Two important items that you didnt mention in this video that I believe you had in your last video on Genie+ which helped my family out a ton when we went in April was that you can show up to your reservation 5 minutes early so if your reservation is at 10:00am you can actually scan your genie + ticket at 9:55am for the ride and that as soon as you scan your lighting lane for your current ride to immediately go in and book your next ride. This way if you end up spending 20 minutes between the short lightning lane wait and the ride itself you are that much closer to your next reservation. I appreciate the videos as they helped out a bunch on preparing for our trip which was the first for our two boys.
Ok but question..if you get your ticket scanned and stand in line for the ride, how do you know how long the wait time is? If you can get a new ticket for another ride you must know if you can make that time. Right?
@@Gisela_aka_gies I doubt any lightning lane will be more than an hour. Also, you can cancel your reservation at any time. So if you are stuck in a line and know you will not make it to say Splash Mountain. Just cancel the reservation. By doing this you will still have your LL for Splash Mountain to use later in the day.
@@Gisela_aka_gies we never ran into this problem most lighting lane wait times when we were there during spring break averaged 15-20 minutes. Typically when making your next reservation it would not be immediately available and there would be some time to burn off before using it. Following on my example if I scan a LL ticket at 9:55am while waiting in that line I check to see what is near by that is available and I see another ride we want to go on and it’s time frame is 10:30am-11:30am so we reserve it, we get off our current ride at 10:15-10:20 walk over to the next ride and either immediately scan our tickets in line if it takes us until 10:25am to get there if we get there sooner we hang out for a few minutes and then scan. If you wait until you are done with your current ride before booking your next ride it’s possible that instead of 10:30-11:30am being your time it might be 11:00-12:00pm in my example so now you would have ~30 minutes to wait until you can use your LL ticket. Some times this works if you have a break for eating or shopping planed or plan to ride a ride that doesn’t offer LL or you want to re-ride one you already used your LL for.
Shout out to you, Chris and Amanda for the brief stops to let peoe know they are valuable and you care!! As a clinician I think, this both ROCKS and is huge! Thank you.
Thanks! We would not have survived our recent Disneyland trip without your fantastic explanation of Genie+. We've already recommended your video to friends, and I've subscribed to your channel, so we can start dreaming about our next park visit!
This is the first video of yours I'm seeing. I was so totally surprised by your sweet side bar about everyone being awesome. I literally cried happy tears. Thank you ! Also..you are the FIRST PERSON that has described the 2 hour rule in a way I can understand! So thank you again!! 😊 ❤
Thanks Chris!!! We love your videos and have met you and Amanda at the parks a few time, last on my birthday July 3rd. We will be there again this year on July 3rd and 4th. Hope to see you there. Thank you for always remembering us, for being as charming and so very nice ❤️
I really needed your sweet words of encouragement in the middle of this video… had a rough day. I could feel how genuine you were in what you said. You are a true gem 💎
Got back from a Disneyland/DCA trip and used Genie + each day. All the tips mentioned here are great (especially the hack around 16:00... Big Thunder being closed for most of the day was our "open pass bonanza".... though it did NOT apply to Space Mountain). Arrived at 8 each day... First day hit Fantasyland first because very little there uses LL, it's all standby anyway... so we got on PeterPan, Pinnochio, Snow White, Mr Toad and Teacups. All before the first LL appointment at 10. Did LL pretty much for the rest of the day, with well-timed meal breaks. Excellent stuff. And the Photopass is real good when you have kids with you. Considering what they used to charge from PRINTS (I'm old), that part pays for itself.
Yup us too! With all that we did, we even ended up not even using all our Multi Experience Passes...but that was mainly due to another trick. We are a family of 4 and after our hotel break on the second (and 4th) day, only my son and I returned. So the trick I did was when I would scan in for a LL or MEP, I would use my wife and daughters codes, which left my son's and mine code for a second ride! It didn't matter if my wife and daughter came back / scanned in they were still available to us. And unless I just got lazy cast members, lol, they don't check your ticket and as long as you get the green light on the LL scanner they let you in. This turned our 2-3 MEPs into 6 for my son and I, and doubled our LL rides. This would work too for say a ride like Indy where maybe your wife and kid don't want to go on, and it would essentially give you another LL/MEP to go onto it again and use their code(s).
Would you mind explaining how the open pass works if a ride you selected is down? Is it just another barcode on your app? Is it a physical paper you get? Thank you!
My family and I ran into yesterday at the park. My husband stopped you and you were kind enough to take a picture with my son. Thank you for your videos and being so kind.
