      He dominated the shit out of Kattar - y'all not acknowledging that. He was incredibly honest about it being a "boring" performance, but he didn't lie. He made Kattar look like he didn't belong in the octagon with him.

      Quantifiable data is objective. If we're purely looking at stats, he was EASILY the most dominant fighter on the night. If you're factoring finishing, then there's names you could put above, but let's not act like Jiri wasn't getting pieced up, Bo didn't get knocked down, or that Figgy was probably even on the scorecards. Fighters aren't going to magically start doing dumb shit just because you wave cash in front of them. At least not for 300k, which is not even 100%. He does have a strong point. Nobody goes out there to fight defensively and just scrape out a win. Everybody in every fight is trying to knock out their opponent and they’re putting 100% into it at every second of the fight. And nobody besides the craziest fighters like Hollaway and Gaethje will actually throw caution to the wind and stand there with their chins up throwing wild haymakers to try get a ko win. Even with 300k bonuses, max and Justin were the only ones to do so, which they would have done so even with out the big bonus. Which proves the point that a bigger bonus doesn’t change fights.

    Not sure why people hated on Aljo's performance. Crazy dominant in his first fight moving up a weight class and his opponent landed 4 of 6 strikes? Or something wild like that. Calvin did the look at the clock and shake his head in defeat bc he was getting dominated and could do nothing about it. Not a huge Aljo guy but he is very good. Shit DC was hating on his wrestling heavy performance and then praising Bo Nickals...

    • @BlahBlahFreeman
      @BlahBlahFreeman หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      People dislike Aljo for 3 pretty clear reasons.
      1.) His fights are always boring. You're on UFC 300 and you're 1 of 2 on the entire card, 13 fights, 26 fighters total...and you get booed. That's after Dana offers up 300k bonuses and you still got booed. There's a reason why Aljo has been in the UFC for so long, and as a former champion is making less money per fight than fighters who aren't and have never been champions. Winning isn't everything in the UFC, Mighty Mouse will tell you that. And that's not fight style. Islam, Khabib, Arman, Olives, Jones, DJ, GSP, Hughes, Henderson, Silva, Penn, Diaz, and a multitude of other fighters all spent a huge portion of their fight time on the ground and didn't get booed as often as Aljo does.
      2.) He's insufferable out of the cage. It's the same issue Izzy ran into during the Romero and Cannonier fights. He talks a massive game, blows his ego out of proportion and then lacks the self-awareness to understand that all the nonsense he talks doesn't translate to the performances he puts on. That disconnect makes people dislike him more. When you're the only one in the room giving yourself compliments, there's a dissonance that everyone picks up on and tries to avoid. Aljo possesses anti-hype, the more he talks the more people want to avoid him. He would unironically be a more likable fighter if he lost the ability to talk; that's why the UFC didn't give him a chance to ruin the card further after the Kattar fight.
      3.) His DQ win over Yan will forever haunt him, and anyone who was a fan of the sport when that fight happened will never let Aljo live that down. This is just compounded by the first two reasons. If his fights were exciting, and his personality wasn't insufferable; people might forgive him for lying about the knee. But he's incapable of that, so the fans will never side with him.

    • @vermontmotorsports1275
      @vermontmotorsports1275 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlahBlahFreeman dude you just posted a novel on how you dislike a guy who has lost 1 fight since December 2017. "Aljo sucks bc Yan is cool and illegally kneed the fuck out of his face, what a pussy". Great breakdown. Your biggest knock on him is wishing he 'unironically lost the ability to talk'. Sorry your upset Yan is 2-4 in his last 6, I like him too. But the UFC was literally booking Aljo as the best BW of all time. Was he? no. But to disrespect him bc his style isn't fun is just something you gotta get over buddy, this is MMA not muay thai. yikes

He can land it on brawler types like Poirier and Gaethje but he fails to do it when up against someone who knows how to grapple. People put him up on a pedestal as this god tier finisher when all he was doing was beating the guys that never had a chance to win the belt while Khabib was around.

    I get what Aljo is saying..the most dominant performance in 300 was between Alex, Max and Aljo as their opponents were never really in the fight. The issue is Aljo didnt ko his opponent so his dominant performance was overlooked and rightfully so..Aljo needs some knockouts on his belt or hes going to become a featherweight version of Derrick Brunson where all he does is shoot a single leg and smother.
