I feel like people aren’t recognizing how much integrity Phil has as both a reviewer and a CEO of a cubing retailer. Most stores would be wayyy to apprehensive to trash the performance of a product that’s very recently released, but Phil goes the extra mile for customers in offering his concise, genuine thoughts on a product that’s beneath the threshold of acceptable quality - very publicly. I can’t think of another company that sells retail items that would hold manufacturers accountable in a way remotely similar to this. It speaks volumes about TheCubicle and how much they value the customer’s cubing experience.
The way Phil called it a boomer G perm makes me think. We need a “roast me” series from top end speedcubers where some of us lesser folk submit solves and instead of trying to be nice and help us improve they just absolutely roast how we do our methods and go wild

I just bought the diansheng solar and I actually quite liked it. Out of the box it had a pretty unique feel, in a way that I can best describe as "cloudy." In terms of turning and corner cutting it wasn't anything special, I was largely just taken away by both the sound and especially the feel of it. It sort of feels like a slightly worse RS3 Super, but this one felt a lot better out of the box with no setup. It's definitely not bad for the price, but there's better for cheaper
don't suspect anyone remembers it but the kungfu longyuan 3x3 performed very much like the yufeng seems to, without the features if course. the mechanism and plastic seems really similar, and that lockup that phil got right at the start sounded *exactly* like the longyuan did
I think the last good 3x3 ShengShou put out was the FangYuan actually, but regardless of when their last good 3x3 was they’re still running on brand recognition from when they dominated the big cube market
Honestly I don’t think they even have brand recognition anymore. Vast majority of cube sales come from underage kids using their parents’ money, and I highly doubt any of them know shengshou’s history.
The sloppy, flawed but full-of-magnets cube might be useful to use as a fridge magnet. Or a desk paperweight that also holds onto your paperclips. Please recycle plastic responsibly. 😉
