There IS a mod where you can revisit the temple of the seeker in gothic 2 and find the pieces of uriziel. The Hero can reforge it to its best stats only when He has some rare items and innos' tears. Also in the mod you can buy and Ride a shadowbeast. But it's only available in German from worldofgothic.de
For the Seeker Theory: The whole 'The Seekers' quest (if you are a mage) is about revealing the true identity of them. Karras said that they were once human, who devoted themselves to an ancient demon (the Sleeper in our case), and the power of that ancient demon was like drugs for the worshippers. After a while this power corrupted the worshippers to the point when they become mere shadows of themselves. I think this was answered in the game but it only raised question about the true identity of the Undead Dragon, because he was their master. Some theories say that when the Sleeper was banished from the realm of Adanos, only his physical form was banished, it is still a possibility that he could bind himself to that world through the use of a vessel, a vessel powerful enough to hold such mighty being as the Sleeper himself (a skeleton of the dragon looks powerful enough for that purpose). It is kind of supported further when the Undead Dragon said to the Nameless Hero that he has no name either, which was also said about the Sleeper by Ur-Shak, when he was questioned about that entity. Ur-Shak said that he doesn't have a specific name and he is called by many names. And this could be the reason why the Undead Dragon was able to take control over his former sect members and transform them to the Seekers, because he held the power of the Sleeper.
Id say that the Undead Dragon is The beast mentioned in archives of the ancient ones in G3. "And Adanos called a flood, and the being was washed off the earth."
@@Johy315 yes, that one was flooded aswell, I do not know whether it was one flood for entire world or Adanos flooded the continent aswell as Jharkendar at different time
About swampweed: as sad as it sounds, Vatras forgeting about it is simply for mechanical reasons. Swampweed is consumable and limited, so while it is unlikely you could end up stuck in the mainquest if you use all the swampweed in the gameworld.
Not necessarily. You could easily have him not forget about it, while still being able to perform the ritual without it. Let's say the swampweed would give a slight buff in stats if you remember, but still have its core function of speaking to the dragons if you forget.
Lester tells you about the Seekers too. It's an actual confirmed part of the story. The fall of the Sleeper made them all go insane, because he was in control of their thoughts. The people that didn't turn into Seekers were stronger minded than the rest. With Lord André, I think a lot of things got lost in the translation, you get told very early in the game that not every Paladin knows about the Eye. I think the Title Lord doesn't had anything to do in this case other than he is in fact in charge of training the folks to fight. I could be wrong though. Anyway, nice to see someone make Gothic videos these years, was thinking about starting a full knowledge video on Gothic too one day.
Well, we don’t really know much about the seekers, they could be just people who worship Beliar and that’s all (I think most of the convicts in general got killed after the fall of the barrier, mostly by the Orcs or the Myrtanian Army). What if some of them are dark mages from Varant? It could be About Lord Andre, is title is “Paladin Lord Andre” and he is a high commander of the myrtanian army (I think he is like a Colonel), while Paladin Lord Hagen is a general of a full army, that’s the difference (which means most likely only the generals, the high fire mages and the king know about the Eye of Innos). You need to consider the Paladins as an elite military regiment of the royal army of Myrtana. Not every member of the order will know that huge secret of course.
Nameless Hero If you play as a Mage in Gothic 2, you'll get a Quest from one of the mages in the Monastery (his German name is Karras, but I don't know if he's called like that in the english version), and throughout the quest you actually confirm with him, that the Seekers are indeed the Members of the Brotherhood of the Sleeper. The Quest is only available to Mages, so some might not know of this quest.
In g3 vatras was captured in the assassin village that had a swamp weed farm. Coincidence that he was the only caught watermage and the location? Don't think so
About lord Andre. There were examples in real history when a lower rank military officer were given duties that would put them above higher ranked military officers . These decisions were often made because a certain officer with a lower rank seemed more capable at a given task than other higher ranked officers. We may speculate that Andre was the most qualified for this task (running militia). His ideas, plans and proposed mesures seemed more suitable than those of other higher ranked paladins. So he was assigned for such a task.
Also, when the paladins came to Khorinis, they didn't give a damn about the militia. That's why u can see them raiding the farms and robbing the fishermen and the Paladins not caring at all. The paladins only need the militia for man power, to defend the city in case of an attack by orcs or mercs. So it makes sense none of the "really important" paladins want to bother with being in charge of the bunch, whereas Andre might see it as a chance to prove himself in a way.
Gin S Exactly. Although Paladin Lord Andre is a high ranking officer of the royal myrtanian army, like a colonel basically. While Paladin Lord Hagen is like the general of the entire army. It’s possible that only Paladin Generals, High Fire Magicians and the King himself know about the secret about the Eye of Innos.
BJ Strife It’s possible that Paladin Lord Andre wanted to organize the militia let’s say “differently” from what they used to be, well yeah maybe, but who knows. Every city under the rule of Myrtana has a militia garrison, they are the city guards and have different armors from the army. The royal army use the rebel armor from Gothic 3 and then there are the Paladins.
