All these people thought this was for The Rev when it's actually towards Justin Sane. The song fits both though and it's sad they have multiple songs attributed towards former members now.
RIP Jimmy. You'll always be my favorite drummer in history. Your technique will continue to inspire young musicians for many years to come. Enjoy that party in heaven bro \m/
+Sarah Castellanos My fiance of 4 years, who was the one in a million kind of guy... left me after me catching him cheating..and not once, not twice, but like 5-6 different women.. I'm mentally fucked up.. And I can empathize with you .. and part one breaks me down
Okay so from what I've read is that IWSYT part 1 was about his friends(ex bass player) attempt at suicide, part one was how he thought his friend saw it and IWSYT part 2 is how matt sees his friends suicide attempt
Rip Jimmy, I genuinely love A7X, and I feel that they have paid so much homage to Jimmy. But with the newer albums I feel they have drifted from what they've been... I like it. And I'd say James would like it too. Evolution is what keeps bands going. Along as they don't 'forget' James which i 100% believe they won't. Rip Jimmy you will never be forgotten ❤❤❤❤❤
13 years out ; waited long enough, can we plz get a part 3 & 4 . I just know u have more to say ab your best l and u never touched in how angry you can b w that person... Still epic!
So I'm guessing part 1 is the victim committing suicide and looking back on their life just before doing it such as memories, loved ones, etc.? And part 2 being those loved one's racing thoughts and feelings (hence the faster and heavier pace) once finding the victim? Am I in the ballpark?
Actually, it was a dude named Justin, nicknamed Justin Sane, who tried overdosing on cough syrup and failed. He was left permafried and he couldn't do the job
They wrote the song after a band member (supposedly Synyster Gates,) walked in on one of their friends attempting suicide. Part one is written from his POV (the suicidal friend, not Gates.) And yes, the songs were supposedly influenced by Pantera's songs. I say "supposedly" because I don't know that for a fact, but it has been said many times and it's quite likely, considering that Pantera was a big part of their lives. They even have a song paying tribute to Dimebag Darrell ("Betrayed" from City of Evil.)
Anyone thinking the last ahhh thing is quite creepy cuz of the black screen and red font? Dont get me wrong; I am a7x fan, i love this song, i like this video. I'm just saying my personal opinion.
Negative ghost rider. The rev wrote this song for the bands childhood BFF who committed suicide. Far Away on the Nightmare Album was written for the Revs death
justin sane was the bassist for a7x from 2000 until 2001 during the sounding the seventh trumpet demo album. he felled by a suicide attempt in 2001 after trying to overdose on cough syrup and couldn't continue playing with the band. SO part one of the song is like from justin sane view then part 2 was from their view (the band mate view) , focus on the lyrics n youll get it :)) any other questions ill be happy to answer it and rest in peace for the rive will always be remembered
To whomever it may concern: if you feel like no one cares for you or loves you, I do. Reach out to me and I will sit and listen to you cry your soul out or talk or anything you need. If you don’t have anyone there for you, you do now.
Friend and Band Member he had an enlarged heart which would kill him.He wouldn't live past 30 and he was 29.So he suicided with a Brompton Cocktail which was the second to final song he wrote.
+Viktor The Wolf Reznov No, The REV had an enlarged heart and died way after this song was made. This song is about a friend of A7X from High School I think, but it definitely was not anyone that was part of A7X
Rip Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan 2/10/81-12/28/09 you were a great friend and musician We All miss you Knife Master
Fuck we're closing in on 12 years...
@@jacobthehollow honestly didn't feel like it had been that long at all.
Agree
This song isn't about jimmy It's about Justin Meacham but Rip Jimmy.
@@DannyGoCrazy the song about The Rev is called Fiction(used to be called death)
I lost a friend in 2015 to suicide and have struggled with my own deep depression. This hits me in my gut.
Im very sorry to hear that, I hope you are doing better today, stay strong king
All these people thought this was for The Rev when it's actually towards Justin Sane. The song fits both though and it's sad they have multiple songs attributed towards former members now.
they thought it was for the rev years before his suicide?
also justin is still alive
RIP Jimmy. You'll always be my favorite drummer in history. Your technique will continue to inspire young musicians for many years to come. Enjoy that party in heaven bro \m/
This isn’t about jimmy fiction is
One can not listen to this song without both parts playing right after the other.
Do you know why the 2 parts are separated
@@timyassa4343 I summon you! Why?
This song made me remember every family members who passed away and the vocal from 8:00 hits me so much. Sorry for bad english btw
If it was all one track that'd be long but badass considering they go with each other
***** it is one track its just it would be too long for one song so they cut them up
Little did you know they would make the song Exist which is almost 14 minutes 😭
@@kingcrow9363exist is 15 mins long
Check out sum 41 long road out of hell it's like three tracks but Blended together beautifully
The longer the better
My husband left me two weeks ago today…...This song just breaks me down..it hits me exactly where it hurts