Just wanted to give you the biggest thank you for this video. You helped me to figure this out for my family and we did everything we wanted to (in almost the first day alone) because of this. Very much appreciated.
Great video! I just used Genie Plus at Disneyland on May 2-3rd and have a few tips to add I wish I had known: 1. When you link passes together so you get the same ride time, the REDEEM function brings up everyone’s passes on YOUR phone but also on their phone! What’s worse it brought up my cousin’s redemption code first so for the first few rides I could not figure out why I could not book another ride and the cast members didn’t know either! So watch out and be sure the pass reader turns GREEN! 2. Almost every ride broke down! I was shocked. Cast members said if you had already redeemed your genie plus for the ride and it breaks (e.g. I was in the stretching room of Haunted Mansion and they had no idea how long it would be), if you left you would not get another LL for that ride! That was frustrating since while in line or on the ride Hyperspace Mountain went down and almost everything was Temporarily Down at some point, making planning difficult. 3. Use Genie to book mobile food orders, especially for special treats! I wanted a macaron from Jolly Holiday Bakery and by 10am the first day they were SOLD OUT. So the second day I mobile ordered at 7:30am for a Noon pickup to get one!
Oh my goodness! I am so excited to watch this! I am heading there in 33 days for the first time! I feel like I am studying for a college exam trying to learn everything. It’s been 25 years since WDW. Hope to see you there Chris!
Chris! I can’t believe I just discovered your TH-cam channel a few weeks ago, and we had just come from Disneyland! I really wish I had watched your videos beforehand. I’ve been going to Disneyland my entire life as I am a SoCal resident, but Genie plus confused me. I was able to figure it out and we had a great day, but I would’ve loved to have known all the tricks. That being said, I can’t believe you did not mention one of the best parts of Genie+: the ability to order your food! SO WORTH IT!. We would get into a line, talk about where we wanna do lunch, order food, and then pick it up when we were ready. It was excellent and I highly recommend it! Yes, getting on rides quicker is great, but not having to stand in line for food when you have hungry little ones was a game changer!
Dear Chris you are kind and so gracious. Thank you for great advice. We are going in March with our kids ( we took 30 years ago) and their kids. Probable changed a little since then.
Hi Chris I’ve been following up for a while and finally this coming weekend we will be able to visit Disney for my 10 old son birthday. I was watching this video to get familiar with the genie+ and by the minute 5:00 of the video you make me literarily cry. This year been tough after loosing my 20+ job and enduring a liver transplant I’m trying to get back on track. I’m lucky to be alive to enjoy my family. Your words are priceless !!! Thank you Fernando Conde
Hi Chris! I just got my annual pass for Disneyland and found your channel while researching all the tips and trips. I want to thank you for your positive messages in each video. It always makes me think of the special moments Mister Rogers had on his show and it warms my heart.
Great tips. We haven't been at DL since Genie+ became available (we were last there on the disastrous day they launched Genie), but it sounds much like Max Pass except for the single-use per ride restriction. You're already spending $130+ a head admission, $50+ per person for food, it's well worth the investment to make your day go smoother and ride more rides. Spend your time not waiting in line! I really don't like the paid Lightning Lane concept that tells guests that, even though they just paid $130 to get in, some rich jerk is better than they are and walks to the front of the line. Very un-Disney if you ask me.
I visited the day before Jimmy plus was launched and let me tell you I had the best experience without genie plus then returning July 7th this year for my son's birthday July 3rd buying my tickets 2 months in advance $60 each ticket for genie plus and 3 major rides which is the reason why I bought the thing don't accept it and unlike the free fast pass you can only have one fast pass at a time until it's redeemed if you ask me Disney is looking for all kinds of ways to get us multiple visits a year to not visit every year
Another tip I recommend is using the singles line for the cars ride. It cuts down on the line length significantly and then you can compare your car’s journey with the other members of your group, which I think is fun. Much more fun that using the singles line for the Smugglers run. For that ride it’s fun to know the people in your vehicle because you have to collaborate with them while controlling the falcon.
Oh Chris, you made me cry with your pep talk, love it! Right back at ya, you've got friends everywhere who love you! And thank you for this video, so helpful for our first trip to Disneyland this summer, all the way from the Netherlands!
We're from Sacramento, CA and we go to Disneyland and DCA about twice a year and we always use the Genie+ (old Max Pass). Once you learn how to maximize it, you will ALWAYS use it.. It allows you to enjoy so much more during your visit. Love you guys and your positive energy!!!