Good point. I would like to add that, from a civil-military relations perspective, the „lord of Khorinnis” is more focused on civil and penal law and generally dealing with the community, rather than military strategies and tactics that are into higher officers' duties. Andre is not only about the monopoly on violence (in their case militia), but also great judge and administrator. But what about THE ACTUAL Judge? :D He is so useless now
I second that. Andre is a much more reasonable and down to earth person than, say, mentioned Lothar who is a self-righteous prick who's probably only good at following orders, hacknslashin' shit, being smug and getting murdered.
The Water Mages come from Varant (which we explore in G3). Swampweed is a BIG part of their culture (we see this in G2, as well, when we find Abuyn using a water pipe) As for Lord Andre, he's too low ranking to know about it. Just look at his armor, its the 1st tier paladin one. The "lord" title could be because he inherited it, while the militia itself is not priceless. The militia are, in fact, the common cops. Remember, the mission of the paladins is to harvest the ore for the war, not handle petty crime and whatnot. So who do they put in charge of that? The lowest ranking paladin they have.
Lord Andre is a Knight not a paladin and you are told in the game that only Paladins of a high rank and select few know about (all fire mages are included) the Eye of Innos. Pay attention to what characters say. Also being called Lord just could mean he is from a prestigious family ( let's not forget that there are lots of those in gothic 2 and some of them ask you to call them Sir or Lord, like Lord Onar ).
Knights are still members of the Paladin Order, when you become “Knight” the guild faction in the menu says you’re a Paladin anyway. It’s a matter of choosing heavy or medium armor (in reality would like this). Of course the developers for gameplay reasons left the heavy paladin armor as the end-game best equipment. But you’re right about only High Ranking General Paladins, high Fire magicians and the king himself know about the Eye of Innos
@@Arkady_Noname maybe a lot didn't play the first Gothic 1.. so when you hear or read stuff in game it won't make much sense because you don't have the background from the first game. It's new for me too and i've finished the game like 3 times and played like 100x.. yes restarting all over sometimes because I take break and then more games got my attion and put it aside and of course restarting makes want to play the game from the beginning with a fresh start :-). But I didn't play gothic 1 before Gothic 2. Gothic 2 was in my collection but back then I disliked the low graphic resolution ingame. It was quite old. Later I found out about the widescreen and 60fps fix and blue screen fix with Nvidia cards and higher resolution and then I got into it and since then it's my favourite. Gothic 2 is my favourite but Gothic 1 comes very very close to it and it has something special
Andre is the only low-ranking Paladin (one who wears the Knight armor) who really has a name or dialogue this early in the game. Higher ranking Paladins seem to have more immediate duties with Lord Hagen in the upper quarter of town, with only Lothar coming down to deal with you as a new arrival. I think Lord is just a generally overused term in the English translations of most fantasy RPG's because it sounds like someone we should hold in high esteem, even though a classic feudal lord was someone who held governance over an area of land. Lord Hagen makes sense as a Lord, because he takes over for the Governor as commander of the island, while having a military authority as well. The title of Lord for Andre is probably just a matter of them not knowing what title he SHOULD have, but he could also be one of Hagen's chief lieutenants who would take over in Hagen's absence. There's no evidence for this, but it makes sense that he would have multiple knights and paladins assume some sort of autonomy in areas they are best suited. Example: Garond commands the expedition in the Valley while Hagen administrates matters in town and manages the rest of the army. If Hagen were to die, someone like Albrecht might take over the military command while Lothar takes over administration, and meanwhile Andre, who maybe has past experience in commanding militias in defensive strategies, would remain in command of the men-at-arms if the city were to be besieged. Anyway, pretty good video. If you don't mind, I might reference it when I do a new Gothic II walkthrough, since I feel like you raise some interesting ideas. I will link and credit this video when I talk about it, of course.
The theory about the Seekers and the Swamp Camp is confirmed. I also think that the mage in Irdorath was a very powerful and devout Baal, maybe Baal Tondral
It was a years since I played last time, but I do belive that, if you are fire mage and finished questline with study of Seekers, Black Mage will reveal that he was, in fact, a Cor Calom and was ressurected.
to 3. -> Lord is an appellation for a person or deity who has authority, control, or power over others, acting like a master, a chief, or a ruler. The appellation can also denote certain persons who hold a title of the peerage in the United Kingdom, or are entitled to courtesy titles.
Andre was granted the title of Lord because Hagen gave him the position as commander of Khorinis' militia (law enforcement) as well as civil judge. Why exactly he has chosen a knight for that job is the question, but it has likely to do with the fact that he needed all his available paladins for the war against the orcs.
