with USB c. To be fair, I never had issues with micro USB, although USB c is far better.
This also wont work with THE gaming phone ROG 2, because its usb port is off-centered.

There's a Razar app that helps you tune the controller a little better called Kishi (easily enough to remember the name), and recommends games that are compatible. You also didn't cover how easy it is to charge your phone while still in the controller cradle. Shout out to the Note 9 too! Amazing phone!
there are two things that seems to be a bad point in your review but are actually a really good thing : 1) clicky buttons, because Razer use mechanical switches which is great compared to other Android controllers 2) non clicky shoulders but because they are capacitive which is great for racine games and better than any other android controllers
I cringed at 2:32 - 2:36 when you were flexing the controller inwards... Did you forget one side of the controller is still attached to your phone's USB-C Port?!? ...I was feeling every bit of it's pain!

For anyone considering Rainway, if you have an Nvidia graphics card I'd recommend Moonlight over Rainway. Moonlight's interface isn't as pretty, but performance-wise it's much much better than Rainway.

That looks great... if it was like $30. $90 is WAY too much! Get a small 8BitDo controller instead for $40. They have Bluetooth and outstanding buttons
The sn30 pro+ is $50, has handles like a ps4 controller. And they sell a clip thingy so you can mount your phone to it. That solution is just as good. Finished botw via cemu that way, its great.

I agree it's overpriced but I'd like to have more controllers of this type to choose from. I mean those which are on the sides of the phone and are connected with USB. I don't like the balance and moment of inertia of a controller with a phone attached at the top, and, if it's physically connected to the phone anyway, I'd rather have it connected with USB, not Bluetooth.

To be fair, you will get used to the input lag. I reached G rank on monster hunter freedom unite and played thumper on mine.
Both games are pretty strict with input precision.

I can answer one of your questions:
It shouldn't damage your screen because the controller is plastic and your screen is glass. And glass is much harder than plastic and cannot be scratched by plastic. You should be fine unless you have a plastic screen protector.

You can get the Razer Kishi for like 30 dollars/euros second hand. They are fantastic for that price, also don't go for the Kishi V2, it adds just about nothing while costing double

went with gamsire x2. too many people complaining about hand fatigue, mushy buttons, and bad build quality for the kishi. gamesire is super nice and clicky
The top video on the controller is Linus fighting with a couple games, throwing in the towel while banging on the phone, and screaming"It's great, now subscribe!" This is why TH-cam shouldn't just favor the top channels. There are so many way better, and more in depth videos on this controller. Lol.
There are so many of these on the market, so there are a lot of options... First time seeing a strap to keep them attached instead of it being telescopic! Think it would be a little more flashy being a razer product and I have seen better designs but not bad!

I like how the controller connects via USB, which makes it easier to just plug in and play. It's not the easiest controller to handle though and takes some getting used to. There's lag and latency issues when playing Halo 5 with it, but that could just be that things are still being worked out on Microsofts end. I also find it a pain to fold back up after using. All that said, it is definitely not worth $80.

If this was reasonably priced, it'd be great for PSP and PSX emulation on the go, but as is, it isn't really worth it, especially for the quality it seems to have.
it is worth it if you use it... I use it at work during breaks and it's a must have. Linus is rich and has no time to really play games.
