"Cancel my subscription to the resurrection" is such a good line. As is "I want to hear the scream of the butterfly." Don't know what it means, but that's not important, it sounds great.
'Absolutely 'definitely one of the Greatest ever live recordings!! Just amazing, remembering my drug fuelled teenage years in 70s England!! Some crazy times! But now I'm a Grandfather , wtf !!.. How have I made it this far !!! ?!!.. My kids can't believe it, but it's all cool! Love your reactions lad, it's wonderful to hear the music I loved back in the day though your young ears!!..... Yeah I had great taste!!..
There were shows Jim started with this, almost a test of the audience. If they caught the vibe he knew they were on the right trip with the band. Hollywood Bowl live is up on YT in HD, they start the show with it. And yes, John is a criminally underrated drummer.
Geez,i envy the people who saw the Doors live,i didn't get into them until i was 17,introduced to them by vietnam vets i rode around with, great fellas, great days, great memories.Unique band.
In 2012 I think, I saw Krieger and Manzarek perform at the Space at Old Westbury. They performed "When the Music's Over." I brought my 20 year old daughter. It was unbelievable.
Great classic live album. I still remember buying this album around 1972, sitting in front of my first stereo hi-fi and listening to all four sides a few times. It's great that you like and appreciate our music, unfortunately no one can give you the feeling of that time, for us back then it was always a new band and album with music that you had never heard before, in contrast to today, has it really been that long ?
Very dynamic album and such a tightly knit band! I got hold of the "In Concert" set (which brings together the original 1970 live album and "Alive She Cried", issued a decade later) for a low price through Amazon. Like so many late-1960s bands. the Doors moved seamlessly across several styles and genres.
there's a live Zappa track this reminds me of. There's police in the theater and rebellious hippies are yelling at them "why are you wearing those uniforms?!" Frank stops the tune and he says to the audience, "Everyone in this room is wearing a uniform. Don't kid yourselves". And there's a hush....like they get it and are mildly ashamed

