  • Retrofit Talks is a webinar series platforming architects and product manufacturers to discuss completed or ongoing retrofit projects.
Part of Retrofit 24, these talks give a voice to built environment professionals, allowing them to detail in their own words the process, challenges and outcomes of their projects. Connecting people, allowing for cross country dialogue, Retrofit Talks gives the audience the opportunity to learn from our presenters and ask questions in the Q&A.
469 Bethnal Green Road was a 1970’s textile warehouse resigned to demolition, until Carmody Groarke, the London- based architecture practice, was invited to explore ideas for redeveloping it. Carmody Groarke retained as much of the existing building as possible while adding multi-aspect windows, user-controlled natural ventilation, solar shading and three floors via a roof extension. Providing flexible workspace and comfortable working conditions.
Lukas Barry, Associate Director at Carmody Groarke, led the project. He is an advocate for reuse and has extensive experience in this field. Join us for this session where Lukas, along with Quinton Clarke from Unity Group, will detail this project.