The fire mage Karas(I think) also tells you that the seekers were most likely the brotherhood of the sleeper people, most of them. The only known survivors of the sleepers influence were Lester and Angar.
and when you must meet with xardas and pryokar and hear pyrokar ranting to xardas and xardas begin mysterius I think anyone wodul want to smoke to calmdown
Late response but for the Swampweed I think its just for practical use. Lester said in Gothic 1 it also helps to concentrate. And since its a highly difficult magical procedure it could help to focus. Or it was to cool down the heat between Xardas and Pyrokar, and the third because he didnt want to be left out :D
to 1. -> although Karras at the firemages tells you in chapter 5 i think, that the seekers are half human half demon, and beliar took their souls, than the hero says, they were members of the swamp camp.
The thing about Pyranha being lazy about making new gun is very harmful. It's not being lazy, it's more about being practical. And there are many cases of re-using your old work - not only in game dev industry.
Remember that some noble families would buy themselves the knightship, since having the son of a big noble house serving as a knight would create a strong bond with the house in question, providing resources for the crown like money and armies. But hey, it doesnt mean the dipwit is a good knight, so you may let him handle lesser tasks while praising and overvalue that same task as to not hurt egos.
As for Lord Andre, I think that it was pointed few times, even by the Paladins themselves, that their main and only important goal, is to complete king's mission to collect as many magical core as possible, and get to fight in Myrtana's continental part. That's why a job to deal with Khorinis citizens was given to some low-rank soldier (and whose low rank would be showed with worse armor and conspicuously worse sword), and as for the title of "Lord", it may mean two things - either all knights are lords, maybe just Piranha Bytes didn't decide to include the "Lord" in the name, or just their noble titles are treated separately from the war merits. And about Uriziel, it's more likely what you said, that it's probably just re-use from the old texture and design. Just look at the weapon in this game - it's almost impossible to find a one, that you haven't seen in Gothic 1. I can only think of Wolf Dagger, Lizard Sword, Battle Axe and the Fighting Pike, that wasn't in previous game (not counting weapons from "The Night of Raven)
Here's my take on 'Lord' Andre: Before the Paladins arrived, he might have been a noble or such in Khorinos (probably commander of the militia still) but when the Paladins arrived, instead of putting one of their own in charge of the city's guard, they simply supported Andre for the role instead (giving him Paladin armour as a way to denote his new standing/rank with the Paladins). However, this is really mere conjecture.
Theory one is confirmed if you go with the path of the fire mages. They uncover this based on a text/book you find during your playthrough. The Seekers are in fact from the swamp camp in Gothic 1
You got a new subscriber, amazing channel!, I never taught that the Seekers are actually from Sect Camp, just like Pyrokar told Nameless after the last Circle of Fire.
+1 +Sub * amazing Video. * Your Theories are logical. I think Lord André was the Chief of the Militia as the Paladins came to Khorinis. Lord Hagen prompted him to a Paladin Lord as Part of the Local Authorities and because he also gave him more Responsibility.
Since you were required to bring the plant, not the processed stalks, I wonder what he would have needed the swampweed for (maybe chew it or make an elixir of some kind to connect with the gods?)
About seekers, is not even a theory, it's a fact. You learn that when you join mages. About swampweed - All Vatras does is stand in the town and preach. The most he sees of other mages is maybe the Daron (the fire mage). So being able to smoke some weed and talk about the good 'ol days with two of the most powerful mages might be nice for him. About Andre - He's highest ranking of the low ranking knights. Or lowest ranking of the high ranking. Whatever. Title of Lord is, afaik, given to nobility, so it might just be a sign that he's a nobleman, not a high-ranking knight. For example Lothar doesn't have such title, and he's much higher ranking paladin. Also - a job of overseeing town't militia is not the greatest task, so giving it to some ambitious young dude is a good way of solving the problem, rather than wasting good soldiers for it. About no. 4 - Uriziel is not the most powerful sword. It does magic damage, and as such it doesn't benefit from strength, so something like the Wrath of Innos is more powerful in terms of raw killing power. Game forces you to use Uriziel because nothing else can damage Apocalyptic Templars in the last part of the game.
just start playing and read/hear the story they are telling you.. little by little you will understand it. The level up is also very easy.. just gain some experience in town doing quests and kill easy monsters.. and then just go to a trainer and increase Strength or Dexterity etc etc etc. And it's hard to find the money to trade so you have to check out a lot in houses to loot :-)
Hey you!! I think the best fraction to join is our community. :) Also... did you know if you go to the 6th chapter without the eye of Innos, Xardas will write you a note in with he blames you for it. Greeting fellow gothic fans!
