      Hey Candice, next time try leaving the "cookie dough" in the fridge overnight instead of adding much more maple syrup/vanilla. This usually does the trick as the dough thickens up and the flavours somehow get combined. I swear you will not get the bean/chickpea aftertaste. If you eat it right away after preparing it, you are right it does taste like sweet hummus. By the way, love your videos!

      Edgy Veg Use oat flour instead of almond flour...for whatever reason, oat flour gives more of a cookie flavor!

    My chickpea cookie dough recipe:
    1 can of chickpeas
    1/4 cup of peanutbutter
    1 tbsp vanilla
    1/4 cup + 1 tbsp quick oats
    2 tbsp maple syrup
    Mix this in a foodprocessor and add in as much chocolat chips as you like. This is sooo good!! You cant taste the chickpea at all!!!❤️

  • @aliciacroft
    @aliciacroft 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    You can just use toasted chickpea flour and made cookie dough similar to how you normally would. Just stir chickpea flour around a pan on medium till aromatic and lightly golden all through and fully cooked (otherwise is bitter raw). Toasted chickpea flour just tastes nutty - just like when you roast chickpeas.
    I use xylitol instead of maple to sweeten, coconut butter/coconut oil/vegan buttery marg as my fat instead of p.butter, I too use some almond flour - a 50-50 with the chickpea flour but you dont need to. To make it "healthier"/less reliant on the fats - and stretch it further, I sometimes use some soy milk thickened separately with xanthum gum. Its freakin amazing.
    Ive seen the chickpea recipes - but my thoughts were the same: sweet hummus: gross.

    I happened to be making chickpea chocolate chip cookies the other day (for the first time) and the dough was to die for! Like crazy good and actually a lot better than the cookies themselves... I'm surprised the white beans worked better for you (though I have started putting white beans in strawberry smoothies and it's delicious). Maybe it's the brand of chick peas or you have to be extra sure to rinse them super well? I had no hummus taste at all. Enjoyed this video a lot!

    Super super interesting. I like how you improved the hell out of it and was like eh no I’ll do it without the chickpeas haha. While I was watching I was thinking that maybe you could have added more peanut butter, vegan butter, and maybe some ground up oats. Peanut butter to help with the flavor, and butter because regular cookie dough has that richness from a lot of soft butter, and the oats would have helped with the texture I think maybe.. idk I’ll have to try it out myself I guess 🤷‍♀️ what do you think ??

Take the ground flax seeds and mix them with water. Let stand for 10min. Meanwhile, mix the hazelnut butter with the sugar using a spoon then add the flax "egg" you just made. Put in the rest of the ingredients and lastly, the chopped chocolate. I like to use very dark chocolate because the cookie is so very sweet and buttery thanks to the hazelnut butter. The mixture should be firm but not crumbly. Form little balls and flatten them into 3cm discs about 1cm or less tall. Bake for 10/12 minutes in a 180C/350F oven. They won't change shape or spread at all so however big you make it is how big they will be when cooked. Let cool completely or they will fall apart.

U can also use 1/2 beans 1/2 steamed cauliflour as the base. I use 1/2sucanat 1/2 dark brown sugar instead of maple syrup so as to put less moisture in the batter. I use oat flour to thicken it up. Honestly, you don't make this thinking it will taste like cookie dough. You make this when you are on a diet and want to be healthy AND vegan and kind of enjoy dessert. In my experience cutting out the amount of nut butter and increasing the ground flaxseed will make it less nutty flavored and neutralize that chickpea taste. I used brown sugar because a liquid sweetener will kill the consistency and liquid sweeteners have a distinct taste. I havent tried this part yet but I imagine adding some almond flour to the mix will further dull the chickpea taste.

    Add baking powder, coconut sugar, and chocolate chips and bake them into cookies

    I think if you used fresh chickpeas that you soak yourself the bean flavour would probably be more mild, I always find fresh beans taste better then canned beans.
