Very interesting the way he carefully parsed his answers to the religion question(s). You can tell he was trying to be careful to not offend. Totally side-stepped the "you think you're going somewhere?" and brought up science right away, being curious and liking facts.

There is already a gay NASCAR driver that competed in Truck Series, and the drivers did not mind him. Stephen Rhodes have been out for a long time, and he was supposed to have run the full 2014 season and had a sponsor lined up.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was thinking that Bill Davis had a driver in the late 80's/ early 90's that was doing great things in the Busch series and screwed them over going to hendrick motor sports. I believe he might have been the first Gay! driver. I wish I could remember his name?

I'm pretty disappointed with the way he answered his question of faith. I have been a Jeff Gordon fan for 20 years and thought he shared my love of Christ. I am a christian and proudly profess it. I also love science. I don't believe you have to choose one or the other.
When a person is brought up to believe fairy tales and has the courage to explore beyond that, it makes them a far wiser person than they could have ever been with their face stuffed in the bible and their mind closed to everything else. If you allow yourself to learn science, regardless of faith, you have opened up your mind to the many wonders we can see and not just the stories you read.

Elliot Schrock There was a study carried out on children who were raised with religion and those who were not. The study showed that children who studied religion were unable to grasp the difference between fictional and non-fictional characters in story books. This is realized as delayed learning (aka learning disability).
So, whether you believe religion is real or not, the study - without assuming religion is fake or real - was able to prove that children brainwashed with religion aren't developing properly.
Furthermore, it correlates bullshit like Santa Claus and any person who ever lived and ultimately died is still dead and has no influence on the future as it happens, just like fake characters in books. Likewise, gods, just like Mayan, Egyptian or Greek gods we know without doubt never existed, are no different that the gods brainwashed fools believe in today. They do not exist. Everything we know about the universe is contrary to it and everything we once didn't know and now do know provides us with a realistic expectation that it is explainable, even if we don't know it yet. It was never a magical man out of nowhere that created the universe, the earth, us, etc.
To wrap it up, science and studies are proving more and more every day that religion makes people retarded.

Shock Diamond Ok, just for the sake of an argument here, I would question several things regarding a "study" that determined anything. This is my point about just believing anything that you read because you read it. You, being of a scientific mind no doubt, would have to agree that a study can support almost any desired hypothesis depending on the inputs involved in said study. Meaning, for one question alone, what religion exactly? I'm sure there are several religions and denominations that are quite oppressive. I do not consider myself a religious man because I think that many religions have too many man made rules and sanctimony that have no basis in Biblical scripture. But I digress...
The God of Christianity is not the same as the other gods you mentioned for the reason that there is evidence of his existence. There are numerous atheist scientists who agree that because the universe is expanding, it began. And, because it began, and began from nothing, there are laws of nature that allowed this to happen. Ergo, they predate the universe. Suggesting that the idea that a non-physical set of forces predated the universe to cause the creation. This allows for the existence of God as a creator. So you can't really say that everything we know about the universe is contrary to the existence of God. On the contrary, I believe that these discoveries corroborate the claim, if not validate, that a creator exists.
There is also more than enough circumstantial evidence to support the existence of a historical Jesus than would be required to convict a murderer beyond a reasonable doubt. Not to mention the historical and archaeological evidence that has been discovered that also is not evident with other gods.
I understand that I would never be able to convince you of what I believe, as I believe you would never be able to convince me otherwise. My point is to just suggest that when opened to other viewpoints and arguments, you would have to at least admit that it's a scientific possibility that God is real. Which was my point about Jeff Gordon (which is where this all started). I am fascinated by science and believe that it has it's place in society and even in Christianity. However, I don't think that it's wise to attest with absolute certainty that the God of Christianity could not exist.