Vatras needed Swamp weed because he knew it's really useful in creating magical bond with others in powerful spells. That's what Novices from G1) did. Lord Andre has lord title probably because he is a member of some important/royal family, thats why he as a much younger paladin is in charge of lower parts of city instead of for example Lothar. (fun fact, Andre was supposed to be in the place of Lothar. If you go to the place where Lothar meets you first time and press Alt+U you will see the waypoint map, and in the place where Lothar stands is signed "Andre")
I think the swampweed thing with Vatras is only a massage for us, palyers, especially for the younger players. That weed is a good thing to have, but you do not have to stick to it, and if you have to do something, you have to be able to do without it :D This game is full of hidden massages wich are very usefull in life. Or maybe im just dellusional :D (and a true hardcore fan)
Nope.. that is definetly not the Message.. they got government funds for those games.. if at all it would be drugs are no answer.. the german government used to not fund games that praise drugs.. use of drugs is okay
Lord Andre is a faithful servant of Inos and a disciplined soldier. Once the paladins came to Khorinis he was appointed commander of the militia in order to prove his worth and rise in the ranks of his order. The militia indeed plays a very important role in keeping peace on the island, however, given the importance of their mission, namely getting the ore for the King, the higher ranking paladins probably considered it more important to appoint a lower ranked officer as commander of the city guard. After all the militia are also sworn to the King, so theoretically nothing can go wrong. Besides, militia men are kinda dum and realise that as soon as paladins takes command, it doesn't matter what rank he has... Militia be like: The new commander is a guy shining and expensive armour appointed by the King to serve the country as paladins nonetheless? I'm not fucking with that... Also, it would be typical for high ranking Paladins commanders to not waste their time with menial tasks such as taking command of the local militia... But hey all the better for Andre right? That's my take on it anyway. PS: whilst playing, I couldn't help but think that Andre would've somehow made a better commander than Hagen...
1. we all agree that seekers are members from the sect. Novices, templars and gurus/baals. Also one of the main powers of the sleeper is possetion. And swampweed helps that. In gothic 2, the undead dragon, former sleeper, takes DIRECT possetion of the seekers who encounter the hero and try to posses your hero. 2. Yes, vatras is a pothead. But it's strange that he only wants swampweed plants and doesn't accept swampweed rolls. And they don't even smoke it before the ritual. 3. Lord Andre is not a paladin, he is a knight, check his armor. What's the point in telling EEEEEEVERY single member of the knights about some ancient lore of some artifact...? How is that relevant to Andre? What IS relevant to him is why the paladins went on an expedition to khorinis, or knowing about the thieves guild... definitely agree that lord andre is low rank. After all, the paladins came to khorinis ONLY for the magic ore... they couldn't care less about the random bandits in khorinis like rengaru. But the murder of lothar? Lord hagen immediately focused on it himself instead of andre. The title of lord is because andre is in charge of a significant position in khorinis 4. you bet your ass it's lazyness, gothic 1 took about 4 years to make and gothic 2 took about 1 year. Plus, almost all the monsters in gothic 2 vanilla are the same ones from gothic 1. Barely any additions. But it works. Also yes it's a reference, the hero, xardas and milten are the only people who know about that ancient powerful weapon. The hero would say ''hey, if I'm gonna make a sword, I want it to be the BEST damn sword ever... and the best I ever had was uriziel''. You might want to work on your pronunciation of its name, you completely butchered it. There are other examples of recycled swords used under different names. Same with the bandit armor, formerly mercenary. Even minecrawler armor. Tons of recycled stuff. Here are a few theories for you: 5. orcs fuck sheep. Go near old camp, outside, in the arena where scatty was. Go inside the arena, the room on the left... there is an orc with a sheep. Not one single sheep anywhere in the ''old world'' gothic 2 6. If you take biff as a crew member, your hero leaves him stranded on the island. Before you kill the undead dragon, Biff is anxious to get off the ship and take gold/valuables (this is what he was promised). After you kill the dragon, the hero couldn't care less and says he can get off the ship and loot as much as he wants. But the plan is to get off the island asap. 7. urshak was not some random lowly orc in gothic 1. He was a powerful leader. The hero says it himself, ''so you were just using me as a puppet, you were evil all along'' and urshak confirms it after you kill his mentor (whatever his name was). He pretended to be your friend in order to be the leader of the orcs 8. every single human that you leave on the island gets killed, but I haven't played gothic 3 yet. THorus is an exception, no idea how he got away. But it is said that orcs took over the entire khorinis island. 9. xardas was using the hero from the start. From the beginning of making the barrier. He wanted to steal the sleeper's power, and he knew about the ''hero''. He was always evil. 10. a lot of dexter's bandits were actually the bandits east of the troll plateu in gothic 1. Up north. West of the exchange where you start with your hero. The area is 100% blocked in gothic 2 11. There was an unknown war before gothic 1, why did the west tower completely collapse? There's even a gap in the wall (same place where the orcs attacked in gothic 2) 12. Long ago, 1000 years ago when it was said that the sleeper defeated the enemies of the orcs, the orcs built a lot of structures around the colony. Every single spot where you take the focus stones in gothic 1... those were all orc camps, you see their statues. The 5 altars are orc teleports, half confirmed in gothic 2 NOTR. But there is an extra one outside the cave where you take the almanac in gothic 1, with the black goblins cave. In gothic 2 there's an altar... I suspect orcs can teleport there, that's how they bring reinforcements so insanely fast. And some time afterwards, humans came and stole their teleportation technology and used it in jhakendar. The magic belonged to beliar, there was a war between adanos and beliar.... doesn't make adanos look so righteous anymore, does it? Humans invaded the orcs and stole their land.