One of my favorite live albums growing up. No I’ll take that back one of my favorite albums period. Hey L33 put some more “spicy” on it! Classic L33 gotta ❤ it.
I remember When The Music’s Over from my childhood. It sounds dark to me… The live show was interesting rock history. Lots of rude behavior… Thank you, Lee!
I’m really glad you did this one. You seem to really enjoy this one it showed in your reaction and I knew you were going to love the “shut up” 😂 Also, the reference to that New York for you you the only people that rush the stager guys yeah … that’s in reference to two people in the audience actually brand and one grabbed the mic stand and another kind of fell over and grabbed Jim’s leg….. they were quickly grabbed by security and rushed off. The sage doors were jamming through it and then he made that reference I guess if they were chicks, he wouldn’t of minded lol Anyway, thank you so much for doing this. You’re amazing truly enjoy all your reviews and all your pics.
Ray's double duty keyboards were extraordinary. He doesn't get nearly enough credit. Who else could do that? And Robbie - such a unique sound. Nobody played it cleaner. And John.. nuff said. Superb band but Jim got all the attention. The only other performer who could get away with telling the audience to shut up was Lou Reed. Rock 'N Roll Animal was one of the greatest live albums ever. Executive decision maybe? Jim's father was an admiral who was involved with the infamous Gulf of Tonkin false flag op that started the Vietnam escalation. Jim and dad were supposedly estranged but that wasn't true
That sound is the reverb unit in Robbie amp. It's like the signal is sent thru a set of long springs in the metal box and if he jiggles the amp you get that weird sound.
That strange sound you hear is the spring reverb unit inside one of the amplifiers that receives a shock( for instance by hitting the amp with your hand or guitar) making the spring rattle against the transducer.
A friend of mine who was a few years older than me (he was a singer in a Doors cover band) showed me how cool the Doors were. Shortly afterwards, Jim Morrison died in Paris. But since then I've collected all the vinyl and bootlegs I could get my hands on..Greets from hamburg/germany @all and thanks for sharing @L33Reacts
The Doors have always been an escape from boring reality and an entry into things dark , moody and scary. Love them, with a definite teenage girl crush on Jim.❤
Great reaction man. I'd like to see a reaction to "An American Prayer," a posthoumous hymn to the memory of Jim Morrison, featuring spoken verses from his poems, set to original "classic sounding" Doors music, but even better. The album came out in the early 80s, and would be difficult to listen to as individual songs, as each one seamlessly flows into the next. Much easier as a side 1/side 2 reaction. 😀✌️ It will blow your mind. 🤯 🤘
I remember the double CD live performance. There’s so much more talking in between by Jim. This is just start.❤ I will refrain from repeating all the key lines.
The last bit at the end is actually the lead-in to Ray's vocal feature, a cover of Willie Dixon's Close To You. It was a nod to the band's blues roots and Ray's days as the lead singer for Rick & The Ravens, the bar band Ray had with his brothers that was a big favourite among the UCLA film students, including Jim - Ray's stage name back then was Screamin' Ray Daniels, The Bearded Blues Shouter (his full name was Raymond Daniel Manzarek). The Doors originally included the other Manzarek brothers, and their 1965 acetate demo has a very blues-oriented sound to it, with Ray on piano and one of his brothers on harmonica.
“The only people that rush the stage are guys” was a comparison between NY and the rest of the country, where women would rush the stage to fondle Jim.
🌸 I don't know if it was this performance or not but I know in some of their life performances Jim would just fall to the floor at the stage and just lay there and sing
Jan van Impe next album (as suggested in my previous reaction) : "live in Pittsburgh 1970" As an obsessed fan for more than 50 years,i can assure you that it has THE BEST version (more than 22 minutes !) of when the music's over because: 1/new lyrics 2/ experimental screaming 3/the song is combined with parts of break on through and the soft parade .The setlist says 14 minutes ,but the song ends after the soft parade vamp. other suggestion : the song SHIPS W/SAILS appeared on their first album after jim broke on through the other side. the song has the same structure as riders on the storm ,but the melody is far more beautiful.Sadly, when the song goes to a climax, Ray destroys it a little bit because he can't scream like jim
…..extra security because they were afraid Jim was going to expose himself onstage again ! He was arrested earlier for doing such act 😂🤣😂 Jim was usually under the influence while performing.
One of my favourite moments on the album. Rock concerts in those days could be very anarchic. I've seen footage of The Kinks playing the Beacon Theatre in New York in 1975, and the audience is insane and unruly during the whole show.
Killer diller bro. When I saw them do this at the Whiskey a-go-go in LA, they came on, minus Morrison. They began to play, just Ray doing the bass line… real soft…. & John with a snare stick click… just repeating it over & over for like 3… maybe even 4 or 5 minutes. Then Jim came onstage from behind the walk(which hid the stairs to the dressing room, I played the whiskey too which is why I know). Then Jim just held into the mic stand for another minute, maybe two…and the whole damn jam packed Whiskey… grew so silent… you could hear a fucking pin drop. I never heard a club so silent. Ever. Finally, he started to sing. “When the musics over…” And from there, it just went to another planet. The 3 greatest front men I ever saw were Morrison, Jagger & mercury. Can’t say who’s the best, they were all a 10+++. Best part? We don’t need to choose. We get to hear & watch them all… or we did. Peace my friend.
I think it's Chunga's Revenge. Maybe Burnt Weenie Sandwich. But what he meant was, look at each other, hippies. Aren't you dressed in a hippie uniform?
what album should we tackle next? let me know!
The Celebration of the Lizard - their third album
Hyacinth House, demo recorded Robby's home studio . 1969.
Great reactions, by the way.
La woman
I'll go off the board, Jack, and take "react to their concert at the Hollywood Bowl" movie for $200.
Older folks will get the Joker's Wild reference.
ADDENDUM: a reaction to the "Classic Albums" TV show where they dissect "The Doors" debut album.
The price of admission. I paid $3.50 for a Doors ticket back in '69, and it was worth it, for sure!
Saw them in Pittsburgh, Sept 20, 1969. They offered $4 - $5 - $6 seats. We had the $6 ones. Cops lined the stage area.
Nobody could scream like Jim.
Shit would loved to have been, but too young and on the wrong side of the pond!!...
"Cancel my subscription to the resurrection" is such a good line. As is "I want to hear the scream of the butterfly." Don't know what it means, but that's not important, it sounds great.

I saw them in Frankfurt Germany September 1968 with Canned Heat. What a great show!
saw them in santa clara in '67...good music, good mexican weed and hippie chicks...one of those perfect nights...

