I like chemistry, physics, astronomie and i am a "food-chemistry-student", so all I need is now on the TH-cam channels of Nottingham University. Brilliant !!!
How cool! How interesting! I'd never heard of Bambara Groundnuts before. Good luck with your research. I look forward to future vids on the channel. I've enjoyed almost all of the Nottingham Uni channels with their excellent and informative content. Good work, guys!
As a biology student, these video's really excite me! Think, I would like to have an internship or career on the subject of alternative/future crops. Thanks to the uploader for the inpirations! I hope more will come!
Wow, this looks like one of the best jobs ever. It's fascinating PLUS you know that the results of this research might save a lot of people from starving someday.
Are they also finding saleable products for the ground nuts? I note the flour but think that what is made from the flour may be the more saleable item. I ask as I have recently read about the introduction of peanuts as a cash crop and the slightly panicked invention of peanut butter to give the farmers a market. It would be good if the whole packet is together to start with.
I love raw peanuts, but i try to limit my calorie consumption. So this high protein cousin sounds wonderful, it'll probably make you feel full faster. Now i want to try growing it in my garden. *checks wikipedia* *feels stupid* apparently my region is already a major exporter of bambara groundnuts, durrr.
And, hopefully, Monsanto will keep its greedy mitts off them. Aha - I occasionally see groundnuts as an ingredient in European or Indian recipes online. I've been baffled by what that means. This video helps. (I'm in the USA).
@roidroid But proteins are one of the major sources of calories in food! The fact that these nuts have a high protein content isn't all that good for you. It does make them sound like a good meat replacement though.

@Monchichito nice idea... I'm pretty sure we'll get into that... There is a really broad range of food research being done in Nottingham.
@SealTeam1 thanks for coming over - hope you like these videos too!

I think I'm going to love this channel! I'd be interested in the allergic responses of this food as compared to those who have peanut allergies.

Very Interesting, are those in the market at all?

Peanuts have root nodule - (if that is that same with Bambara Groundnut/host) Nitrogen fixation Bacteria with soil composition researches is needed.

Cool.