I think Andre is the most high rank man among knights (he wear the knight armor) but he is not a paladin. The title of "lord" is a consequence of his role in Khorinis as militia's chief.
actually Andre being put in charge of the militia makes sense, Lothar got killed supposedly by a blacksmith "yeah right", so you'd assume he's a rather weak paladin, and Andre is way more connected by personality to the common people than the rest of the paladins even if he's of a lower rank so he could calm the masses. That doesn't mean he would be a good commander/officer. Think about it, whenever a common person talks to a paladin they kind of get treated like garbage, and the paladins had no plan of protecting the people's of khorinis while Andre is very kind and opened by comparison if you know what I mean.
About the Uriziel : its just a ancient sword made out of magic ore and something else (Dragon blood). Its about the rune inside of blade. Rune of Uriziel that made that sword so powerful. Mages in gothic 1 takes the rune instead of sword. (Please excuse my english)
Andre is a Lord, he is highborn and thus disliked by most of the fellow Paladins because he was born into his station rather than earning it. So he's forced to do the shittiest menial job of all that nobody wants to do: being in charge of the Khorinis militia. It's a win-win, the rest of the Paladins don't ever have to see or talk to Andre, and Andre who seems like an power-tripping anal kind of guy can spend his time making up rules and arresting people.
Nothing suspicious about andre if u ask me :D He is a knight, probly promoted from a millitia man... but the citizens call him Lord, because back in "that" time it was common for for the commonoers to call the knights lords. Espc. if he is in charge there of something vital or big :)) Props love the vids.
The most famous Paladins and the greatest among them have the title of Lord. Examples: Lord Dominique, Lord Rigaldo, Lord Lee (once), Lord Hagen, Lord Roland etc...
Knight Armor is a Paladin Armor anyway, they’re referred as Paladins. The Order of the Paladins is composed by Paladins (full plate armor) and Knights (Knight Armor). The most important among them, like officers, nobles and generals have the title of Lord.
how is the seekers being the former swamp camp members a theory? it's a fact. the fire mage Karras confirms it when you complete he's quest for the seeker-repellent amulet
1:30 Come on, the gods don't ever "mind control" anybody or anything within the game. From what is implied, I don't think they could even directly communicate with earthly beings. The people from the Brotherhood were controlled by the Gothic 1 main boss, and later taken over by the Gothic 2 main boss. If you talk to Lester after beating it, he even tells you that his headaches are gone.
In Gothic 1, Sleeper is the Avatar of Beliar. So yeah Beliar's power is within him and can indeed control others. In Gothic 2, the Undead dragon is the avatar of Beliar once again but this time it's a fraction of Beliar himself ( he even points it out) so Undead Dragon is Sleeper getting controlled even more by Beliar.
Vatras : I could find the eye of innos but i was high . I could beat the dragons but i was high . Now i am sitting in Khornis and dont know why ....why ? Because i am high because i am high because i am high .
first of all you should make distinction between Gothic and Gothic II. To 1. Wasn't that clearly solved in Gohtic II? to 2. In Gothic swampweed was getting very popular in the new camp (with help of the hero). So it could just be possible that the returning water mages brought it with them and it got popular in the order too. But spiritual properties are also likely, that was the reason for the production in the first place (but knowing the humor of some of the developers from interviews I think its is more a weed joke). To 3. Militia work is gruntwork, the higher paladins have better things to do, than bother with common volks. The Lord title does refer to his position in the Town not in the Order. His sword faction are most likely important for ingame mechanics, so that players can try to flee from him and the guard won't attack him if the AI goes haywire for some reason. To 4. The special thing about uriziel was the magic gem/rune in it, but given the ore lore the blade must have been strong enough to contain that much magic. So it makes sence that there aren't to many blade forms that could work that way. But yeah they probably put it in as an easteregg or to cut corners.
The seekers were some new enemies for the planned G1 Addon. Occultists praying the Daemon. And yes, they should have been memeber of the sect camp. That's one of the many things that got from the G1 Addon to G2.
1) Theory about Seekers is 100% true, because it's even stated in the game. At least only if you play the Mage route. 2) Smoking weakened Psionics minds, so that shouldn't be the case for Water Mages. Everyone in Gothic enjoys some weed though. 3) Yeah that's kinda MEH from Piranha. I agree. 4) I don't think it's laziness too, but many of the weapons use old models and textures. There are even weapons that have the same name as weapons from previous game, but they're not the same.
