Great. You are one of the few Watercolour artists on TH-cam who show your palette, water, blotter and with some good close-ups of your strokes. Many thanks
Chickens have 'combs' on top of their heads and 'wattles' under their beaks. The wattles are not connected to their cheeks like a jowl would be. A crest to chicken breeders is like a tuff of feathers on the top of the head, not a comb which is fleshy. Go look at Polish Crested hens and you can see how cute they are with feathers looking almost like a hat. Males have larger combs and wattles than a hen has. The combs are a chicken's way of cooling their bodies. Also the way to tell a rooster from a hen is that his neck feathers are long and narrow. A hen will have shorter feathers on her neck. Hens have short tails and roosters have longer tails. I'm not just a chicken rancher but also a watercolorist since 1989. Thank you for your video. I love seeing chickens honored.
So adorable they are. I love to paint animals and you bring me to this. The farm animals are the best. So nice that you show us how to do it. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
This might be the first time when I'm actually happy with my watercolour painting. I'm still a beginner but I got very frustrated with all tutorials "for absolute beginners" when I was not able to paint them right. Thank you for this awesome video, thank you for my lovely chickens (I can't stop looking at them!), and thank you for making me enjoy paining them!
Lovely lesson: building from simple shapes, unfussy brush work, leaving white space for the brain to fill in, and acceptance of colors blending. Also, it looks very, sort of, meditative. Can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks.
Oh my goodness...this could not have come at a better time for me. I recently began raising chickens. I have five and I'm in love with them. They are so sweet. I have two white, two black, and one red. I've been customizing egg carton cartons to give to family and friends, filled with fresh eggs. Because of your excellent tutorial, I can up my game on the watercolor paintings of each of them. Thank you so much!
I am so in love with your chickens!! I have chickens and I’ve never thought it could be so easy to paint them! So inspired that I’m going to get my paints wet today! Thank you!!!💖
I did them yesterday and now i see how nicely they dried overnight. You are a genius! I tried so long to draw chicken and now i can do it in watercolor!!! 🐔❤️😁 Thank you so much for your great work! You are a born teacher! Please do a fox before easter, than i could do sketches to a story i wrote and give them to my niece and nephew! I would really appreciate it!
I love chickens, I got day old heritage breed chicks at the beginning of March and now they are almost fully grown. I get such joy out of watching their playful antics, and I can't wait to start getting those delicious organic eggs in a couple of months. I would love to be able to paint them in watercolors but I am doubtful I will be able to so easily form the shapes the way you did.
I have recently started painting again and find you so inspiring. Your paintings are beautiful and I find your voice very soothing, which is just what I need! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
Harriet! This is my fave video you’ve done because the reference finished chickens are in the frame. So I can better see where we are going and the why’s and wherefore’s. Thank you! (I love the rooster and realized I’d not seen this one and viola it’s the bestest for me) 😊❤
I’m going to try to paint these for a birthday card ! Thank you so much. You make it look so easy. I love your pleasant demeanor. You make the lessons so relaxing to watch and and so easy to understand that it gives me confidence to try.
I bought a cheap watercolor set at a discount store with questionable brushes and I painted these while following along. So nice! Thank you for your tutorials!
Your chickens are just adorable! ❤️. I love your style of painting & have nearly watched all your tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing. Cheers from Western Australia 😊❤️🥰💕😘😍
@@deWintonPaperCo first batch is not bad! I’m envious of your ability to make simple brush strokes turn into a chicken; I really need to loosen up. On to more practice…😍🐓🐓🐓
Such lovely soft little friends are they! You make it look so easy & I cannot wait to try them when my art supplies will be dug out of ???? box in our new home! (And I'll be hearing morning birds too, which delights me to no end!). Many thanks, Harriett! :) Fanna Turano Denver, Colorado US
@@deWintonPaperCo My obsessed side kept out a tiny tin of paints & A5 sketchbook from the hundreds of moving boxes. Your book is SO easy, that I painted many lovely tulips. I realized I'm unable to not paint for the next month, so I have a "stash" nearby--your book, the ONLY one I didn't pack. Anyway, thanks much, Harriet. Such a delight to watch your videos! :) Fanna Turano Denver, Colorado, US
Hi Linda, we've got a real range of styles on my channel but just look further afield at all the amazing artists on youtube and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.
Your paintings are really cute. I love how simple and fun it is to paint. I tried painting some of the other animal demonstrations you had in other videos too. They turned out really good! If you can could you do some loose painting of a few different dog breeds?

No worries!
agree, especially like the closeups!
The loose, soft strokes are absolutely beautiful and very inspiring!! PLEASE do more in this style!!
Thank you! Will do!
