Bro, it totally hits so different knowing trevor is watching all this go down and knowing his character and how he feels about it all... The game really tries to portray all 3 protagonists as main characters equally. But let's face it the real main character of GTA 5 is Michael De Santa. Sure, Franklin and Trevor shaped Michael into the character he is and he wouldn't be nearly as interesting without them. But the plot almost always impacts Michael the most.
id say plot-wise Michael and his past are the most significant, but the game itself seems to revolve most heavily around Franklin and how he climbs up the food chain.

So id say its Micheal’s passing of the torch to the next generation in a sense. Since we even see Franklin in GTAO owning a huge criminal enterprise
Ya I see it more as Franklin climbing the ladder of success but seeing if he can break the cycle of betrayal that seems to run in criminal groups. Lamar even says it in the early hours of the game that you do some jobs before you betray them and work with someone new.

It's funny that there's like 30 people there all aiming guns at each other and they were all fine when the one guy got shot in the leg, but as soon as somebody gets killed everybody scatters rather than shoots.

I decided to just go through, n let whatever happens happen, but over the Headset I hear "ay yo chill chill. This lil n***a just out for a bike ride" N everyone just stops shooting to let me pass right through the middle of the gang war 😂 I gave a lil jingle jingle of my bicycle bell, n went on my way, without a single one of them shooting till I was gone. Then they went right back to fighting. Literally one in a million occasion. Usually people would just ram me off the road, or throw a grenade into a shop I'm using, but just once, they were absolute freaking gentlemen.