You should definetly play Gothic 2 the return. It´s about 200 Hours of gameplay and reveals so many secrets that didn´t make it into the game in the past. But do yourself a favor and NEVER EVER install the language package... it sounds awful just like the google translator haha
The preaching of Vatras: ... But the Light was a torment for Beliar, all that Innos created was destroyed by Beliar. But Adanos saw that this was nothing could exist at all, no Light and no Darkness. And so he set himself between his brothers in order to reconcile their dispute and he did not succeed. But there, where Adanos stood was a place which Innos and Beliar had no power. And in this place Order and Chaos were equal. And so the Sea was created. And the Sea released the Land and there aroused all creatures, trees as well as animals, wolves as well as sheep. And last of all aroused the Human. And Adanos was pleased with what had arisen. And he delighted in all the beings equally. But so great was the wrath of Beliar that he came across the Land and shows the Beast. And Beliar spoke to it and the Beast became his subject. And Beliar gave to it a portion of his divine power so that it might destroy the Land. But Innos beheld what Beliar had done and he also bestroke the Land and chose the Human. And Innos spoke to him and the Human became his subject. And Innos gave onto him a portion of his divine power so that he might undo the work of Beliar. And Beliar spoke to another creature but Adanos brought forth a tide and the creature was washed from the face of the Earth. But with it the trees and animals were also washed away. And a deep sadness overcame Adanos. And thus spoke Adanos to his brothers "Never again shall you walk upon my Land for it is sacred" and so shall it be. But the Human and the Beast waged war upon the land of Adanos and the wrath of the Gods was with them. And the Human slew the Beast and it entered into Beliar's realm. But Adanos saw that Order and Chaos were unequal and he bate Innos to take his divine power from the Human. And Innos in his wisdom did so. But Adanos feared for the day in which the Beast would return to the Land. And so he bate Innos to leave a part of his power in his realm so that he might restore it to the Human if the Beast should return. And Innos in his wisdom did so... Damn we need more of this! It's like Greek mythology lesson!
I always thought that was the same sword reforged (recreated) only you know... without the magic properties stolen from the ore mound. Hence the grey gem.
For the first theory about the seeker. I can confirm that is true, because, Spoiler: on chapter 6 if you are a magician of fire and talk with the dark mage he will confirm the theory about the Seeker.
My theory is that uriziel has blue gemstone because it sucked runic power in gothic 1 at new camp and dragon Slayer is the same sword but without runic power. PS:Sorry for my bad English it is my second language.
Yep indeed seekers cause of weak mind from smoking after destroying barrier became seekers. It makes me think that acctually sleeper is an avatar of beliar ?? btw come see my making of his mask/logo xD
I love gothic, and his story but... theories are just our theories 😀 instead i think that the truth is... it's just a game, a good one of course, but with plot holes like the most common stories and movies, and we build up theories because we like to imagine good things for what we like very much... in this case Gothic!
From what I understand of the lore, swampweed helps you focus. In contradiction to what cannabis in real life does. I think that it would probably make it easier on the mages to perform the ritual, more than anything else. And heck. People love to use mind altering substances together. It can bring people closer together.
In my opinion, the nameless hero made his best sword look like Uriziel, because he was so used to the look of it and he felt "attached" to it. :)
How did you know? 😳
i just looked at your post. definitely agree
@Igknight Gallant Gothic 2 Varusbiker Edition. Sollte auf worldofgothic.de zu finden sein.
That sounds very sound. I like it. I am sticking to this theory :)
And this could be the reason why the Undead Dragon was able to take control over his former sect members and transform them to the Seekers, because he held the power of the Sleeper.
i like that. that makes sense. except the dragon said that he and the hero hadn´t met before....
Id say that the Undead Dragon is The beast mentioned in archives of the ancient ones in G3. "And Adanos called a flood, and the being was washed off the earth."
@@janpavlik3170 that can be jharkendar too right?
@@Johy315 yes, that one was flooded aswell, I do not know whether it was one flood for entire world or Adanos flooded the continent aswell as Jharkendar at different time

About swampweed: as sad as it sounds, Vatras forgeting about it is simply for mechanical reasons. Swampweed is consumable and limited, so while it is unlikely you could end up stuck in the mainquest if you use all the swampweed in the gameworld.
he was like "i wanna smoke, did you bring it?" -"No." -"oh.....that's a shame....well, nevermind" :D just like real life pot smokers haha xD
Hey did you bring the swampweed? Nah bro i consumed it all already.
Not necessarily. You could easily have him not forget about it, while still being able to perform the ritual without it. Let's say the swampweed would give a slight buff in stats if you remember, but still have its core function of speaking to the dragons if you forget.
Hands down for the man who was able to smoke everything in the game xD
To me it felt like he wanted to smoke and had nothing to do with anything else, then like a stoner Vatras completely forgets about it :)
Thanks for commenting :D It's nice to see people who're still into Gothic after all these years. More video's coming soon ;)
Hey! I was looking for you at steam but I couldn't find you... could you give me your name or link? thx!