Chris, I want to thank you for the uplifting words. My older brother passed away last week, leaving a hole in my heart. Your videos are always uplifting and I'll say it again... You are my new Mr. Rogers! Please stay safe and thanks for all you do to keep us informed and entertained. God bless!
I was confused by how it worked, but not now. I really appreciate this explanation and breakdown. I didn't expect it to be complicated! Personally, I think it needs to be simplified. Thanks again! By the way, where in the hospital did Rae go when she broke her arm? To the X-Rae wing! She doesn't fly that aircraft anymore either. Who spends any time with their X?
Just started watching the channel because the Disney vlog I was watching became more about people talking about themselves and what they want Disney to do rather than give me information about the parks! Love the videos! Thanks Chris!
I miss watching your content! It’s been a couple years since we’ve been to the parks but we’re looking forward to being there next Monday! Thank you for your informative content and for just being great human beings. We love your family ❤️
@14:30 Chris I thought you were directly talking to my family. We are a family of 4 coming from Wisconsin. We are coming to Disneyland in 61 more days.
Hi Chris I was watching a video about Jeannie plus and I'm glad you stopped to say about people how special they are no matter what's going on in the world we are all very special most TH-cam's don't tell this story better than you did I'm glad you took the time to care you're awesome shout out to you Chris and your wife Amanda 🙏
Chris, you are AMAZING ‼️Thank you‼️Your kindness shines right through the screen and I thank you for being a lovely beacon for so many. I’m going to Disneyland for the first time on Tuesday and was feeling madly overwhelmed and lost and stressed about navigating the Disney waters …until I found YOU‼️ I’m inhaling all your videos and am calming down now know I will be able to learn the app and use Genie +. You are a gift and I am grateful. This 65 year old woman will allow her 12 year old inner girl to have a blast!
At that 5 minute mark message...thank you. I kinda' needed to hear that. I lost my Husband to COVID and decided to take our first big trip to Disney, just the kids and me, it's been a ball of emotions and sadness knowing their Dad won't be there with us. Disneyland bound on October 5th, 2022 for my Son's 12th birthday. Thank you. I know it seems silly, but that message was so nice to hear.
Another Genie+ Insider Tip is to set your phone to low power mode (if it offers that feature) or bring a spare battery pack. Most phones won't last a full 8am - 1am day out there. Most of our group's batteries were getting low and needed charging long before we left the park.
Thank you so much for that mini heart to heart talk! I am finishing up classes for Nursing school and it has been so so SO hard to get here. We appreciate the reminder and let’s keeping sharing the Disney love ✨
Wow. As a CM, I'm very familiar with people getting the Multi Experience Pass when a ride goes down. It never occurred to me to try to get it on PURPOSE to get an LL for any attraction (especially those with no standard LL, like, say, Jungle Cruise or the Fantasyland attractions.) BRILLIANT idea! Thank you!
This is the best breakdown of Genie+ thank you so much !! My mom is spending two days at Disneyland and I made sure she got G+ but we were unsure of how to use it. She will be a professional now!!!
Because of this video, we added Genie+ to our vacation in late October ( a couple of weeks). Because we are a family coming to Disneyland from KY and only travel every couple of years - we added it on to our package. We are so happy we did. I sort of laughed at your comment about pricing when I watched originally, cause I thought that was unlikely. However today Disney raised prices on Genie+ and I am so happy we have the old price. Thank you for what you do!
Chris I needed to hear that today I don't know how you knew that! My daughter just passed away a few months ago and now my husband just had a heart bypass surgery almost lost him Leslie I'm not doing well at work or at anything bread anything feels like the world's coming down on me and I felt like you were talking to me when you said that Encouragement. Thank you so much God-bless you and Amanda and miles
Hi Chris, I discovered your TH-cam Channel today and wanted to say how much I enjoyed your content. I especially wanted to say thank you for your words of encouragement to your viewers in this episode. I think it was something I needed to hear, even from a stranger as my shoulders released the tension I was holding. Thank you for adding value to my day with your Disney content and your words! It made a difference to my day
Chris it was wonderful to see you on April 2nd, I came home to Petaluma and was helping a friend and on April 25th getting ready to walk her dog the dog yanked her leash and I fell breaking my ankle and ribs, so I haven’t been able to get out many videos on my channel “Great Life & More “. I will be posting again within the next two weeks or so. My birthday is May 24th, so sometime after that.
