They wrote the song after a band member (supposedly Synyster Gates,) walked in on one of their friends attempting suicide. Part one is written from his POV (the suicidal friend, not Gates.) And yes, the songs were supposedly influenced by Pantera's songs. I say "supposedly" because I don't know that for a fact, but it has been said many times and it's quite likely, considering that Pantera was a big part of their lives. They even have a song paying tribute to Dimebag Darrell ("Betrayed" from City of Evil.)

I feel that A7X is way too drum heavy now. It completely changed how they have always sounded. It subdues every other sound in the band.