MADE
MY
DAY.
I am crazily in love with this group and am as well with this song
actually it was for their original bassist justin sane. matt walked in on him trying to commit suicide after their first album.
I think waking the fallen is the best album ever from A7X
City of evil in my opinion but waking the fallen is really underrated and good
@@Bradywhite7208 yeah true, waking the fallen so underrated but still good to hear at cofee morning xD
100% best album ever made.
Life is but a dream released and waking the fallen still slaps
my fav is life is but a drem but this album is a close 2nd then it is sounding of the seventh tumpt
Most beautiful rock I've ever listened. Never bored to enjoy ❣...
A7X is one of the best bands out there today.
You blended those perfectly
Okay so from what I've read is that IWSYT part 1 was about his friends(ex bass player) attempt at suicide, part one was how he thought his friend saw it and IWSYT part 2 is how matt sees his friends suicide attempt
@Darkpup14 We will all truly miss this wonderful musician. R.I.P James "The Rev" Sulliven
has it really been that long?
Beautiful!!!!
20 years later and this is still their most powerful song. What a masterpiece!
May 2021 still listening ! ? Anyone else?
January 2023 here!
april 2024 here

Which albums are you talking about?
I feel that A7X is way too drum heavy now. It completely changed how they have always sounded. It subdues every other sound in the band.
@@bakedpotaytay imma have to disagree. i hear everything just fine.
This song was made 6 years before Jimmy died
its even better the 256th time i watch this video!!!

part 1 is the view of the person committing suicide as of part 2 is the view of the friend of the person who is about to end himself
part 1 is the victim's perspective and part 2 is about the others affected by it
so beautifull songs
this song is perfect for the rev now
I love Avenged the songs are so fucking amazing and actually have meanings most the time
My favorite a7x song! R.I.P. Rev!
it was for johnny their other bandmate if you don't know him he's the one who makes the epic bass in their songs
Actually, it was a dude named Justin, nicknamed Justin Sane, who tried overdosing on cough syrup and failed. He was left permafried and he couldn't do the job
@@gabrieltodd3430 Someone be knowing the facts.
Johnny Christ is still their bassist bro.
this song is awesome as hell
Avenged doesn't get sweeter than this!
Masterpiece
I wonder is they got the inspiration to do these songs like how Pantera did Suicide Notes 1 & 2
I'd assume suicidal thoughts and the aftermath
most likely that they got inspiration from pantera
They wrote the song after a band member (supposedly Synyster Gates,) walked in on one of their friends attempting suicide. Part one is written from his POV (the suicidal friend, not Gates.) And yes, the songs were supposedly influenced by Pantera's songs. Rip James Owen Sullivan (The Rev)
10 February 1981 - 28 December 2009
if u listen carefully u can hear exactly what the rev was thinking
They're saying woah, yeah in short for the portion of the song you didn't know what they were saying
oh right i thought it was for johnny christ hmm interesting thanks :)
Some are saying woah and others are saying yeah I think
avenged sevefold wooooooooooo
This song wasn't written for The Rev, this was before he died!
Yeah I mean he's literally on the track so it would be really weird if it was written for him 😂
@@patrickwall3317 Yeah it’s about Justin Sane (former a7x member) when he attempted suicide by drinking bottles of cough syrup.
So far away was written specially for Rev

i love this song it makes me cry because i think of my girlfriend alexis taylor
because they're making a Supergroup in Valhalla.
And he isn't invited.
OMG!
🤘💀🤘
the part where it says idk what they are saying is just the chorus before the part 1 ends

what album is this from?

What’s crazy is that the lyrics of IWSYT pt 2 harken to the loss of The Rev, but was made while he was still in the band.
i think this song is about one of the band members who suicided ?
No it was before that happened
+Jenna Paiva Not one of the members, but one of their friends I believe.