Chris, you help me so much with the kind messages in your video. I am really hoping to be able to go to disneyland this next week, but my fiancee's car keeps having issue after issue and finally we got in an accident last sunday after seeing doctor strange. it was just a small fender bender thankfully and nobody was hurt but now we're scrambling to figure out what we can do to get there. I'm doing my best to stay positive and do everything we can to make this work so we can make it for our reservations. Your videos are the biggest thing keeping me positive right now. Seriously, you are a superstar human being and I am so happy that you do what you do.
No! YOU are awesome! I’m a fan of several theme park channels but yours is the first one I’ve found hosted by someone who could have been my riding partner when I was a kid! I appreciate you and the things you say. Great to discover you!
Chris, you are such an uplifting person. I hope you know that when you’re telling us that we’re awesome, we’re saying it right back! You are seriously awesome! 💚💙
Thank you Provost Park Pass! Going back to Disneyland for the first time in 5 years and had no idea that there are no more fast pass kiosks. Thank you for making it more clear regarding Genie+! You are great at breaking these things down!
I haven't been to Disneyland/DCA in 15 years, but I am beginning to plan a big family trip, I appreciate your videos as so much has changed! I will be watching more so I can completely hack the trip.
That's awesome that the Photo Pass is included in it! I wonder how many people don't know about that part and don't end up using it. Great information in this video. Thanks for all. you do!
I think the part I miss most versus the old Fastpass/Maxpass is the fact that you can only use Genie+ once per attraction per day. Trying to do the calculus in my head about the best time to make a reservation for our favorites just felt so limiting. In the past you could do your favorites that don’t have huge wait times - Mansion for our family for example - then grab a couple big ones (Space, Matterhorn, Indy, etc.) that you want to do only once. Then you could easily grab Mansion at least once or twice more. Maybe even another Indy or Space. I’m sure there’s a reason for the change, but overall it seemed to really over complicate and under deliver. However, being from out of state and spending all the money to get there, you really don’t have the option to not buy Genie+. It’s the only way to make the most of it. But, we’re not really parade/show people, so during the 3pm-8pm time frame we really are just waiting for the next attraction and eating/drinking/spending/finding shade.
I totally agree with you. I also liked it better when the fastpass required you to physically show up to the queue to grab your fastpass, it was so much more representative of an actual "virtual queue" experience. I get saving paper, but you should still have to show up to the ride's physical queue and maybe scan your phone or something so it's like you actually got in line, and then leave as if someone's holding your place. The way they have it now is not only greedy limiting you to one reservation, but also it's less like saving you the standing and more like making each ride be it's own destination- even though you've already paid to get into the park itself. Really making people feel "nickel and dimed" here.
I use the DAS system..which I am humbly grateful for so none of this applies to me but I love PPP and you so much I had to watch...thank you and love you back..I met you and your family once at the end of the day..so sweet to this old guy thank you It would have been fun if Kyloren came out of that gate while giving us your pep talk.. Thanks Chris
I love how you break it down & explain things on your channel. Sometimes I don't understand when others explain it & here you come & I'm like, "oh, ok, I totally get it now" thank you Provost Park Pass!
I should have watched your video before we went! Genie+ was so confusing to me, but it sure makes sense now :) We still had a blast. And are planning towards a longer visit next time with staying at the resort somehow. Genie+ FTW!
thank you for this video!! were having a girls trip end of this month to disney and i haven't been since i was a teen!! we're in out 30/40's now and things have changed so much lol. this will totally help us navigate through the days!
Wow, I clicked on this video looking for advice for my trip in September, I didn’t expect that beautiful pep talk like 1/3 of the way in. Things in my life have been chaotic and it’s making the trip I’m planning a lot more stressful. That was exactly what I needed to hear, thank you! 💜 Instantly subscribed 🤣😁

Ok but question..if you get your ticket scanned and stand in line for the ride, how do you know how long the wait time is? If you can get a new ticket for another ride you must know if you can make that time. Right?

I love how you stop and say hi to all your fans!!
Oh my goodness…. Your “you are special” comments gave me tears. Thank you! Love you too!
We're from Sacramento, CA and we go to Disneyland and DCA about twice a year and we always use the Genie+ (old Max Pass). Once you learn how to maximize it, you will ALWAYS use it.. It allows you to enjoy so much more during your visit. Love you guys and your positive energy!!!
could you tell me more about your schedule there? please, going on this weekend.
6:40 That's my favorite spot. The background is so cool
LOL great joke!
😂🙌
Hahaha 🤣
Just started watching the channel because the Disney vlog I was watching became more about people talking about themselves and what they want Disney to do rather than give me information about the parks! Love the videos! Thanks Chris!