I saw the Doors perform this live at Cobo Arena in Detroit May 8th, 1970
The price of admission for my first concerts were like $8.50 (or $8 even ?).
Great reaction. 👍
thanks bro! if the doors pop up on my channel, expect a good one. i love them. lol
@@L33Reacts thank you, that is my favourite band, my favourite album and my favourite song. Great to see the young appreciate great music
the "sound" is plate echo in one of the amps.
when one Doors closes another Doors opens, this is old music but, it will never be over
More hippie 🎶 love it!
Gidday, Jim was totally on song, pitch perfect and a great sense of humor! Cheers.
L33 you re my favorite reactor and I don’t know why….Priceless 😆

Absolutely Live needs playing one side at a time
Someday, there will be no one left who could say that they saw them live. But not today. 😎
Celebration of the lizard on absolutely live is a wild trip check it out😊
The Doors have always been an escape from boring reality and an entry into things dark , moody and scary. Love them, with a definite teenage girl crush on Jim.❤
Wow! When he yells shut up to the crowd... he was so bizarre and awesome. Another great reaction Lee.
wow, no wonder he left too soon.. great scream, Jim 😘
Freaky, compelling track. Love the studio version.

Definitely finish the debut album
Listen to Not To Touch The Earth off Absolutely Live too. It's amazing.
"Celebration of the Lizard".
Came here to say the same thing. Fave song
I appreciate how you know who the different members of the band are and refer to them by name.
Ain't heckling Lee, it's getting into to it!
🌸 "CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION TO THE RESURRECTION"
Jim never instigated anything in his shows🤣
oooook.....😂 lol
Luv live version.. shut up!!
Epic
I saw the Chicago stop of this tour on February 15, ‘70. It was my first concert. You can find a 55 minute recording on TH-cam. Great memories.✌️❤️🎶
I saw them do it live also, earlier in the year for my 16th birthday 🎉 followed by my 17th birthday and enlisting in the Army 🪖😮
The whole band was essential but Jim made it go--his vision and touch of divine/craziness
DENSMORE RULES!!!!!!!! THE BEST DRUMMER.......................
THE KING of SCREAM lol
I remember the double CD live performance. There’s so much more talking in between by Jim. This is just start.❤ I will refrain from repeating all the key lines.
Absolutely Live is my favorite Doors Album, mainly because of this song. Great choice bro, thanks!!
🌸 and here we are again , meeting together with Jim.....🤍
THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES
Music played in my art class although we had to keep the volume down a little.
Wow, after Jim's big scream, this reminds me so much of A Saucerful of Secrets and Careful With That Axe, Eugene.

Totally unique. Nobody sounds like them.

In your intro to the page that's a great frisbee toss but now you have cut before the throw, just saying that I liked seeing that.
🦎🤴❤
'That sound' you questioned? It's a tube amp. Give a slam or kick it and you get this static, crispy sounds.
Not sure if it was around the time he got arrested for supposedly exposing himself on stage
Jan van Impe
next album (as suggested in my previous reaction) : "live in Pittsburgh 1970" As an obsessed fan for more than 50
years,i can assure you that it has THE BEST version (more than 22 minutes !) of when the music's over because:
1/new lyrics 2/ experimental screaming 3/the song is combined with parts of break on through and the soft
parade .The setlist says 14 minutes ,but the song ends after the soft parade vamp.
other suggestion : the song SHIPS W/SAILS appeared on their first album after jim broke on through the other side.
the song has the same structure as riders on the storm ,but the melody is far more beautiful.Sadly, when the song
goes to a climax, Ray destroys it a little bit because he can't scream like jim
Come today!
And the reference to you only get that treat on full wounds. This is coming off of the Miami incident with they said he exposed himself lol
Full "moons" not "wounds" lol
audiences were rowdy back then.
…..extra security because they were afraid Jim was going to expose himself onstage again ! He was arrested earlier for doing such act 😂🤣😂 Jim was usually under the influence while performing.
Almost saw them in Vegas, but Morrison got thrown in jail, I mowed a lot of yards to get that ticket lol.
You have to react to the celebration of the lizard from the absolutely live album next.
Shut Up!

Must hear Jimmy Hendrix live and a drunk Jim Morrison sing two songs with many f..c
Please listen to 2024 Ringo Starr's track 'Crooked Boy' with Nick Valensi from Strokes! (Or watch the video clip)