Well, we don’t really know much about the seekers, they could be just people who worship Beliar and that’s all (I think most of the convicts in general got killed after the fall of the barrier, mostly by the Orcs or the Myrtanian Army). What if some of them are dark mages from Varant? It could be
About Lord Andre, is title is “Paladin Lord Andre” and he is a high commander of the myrtanian army (I think he is like a Colonel), while Paladin Lord Hagen is a general of a full army, that’s the difference (which means most likely only the generals, the high fire mages and the king know about the Eye of Innos).

Hope you'll come back, there can never be enough Gothic content on YT.
He liked the comment
The Water Mages come from Varant (which we explore in G3). Swampweed is a BIG part of their culture (we see this in G2, as well, when we find Abuyn using a water pipe)
As for Lord Andre, he's too low ranking to know about it.

The Seekers ARE the former swamp camp guys. This is NOT a "theory", *it is literally confirmed to you when you play Gothic 2 as a fire magician.*
Who confirms it?
@@boriserjavec6470 I think it was Milten.
@@boriserjavec6470 Karras, there is entire questline focusing on revealing Seekers identity.
My G1 theory is that we play as a King's Spy, who was sent into the barrier to regain control over mines by any means.
One of the Fire mages confirms the seeker theory as well. Karras or whatever his name is, in the monastery's library.
Yes, is true. It is very strange that so few people pointed to this.
Actually, in the original Gothic 2 game, the German version, Lord Andre's name is just Andre, so it was just a translating mistake.
Actually I'm pretty sure people still call him Lord Andre in the German version though. It Just says 'Andre' above his head.
You're good at making videos mate!
Noni Means a lot! Thanks :)
Where'd you get the necromancer robe?
Really cool video bro! Thanks for this
Vatras is from Varant. Varant is in Myrtana area where the production of swampweed is normal, so it is not surprising that Vatrast smokes it.
and when you must meet with xardas and pryokar and hear pyrokar ranting to xardas and xardas begin mysterius I think anyone wodul want to smoke to calmdown
6:08
I wouldn't call it laziness in designing, I think it was more like "c'mon, design of that sword is too cool to NOT reuse it"
Since you were required to bring the plant, not the processed stalks, I wonder what he would have needed the swampweed for (maybe chew it or make an elixir of some kind to connect with the gods?)
Game forces you to use Uriziel because nothing else can damage Apocalyptic Templars in the last part of the game.
afaik the axe of Lee is the strongest weapon in G1 due to the strength part
edit: nvm it's innos wrath it's just that Lees axe is easily obtainable
It is explained in the game that the seekers are actually sect dudes or atleast there are hints in dialogs
Oh man.. I love G1,2 and 3 !
Thank you for including 3

G3 is SHIT!
I need to play gothic again! I was like 12 years old back then when I discovered gothic and I sadly doesn't understand every aspect of the game
just start playing and read/hear the story they are telling you.. little by little you will understand it. The level up is also very easy.. just gain some experience in town doing quests and kill easy monsters.. and then just go to a trainer and increase Strength or Dexterity etc etc etc. And it's hard to find the money to trade so you have to check out a lot in houses to loot :-)
As fire mage, fighting the possesed, you learn that the seekers are actually the remains of the brotherhood of the sleeper.

Hey you!! I think the best fraction to join is our community. :)
Also... did you know if you go to the 6th chapter without the eye of Innos, Xardas will write you a note in with he blames you for it.
Greeting fellow gothic fans!
Thanks, now I wanna play G 1 and 2 again... :D
Andre is a nepotism hire, got his pops in Rhobar's court.
PS: whilst playing, I couldn't help but think that Andre would've somehow made a better commander than Hagen...
the part about the seekers isn´t much of a theory if the game itself tells you that they were former members of the swamp sect in gothic 1
Vatras low-key used that excuse to get high as a muthuaphukka
All the guards from the New Camp were smoking weed in the first Gothic.
Great video!
1. we all agree that seekers are members from the sect.
The title of lord is because andre is in charge of a significant position in khorinis
4. you bet your ass it's lazyness, gothic 1 took about 4 years to make and gothic 2 took about 1 year.
Here are a few theories for you:
5. orcs fuck sheep. Go near old camp, outside, in the arena where scatty was. Go inside the arena, the room on the left... there is an orc with a sheep. Not one single sheep anywhere in the ''old world'' gothic 2
He pretended to be your friend in order to be the leader of the orcs
8. every single human that you leave on the island gets killed, but I haven't played gothic 3 yet.
The area is 100% blocked in gothic 2
11. There was an unknown war before gothic 1, why did the west tower completely collapse? There's even a gap in the wall (same place where the orcs attacked in gothic 2)
In the game it was already revealed the seekers were former sect camp members.
the first Theorie is true
If you play as an mage you can get backgroundinformations abaout the seekers
I think Andre is the most high rank man among knights (he wear the knight armor) but he is not a paladin.
