American Chopsuey
1 pound of lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper chopped
2 to 3 stalks of celery, chopped
2 -15 ounce cans of stewed tomatoes
8 ounces of elbow macaroni cooked
Sauté ground beef and drain well. Set aside. Sauté onion, green peppers and celery in a kettle or large frying pan. Once vegetables are softened add beef, stewed tomatoes, and cooked macaroni. Serve with nice bread or biscuits and a salad.

The additions that we made to this recipe are 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, half a teaspoon of oregano, some shakes of seasoned salt and I omitted the celery and added 1/2 tbs sugar. In the ground beef as it was cooking, we added 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and a half a tablespoon of onion powder.

Chung King brand used to have a ChopSuey prep can that only some things were added to .I had not made it,but my mother used to. It was a favorite of my brother's.
I love this. A comfort food for sure, and very economical. Thanks for sharing! Have a blessed day!
The sound of the skillet was ok to me, made it feel like we were right there with you!
love it
This recipe brought back many memories. I’ve been making it for 60 years! My mother’s version uses tomato soup+ tomato paste with similar spices. I made it so many times that I have the recipe memorized . Now I have to make some tomorrow 😊
The best recipes elicit the best memories. 😊
It is known as goulash here in our Amish/Mennonite area. Thanks for the video!
Interesting. I haven't seen it made with the pasta separately, I wonder if I'd like it more that way because I've never been a fan of this one but willing to give it a go this method and see how it turns out. We have always just added 1cup of water for every cup of noodle and did it a one pot way.
I've seen this over the years (called goulash) but have never had it. I grew up and still live in Mississippi and don't think it is common here. I may be wrong LOL
That being said, I think it needs cheese!😅
Looks delicious! I grew up eating this, but it was called goulash. I'm down in Benton, Arkansas USA. I haven't made it in quite a while, but I think after seeing this, that is about to change! I so enjoy your channel, as well as Kevin's. I hope you both have a very nice week!
I grew up in Nebraska, and we called it goulash too. I appreciate Michelle sharing her heritage and how dishes are called different names in other regions. ❤️
