Well I got an HST Mark III because of your demonstration! It is not like anything I have used before. I am thinking of starting the Begali per month club. 73 WS4K
Pete I can't think of a better addiction to have. Great video. Great to see you using a Ten Tec. I still use a Corsair I bought new in '82. Are you using an internal radio keyer? if not what are you using? 73, WS4K
Eric Kennard sorry for the late reply. Yes I love my Orion and was considering selling it but changed my mind. I am using the internal keyer. Don’t have any issue with it apart from the speed being slightly off. I have to set it to 1 WPM higher than is needed. Fir instance, if I want 28wpm I set it so 29.
I have seen only the Version 3 but all are Impressive keys... One question,,,where did you learn Morse code? My beginner class with CW ops begins this coming January 2021 and I wish one day to be able to send like you do . 73 de KD2VOX
Karl Oz Hi Karl. Well that’s very kind of you to say that. I am self taught but that was back in the early 90’s. the key with CW is practice. I learned by converting shop and street signs and car numbers to CW in my head. The sending part is easy, copying is a little more challenging. Good luck with the CW ops academy. I hope to work you someday. 73’
Hi Karl... I just finished the CWA Advanced class and have been at this for a bit more than a year. Along with practice goes perseverance. Many students give up along the way. The retention rate in CWA is about 50 percent between each class. I am going to TA for an instructor next semester to get my feet wet on the other side of the (virtual) desk. One thing I can say is that if an instructor is not working for you, don't give up. There are about 80 instructors in the program and there will be many who will suit your learning style. The other item for you is that the "instructor" does not teach you Morse Code; you teach yourself Morse Code. The instructor is there to provide feedback, encouragement, and a fun environment to learn with your peers. Along the way you'll learn some about operating CW mode as well. 73 de AG7TX...
I really enjoy your videos Pete - thanks for taking time to share them with us. Generally speaking, what are the advantages of magnetic return vs. spring and are they more pronounced at higher speeds? Hope all is well for you & yours. 73 de KI5GX
Magnetic keys are less likely to be impacted by environmental factors, such as changes in ambient temperature. Cold spring behave differently than warm ones. Magnetic force does not change at all. That’s one main reason why I prefer a mag return key. 73’
I believe it is for fixing the key to the operating desk. Thanks for watching the video, I hope you enjoyed it and be sure to check out my others. 73 Pete G0PNM
Perfection! Love you

Can you show how to clean and adjust the HSTlll? Also, do you make covers for the Sculpture Galaxy?
Thank you.

What is the through hole towards the back of the key for?
It's also on the MK3 but not the MK1

I still don't know exactly what Side-swipe mode is??????
Check this video to see a good description of a cootie (sideswiper). th-cam.com/video/5LsRpn-1bmA/w-d-xo.html
Cootie/SS is when you use a double straight key. Dit's or Dah's on both sides-made by hand, not by electronics-no keyer is used.
You can easily go bankrupt with your addiction hi. 73
TOP!