The title of "lord" is a consequence of his role in Khorinis as militia's chief.
I think that lord Andre didn't come with the ship, but it was the highest paladin in the island before they came
actually Andre being put in charge of the militia makes sense, Lothar got killed supposedly by a blacksmith "yeah right", so you'd assume he's a rather weak paladin, and Andre is way more connected by personality to the common people than the rest of the paladins even if he's of a lower rank so he could calm the masses.
Nothing suspicious about andre if u ask me :D
He is a knight, probly promoted from a millitia man... but the citizens call him Lord, because back in "that" time it was common for for the commonoers to call the knights lords. Espc. if he is in charge there of something vital or big :))
Props love the vids.
The most famous Paladins and the greatest among them have the title of Lord. Examples: Lord Dominique, Lord Rigaldo, Lord Lee (once), Lord Hagen, Lord Roland etc...
Yea, but Andre does not hail the tite, and he is not wearing the paladin's armor.
Knight Armor is a Paladin Armor anyway, they’re referred as Paladins. The Order of the Paladins is composed by Paladins (full plate armor) and Knights (Knight Armor). The most important among them, like officers, nobles and generals have the title of Lord.
3:53 Lord Andre is a Knight not a Paladin
Those who wear the Paladin Armor are also Paladins
how is the seekers being the former swamp camp members a theory? it's a fact. the fire mage Karras confirms it when you complete he's quest for the seeker-repellent amulet

Come on, the gods don't ever "mind control" anybody or anything within the game.
The sleeper is a god himself. No avatar, yet aligned with beliars order. The dragon is beliars shaddow.. so a fraction of beliar.

first of all you should make distinction between Gothic and Gothic II.
That's one of the many things that got from the G1 Addon to G2.
such a pitty though.. we might would've gotten a different expansion in Gothic 2 then if they would've pushed it through.. well it's what it is
1) Theory about Seekers is 100% true, because it's even stated in the game.
Angar, Lerster and also Fortuno made it
On my playthrough im running with big dragon sword instead of dragon's loss or berserk's as it is Uriziel :)
Why is Angar switching from British to American accent?xd
Gothic 1 desperately needs a re-release thats been improved and fixed up, similar to what they did with G 2 NOTR .
You should definetly play Gothic 2 the return. It´s about 200 Hours of gameplay and reveals so many secrets that didn´t make it into the game in the past. But do yourself a favor and NEVER EVER install the language package... it sounds awful just like the google translator haha
This mod is a trash
Lord Andre is not a Paladin but a Knight .
I can confirm that is true, because, Spoiler:
on chapter 6 if you are a magician of fire and talk with the dark mage he will confirm the theory about the Seeker.
Probably swampweed helps for all thise 3 guys to conect to their gods and thats why water mages have swampweed
oh god dayumn. Why oh why did I watch this. Now I'm more pissed than before that I can't run Returning 2.0 :(
my ears are hurting for that dubbing :D polish best
And I prefer the Original German Voices. But oh well, everyone has it's own taste.
BS video, theory 1 is a fact quoted several times inside the game seems someone was not paying attention, go replay the game, 2 3 4 whatever
lol he's already talking about the 2nd game.. you mean go play 3rd and 4th?
My theory is that uriziel has blue gemstone because it sucked runic power in gothic 1 at new camp and dragon Slayer is the same sword but without runic power.
PS:Sorry for my bad English it is my second language.
as a mage you will find out that theory 1 is actually true. it blew my mind cause i never knew until i played the game as a mage
i suspected 2 aswell haha
This video is awesome
reason for lrd andres position: Nepotism.
Bravo!
the word is hypothesis, not theory.
Yep indeed seekers cause of weak mind from smoking after destroying barrier became seekers. It makes me think that acctually sleeper is an avatar of beliar ?? btw come see my making of his mask/logo xD
Really cool video, but first one isn't theory. It's a fact. If you play as mage, you will find out truth about Seekers.
I love gothic, and his story but... theories are just our theories 😀 instead i think that the truth is... it's just a game, a good one of course, but with plot holes like the most common stories and movies, and we build up theories because we like to imagine good things for what we like very much... in this case Gothic!
Jolo jolo jolo!!! Os qiuiero chicos, estais locos!
From what I understand of the lore, swampweed helps you focus. In contradiction to what cannabis in real life does.
I think that it would probably make it easier on the mages to perform the ritual, more than anything else.
And heck. People love to use mind altering substances together. It can bring people closer together.
Vatras 420 weeeeeeeeed
Cuz Lord Andre is not a new-comer-paladin just like all of the rest paladins that came with Lord Hagen, he was always citizen of Khorinis, u noob.
omg...cant hear the english voices. :D
SPOILER WARNING XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD (2002 game btw)