I like Rope Jumping better than Rope Dropping. You're onto something Chris. Jumping sounds more fun
Haha, dang, that small break to thank us got me a wee-bit teary-eyed!
Love how your straight to the point and honest you are.
Out if all the vids I’ve watched, yours hands down was most informative and easily understood. Lightbulb moment!!
Wow. As a CM, I'm very familiar with people getting the Multi Experience Pass when a ride goes down. It never occurred to me to try to get it on PURPOSE to get an LL for any attraction (especially those with no standard LL, like, say, Jungle Cruise or the Fantasyland attractions.)
BRILLIANT idea! Thank you!
I rarely comment, but your message around 4:45 was really lovely. Thank you.
Thank you so much for saying that each one of us is important to you.
It always makes me smile :-)
I'll be back at Disneyland on the 23rd!!!
Yeah.
Amen! You will not regret buying Genie+! $20 is worth it to skip tons of lines throughout the day. It adds up but it is such a time saver!
Just saw your video and was having a bad day. Just want to let you know that yours words from thank you message meant a lot to me! Thank you❤
This is the best breakdown of Genie+ thank you so much !!
Yes! Your last Genie+ video is the only reason I bought Genie+ for my trip later this year! Love that you made an update to the tips for 2022 🖤
Chris I needed to hear that today I don't know how you knew that!
It made a difference to my day
You're a star and you shine. ✨️
This is super helpful for international tourists visiting for the first time in a long time. Great stuff.
I'm literally having a hard time and his words were perfect. Thank you 🥺
How did I just find your channel!? The 2 hours!? I’ve gotten rid of my reservations because they were so far in advance.
You are awesome for putting that message that we are all special!
Your a special guy. Wish I wasn’t so jaded and had your joy.
Thank you for this video! I love the little message in the middle, I actually needed to hear that. Excited to use the genie+ on my trip this Sunday!
You’re wonderful…. Thank you for the lovely pep talk. So refreshing 😍
Your affirmations, as small a thing as they seem to be, really make a difference and lift my spirits. Thank you. You are awesome. You are special.
I love your positivity, is something I’ll keep saying! I want to thank you, for sharing your positivity and kindness!!
Thank you, for the loving message. Really, thankyou. Love and joy to you both. 💛 💛
I remember when I lived in California and a local ticket was only 22 dollars.
The cost of just the genie plus pass alone now.
I will be watching more so I can completely hack the trip.
that park hopper transition was 🔥🔥🔥
I came for the tips. Subscribed for the positivity ❤
Please do video to show us how to use genie plus tutorial….very important and help us out
I love it when you give the little pep talks. You made my afternoon
You are so sweet. Love the encouragement messages you sprinkle into your videos. They are appreciated and makes your channel stand out from the rest.
Thanks for the Positive Messages Chris! Much love to the Provost Family
Absolutely the most helpful Genie+ for Disneyland guide I’ve seen! Thanks so much!
I'm saving this video! Thanks Chris!
I was just wondering if you guys where posting a video today 😁 YESSSSSS!!!!
Thank you so much, very helpful ❤👍👍
But, we’re not really parade/show people, so during the 3pm-8pm time frame we really are just waiting for the next attraction and eating/drinking/spending/finding shade.
right, with fast pass you could have 2 in advamce now pay to have a single one each time. Disney/Chapek is taking the company down.
I use the DAS system..which I am humbly grateful for so none of this applies to me but I love PPP and you so much I had to watch...thank you and love you back..I met you and your family once at the end of the day..so sweet to this old guy thank you
It would have been fun if Kyloren came out of that gate while giving us your pep talk..
Thanks Chris
I love how you break it down & explain things on your channel. Sometimes I don't understand when others explain it & here you come & I'm like, "oh, ok, I totally get it now" thank you Provost Park Pass!
This video was literally the most helpful Disney tips video I have ever seen. Keep up the good work bro!
I should have watched your video before we went! Genie+ was so confusing to me, but it sure makes sense now :)
We still had a blast. And are planning towards a longer visit next time with staying at the resort somehow. Genie+ FTW!
Liked the retro style info graphics on this one, very VH1 Popup Video!
I think when you are scanned in -while in line you can set up another lighting lane-even before you're on the ride
Love your smile, trulyyyy
Thanks for this great video, it will be my second trip next summer , learnt a lot how to select attractions.
thank you for this video!! were having a girls trip end of this month to disney and i haven't been since i was a teen!! we're in out 30/40's now and things have changed so much lol. this will totally help us navigate through the days!
